Review: I saw this with my 18 year old son. I was so excited to see it due to all the hype. I was disappointed and wish I had just left before it finished. I have never done that before but we both agreed it was a waste of our time. It was long and not what I expected from the beginning. I took my son to see Tomb Raider and we both enjoyed it. I like the director just not this film.

Summary: This movie asks real questions and gives good answers!
Review: Call me unique but I liked the entire movie. I have been a sci-fi movie and book fan for well over 3 decades and I have been a computer programmer specializing in A.I. and electronics guru for over 20 years not to mention a robot fan and hobbyist. This movie hits dead on the types of issues we will be facing. If we have a problem with stem cell research and cloning how are we going to deal with creating machines that are self aware. Questions like, if you turn it off is it murder? Can a machine that believes in and loves God have a soul? Can we love a machine back if it loves us? We will be facing these questions in the next 20 to 50 years or so and I think this movie starts to scratch the surface. I like the ending because it suggests that even if we as a race are wiped out, our creations may continue on evolving and changing and may even someday look back on us and remember us fondly. Made in the image of the creator sounds strangely familiar! I like movies that make me think and as a techno geek I hate when Hollywood makes unbelievable leaps but in this case I don't see anything that's out of the question as a possible future scenario. For those interested in seeing just how we are coming on these technologies simply do a web search on Sony's AIBO or Honda's ASMOV. Summary: undoubtedly Speilberg's worst movie
Review: usually i enjoy Speilberg movies, some of them are among my favourite movies but AI will never be one of them. Occassionaly a movie comes along that is just so awful from start to finish (in this case especially finish) that it almost defies being reviewed. there are few or no redeeming features of this movie, of course the effects are excellent, of course the performances are good, of course the pace is digitally perfect but the film has no soul, ultimately its at lifeless as the characters it reflects on. therein lies the critical flaw of the film, it is itself totally artificial and dead. whilst on a purely intellectual level that is intriguing its not enough to sustain a feature length movie. what would have made a unique and probably award-winning short movie fails to succeed as a feature. finally it leaves one feeling sad that so much talent and effort were wasted on one bad idea.

Summary: For Those Who Like to Think about Meaning
Review: I'm very glad this movie finally came out in DVD format. Ever since I saw it with my wife I've been yearning to add it to my collection - very small - of DVD movies I felt worth keeping. This movie addresses a fundamental question we all ask and seek to answer in many different ways. I personally could not help seeing the similarity between the boy's search for the Blue Fairy and the pursuit of some men and women after their creator for the answers that will give their lives meaning, and to remain alongside that which gives meaning. For the thinker and the searcher-there is no other I could recommend this movie to.

Summary: Masterpiece or Mess?
Review: When I saw "AI" in the movie theater I loved the first act -- I was completely "there" -- but by the time the 3rd ending rolled around, I was staring at my watch, more that bored -- I was mad! I felt manipulated, and I couldn hardly wait to get out of the theater. Masterpiece? I don't get it. The most interesting character is "Snuggle the Fabric Softener Bear." And one more thing -- I think most people would agree that if a child is lost and friendless, what should he do? Why, hang out with a male hustler, of course. Kubrick was a genius. Spielberg is brilliant. (And the story is fascinating.) But together, they've created a peanut butter & pastrami on raisin bread sandwich - somethimes things that are great separately don't fit together.

Review: One of the worst films of the year without question. This film would've been raked over the coals by critics if it hadn't been for the Kubrick-Spielberg collaboration behind it. A film full of holes and missed opportunities, there is no heart in this film and no redemption for it either.

Summary: Oedipus meets Pinocchio
Review: An awsome spectacle...truly captivating movie that one will either love or loathe. Ignore the too obvious analogy of Pinocchio - yes it does draw from this story, but there's much more to it that that. The other side of the coin, and the darker aspect of the movie draws deeply fro the classic tale of Oedipus. This is a compelling blend of Greek tragedy, fairy tales and a classic sci-fi short story.
First rate performances all round, and a story well told on several levels. The only mildly distracting mechanism is the clear shift from a typically thought provoking Kubrick feel to a Spielberg "ET" like theme. It works, but is a bit too contrived. This is not a movie you sit back & watch it happen around you. It grabs you & demands you invest thought and energy into the experience. At ~ 3 hours, I can see why some complain, but it's time well spent if you really want more than the usual aseptic, thoughtless Hollywood formula.
AI is truly a richly textured and emotioanlly/intellectually challenging movie - which is perhaps the major reason it clearly divided the audience.

A.I. is a truly horrible mess of a movie with one of the
worst (and longest) endings of all-time. It's worth seeing
once - it's an audacious, honest attempt at bravura movie-making - but not purchasing. Combines the worst aspects of Mssrs. Spielberg and Kubrick. You'd be much better off
with Close Encounters of the Third Kind or 2001: A Space
Odyssey.
