Summary: Was the Camera man's light meter broken?
Review: I really don't know what Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise thought they were doing in this movie. The lighting was too bright or overexposed. I suppose it was supposed to put me in mind of the future, but all it really did was annoy me. I had figured out who the bad guy was about 1 hour before the movie revealed it. And what about a little better attention to the details. How long did Cruise carry that pair of eyeballs with him and they hadn't deteriorated??? Now if he were such a big criminal, wouldn't they have shut down his access?????

Summary: People can say what they want....
Review: People can say what they want to about this movie, but it has to be one of Steven Spielberg's best ever. The way he depicts the future seems so dead on, that you have to believe our cars will look like that someday. WIth all the amazing graphics and what not, I would have to say that this is one of Tom Cruise's best movies. I know people who say he should not be an action star, but I would have to differ. With the right director and screenwriter, Tom Cruise can definitely be an action star. This movie had me on the edge of my seat at all times, watch it and you won't regret it.

Summary: Over Rated
Review: Ebert listed this as his top film of 2002 and there was even talk that it would be redistributed again for Oscar consideration. Its obvious, Spielberg has a lot of friends in high places. This is a poorly written film with a few excellent special effects. Where as Blade Runner got it right in so many ways, Minority report got it wrong. How about cultural diversity for one; I hardly doubt that the country will be living so "white" fifty years from today. Where there any Hispanics or Asians in this film of the future? It would have been nice if there was some plot twist and not such a rosy happy Hollywood ending. How about Tom really being guilty! Thank God Mr. Cruise didn't take the role in the newly released movie Narc because his doing drugs in Minority Report or anything else is pitiful. How about a little grit and dirt? How about less fireworks Mr. Lucas, oh I mean, Spielberg. A.I. and now this, good luck to the viewing masses.

Summary: Great movie - so-so DVD
Review: I loved this movie in the theaters. If all you want from the DVD is to watch the movie, then by all means get it. The movie is awesome, really a five-star movie.

That said, the DVD is surprisingly lacking. There are NO, repeat NO scene-by-scene commentary tracks! That is inexcusable for a two-DVD set. There are lots of extras on the second DVD for sure, but the extras are pretty much constrained to that second DVD. The first disc has the movie, and nothing else.

As a side note, I hate when DVDs are designed so that my subtitles button doesn't work, and I have to go through the menus to get the subtitles up.

Summary: Another masterpiece by Spielberg!!!
Review: This is the 2nd best movie of 2002. It has ver good acting, great story, incredible visual effects, and the perfect soundtrack. The movie is set in 2054, with its central premise of "Precrime" law enforcement, totally reliant on three isolated human "precogs" capable of seeing the future. That's original, so I knew I'd enjoy this. I was at the edge of my seat in awe of how great this movie was, and it wasn't even over! Anyway, as Precrime's confident captain, Tom Cruise preempts these killings like a true action hero, only to run for his life when he is himself implicated in one of the precogs' visions. He makes one heck an escape, even has his eyes changed! Making good use of astonishing special effects, Minority Report brilliantly extrapolates a future that's utterly convincing, and pretty dang cool if you ask me. It knid of reminds me of A.I Artificial Intelligence. You must see this movie, it is so good. BUY IT NOW!

Summary: Effects 5 - plot 2
Review: Minority report, set in the near future, predicts a society heavily regulated, policed and fundamentally structured on curtailing civil liberties. The usual background for a SF film set in the future!

The film is rather unconvincing, in either plot or thematically. The acting is adequate, though Cruise does appear to lack any real conviction.

The effects are quiet superb, which warrants perhaps the real reason for seeing this film

Summary: Tom Cruise hasn't been this good in a while
Review: I really had no interest in this film. I am not a fan of Tom Cruise, and no one else in the film really stood out. I finally watched it when it hit DVD and I was thouroghly impressed. Tom was good as precrime detective John Anderson. Anderson is a member of a team of detectives who stop crimes before they happen. The system works great. The precogs (three teenagers in a pool of water who see things that havent happened yet. Think Dionne Warwick in high school.) see a crime and send out a "message" that shows the crime, the victims name and the ciminals name. The Precrime team then has to find them and arrest them before the crime is committed. The system seems to work fine until Anderson himself is seen committing a crime. And not just a crime, A homicide. He must then go on the run and try to figure the who why and the where of the crime to stop himself from committing it. It is a thrill ride that will definitely turn ever the firmest Cruise hater into a fan. A must see flick.

Summary: Lots of Bells and Whistles,
Review: but that's about it. Some of the effects are really cool to look at, but the mixture of mod-tech with a realtively visually unchanged rest of the world looked off to me. Also, the story is pretty pedestrian in spite of it's excellent premise. Underneath all of the fancy gadgets and clever lights is the same old tired mystery that is too easy to figure out. Cruise is neither a great actor nor action hero(although he does display some good pantomime skills)and should start to rethink his carreer choices. Anyway, it's fun to look at for the first 90 of its' 225 minutes.

Summary: Pretty entertaining
Review: Hey, as long as I can sit through a movie without falling asleep it's good enough for me. Great visuals, engaging story. Acting was pretty good, although I must say that Colin Farell puts Tom Cruise to shame!

Summary: Scared the [life] out of me!
Review: A truly good flick to come out in recent years, this sci-fi thriller with Steven Spielberg directing and Tom Cruise acting looks at the moral issue of crime prevention today. While other movies have gone through other routes, notably the beautiful "Training Day," this explores the possibility of predicting crime and stopping it before it starts. With stunning special effects, and an above average supporting cast, this movie remains strong in a world of down-right terrible flicks.
