Summary: most vastly underrated movie ever made.
Review: Much like "Dune", which is also a favorite of mine, Waterworld was underrated before it ever hit the screen. This movie, which stands alone among futuristic thrillers, is another example why I even bother to pay to see movies at all. The creativity of the plot, and especiall the special effects, makes this in my opinion one of the best fiction movies Ive ever seen. Kostner does the movie justice with his own excellent performance as Mariner, and the often subtle changes in the direction of the plot, such as leaveing the island at the end of the movie, truly breaks current mind sets often found in the movie makeing industry. Lets hope the critics havn't scared Kostner away from makeing similar such ventures in the future. His appreciative fans, the public, know great directing when they see it, and screw the critics! I suspect he rebuffed a bribe from an influential critic and so a smear campaign was launched against this flic.

Review: Being from Hawaii I love it because of the beautiful scenery. A fresh look at a society gone wrong in a MadMax kind of way. Can not wait to get the DTS version.

Summary: This DTS version adds another dimension to this action movie
Review: We all know the movie, it works well in DVD and in my opinion every user should have it in their collection. It was very interesting comparing this DTS release to the normal AC-3 version. A number of action packed chapters were evaluated in both formats (Dolby Digital & DTS), the difference was quite noticable. The AC-3 soundtrack version seemed 2 dimensional, the sound was quite flat and more focused to the front. The DTS was more airy and certainly packed a punch, the sound action seemed to leap out of the screen and slap you around the face. Well worth the wait for DTS versions, give me more please... If you don't have a DTS Amp. or decoder, then check them out!

Summary: Don't knock it till you've seen it
Review: Stupid media people are the reason this film did not succeed. The simple fact that the film had a large budget led to a massacre by the papers, before it had even come out. Well, guess what: it made its money back and more. And for good reason! A interesting plot and terrific action keeps this one going. Costner is my favorite actor, so I am a bit biased, but you should still give it a chance; go rent it!! You'll be suprised. Long live Waterworld!!!!!!!!!

Review: I had waited nearly 3 years for DTS to finally be available on DVD and with the introduction of Waterworld I'm thrilled I waited! The audio in this film is nothing short of spectacular, the waves, the explosions, the music score, one could not ask for anymore. The video quality is stunning with all the breathtaking colors and hues. For Waterworld this is the disc of choice. This DTS transfer beats the dolby digital hands down.

Summary: An awesome view of what the world would be less land!!
Review: I dont normally find myself in the position of defending a film but every time I have seen this movie, I always walk away feeling sad that it ended. Costner gave an awesome gritty performance of the lonesome drifter with the Eastwood mentality....so what it cost 250 mill to make. for me it was a full bucket of popcorn and good canidate for dvd collectors.
