Summary: Incredible Graphics, No Plot
Review: The 2 stars that I rated this movie come only from the phenominal computer graphics. They are absolutely amazing. The rest of the movie, however is lacking. With very little plot, this movie is tough to get through, and is almost unwatchable the second time around. Unless all you want is to be dazzled by fantastic computer imagery, stay away.

Summary: Best Since Akria & Ghost in the Shell
Review: FINALLY, an advancement in animation and a solid plot to go with it. My other favorites: Akria & Ghost in the Shell are anime shows that demonstrate solid story with detailed animation - to judge others. FF is a great mixture of detail, computer animation, and a unique story of a piece of a war ridden dead planet striking the Earth and unleashing a confused alien world on all living creatures. I can not see anything to knock this animation feature about...unless you simply do not like science fiction films or a paranoid actor thinking a simulated person might get your next job in the future! Don't knock this as alot more of the "special effects" today are being done this way. Animation has always centered around actors...or some people just want to see complete animation. Actors will always have a job.

Well I have to complain about one thing - its technical and some may have noticed this in the story. The spirits were revealed or seen through the use of "bio-charged" particles revealing their alien presence and form. I have watched the film twice + and the Waste Land scene and final attack on the crater shows the spirits with no help from "charging" them with some sort of bio-particle. You might say the cannon charged the entire crater but the Waste Land is a complete miss! Pretty picky huh :0) Well, I was glad to see the aliens as thats a big part of the movie. Enjoy the show, it is spectacular!

Recommend to audiences who like special effects and full animation films. Teens on up will like this show, plenty of blasting and a nice underlying story for those wanting something to think about. Visually astonishing...I am almost afraid to see what is in store for us in the future! You might just be an active character in the movie.

Summary: Amazing computer graphics but the storyline could be better
Review: If you're into good sci-fi computer graphics this would be it although the story could have been done a little better. It tends to get a little bit confusing on how the ghosts can really take human souls even though this is not a horror movie and these things were military aliens not devils.

Summary: Great potential, poor execution
Review: I was tempted to buy this movie because I want to support computer animation as it develops out of its infancy. But I decided to rent Final Fantasy first after losing $25 bucks on Titan A.E.

From a technical perspective, the film film is hit and miss. Group shots and anything shown from a distance work very well. Backrounds and ships also worked. Close ups of characters rarely worked, though some were better than others. It was obvious some characters (the old scientist) were paid more attention to.

From a story standpoint, it was pure goofy anime. I consider myself a typical American viewer, and I will tell anyone interested that I think ships that look like big animals or any other animal related themes like the spirits in this film are just plain old silly.

Computer animated movies would have a much better chance of mass popularity if their makers could license a known actor to "star" - my choice would be Bruce Lee.

Summary: Pointless eye candy....
Review: The only thing good about the movie were the graphics. I like to see plot and story, but this didn't really have any. There is almost no good movie based on a game out there. This one was no different. I kept hearing how great this movie. Everywhere I looked there were people say "Two thumbs up" and "Four Stars" that I was thinking, this could be great. CG animated characters right? How bad could it be? Worse than we think.

If you are an absolute fan of the FF games then you should let this movie slide already. While it takes elements from FFVII and FFIX, the movie is not worth the watching. Sure its great eye candy, but as another reviewer said, its just used to milk more money for Square and their Final Fantasy series.

The characters who were CG animated was just pathetic. Square should've gotten real people. That way I would've felt at least 1 percent sorrow when someone died. But it was just pathetic. The love story sucked and the plot was weakened even more with these characters. In on simple word "dull". Not to mention that seeing two CG animated characters share a kiss with one another is strange and witty, and continues to make the characters less interesting. I could find my best friends little brother putting legos together more interesting than these characters.

The story? Two words "weak" and "predictable". Again, elements from FFVII and FFIX are mentioned. The story does make perfect sense if you've played these two games, and you get a better understanding. Sure it was nice to see a movie where the planet was trying to be saved from something other than fly saucers and aliems for once, but its pretty pathetic how the story plays out. The story also moves slow and isn't worth even a second of your time. The story could've been better if it wasn't so predictable. You know whos going to die, you know who's going to double cross who, and you know exactly will happen to them.

The music? It wasn't bad or good. It was closer to the bad rank though. The problem with the music is that it doesn't set the mood of the situation. That was the biggest problem with the track.

The graphcis were splended, and by all means thats all this movie really has. The CG graphics were great, but thats probably the only thing that would drive you out to see this other than the fact that for FF fans it was a Final Fantasy.

This movie is not on my recommended lists at all! The only thing that would make you want to see this is the fact that it has good eye candy. But you'll notice that the story moves slow, the character are under developed and the movie was overall predictable.

Summary: Wow.
Review: While this movie had the plot of practically every sci-fi movie, the graphics made up for it many times fold. At first it feels a little wierd, the lip-sync is not quite right, but soon you forget about it. Definatly a milestone in the computer graphics industry.

Summary: WOOF!
Review: This was a great movie! The characters looked so REAL! And the extras are great. I loved the "Thriller" music video!

Summary: Super Graphics
Review: I was so excited to see this movie in the theatres, even though the story line was weak. The computer generated scenes in this movie are out of this world. The characters are so life like that it is scary. The best thing to come out of this movie is the hope that one day we will not need 20 million dollar actors, we will have computer generated actors.

Summary: Trans-Pacific Cooperation Works!
Review: To say that this film broke new ground would be like saying that water is wet. However, aside from the stunning visuals (during a few scenes you have to remind yourself this is animation), the film begins a new era of trans-pacific cooperation in animation. Japanese animation or "Anime" has long been popular in the U.S., but this film combines the work of writers and animators from both nations to create a superlative work that draws from both cultures.

Some viewers have had difficulty following the plot, or found it a bit "video game-ish", but most of these I've spoken to have been able to enjoy the film after learning a bit more about Japanese culture. Not wanting to reveal the whole story, I'll simply point out that most Japanese people practice Shinto, an animistic religion that believes that everything has a spirit, and that many of these spirits can manifest themselves physically (or pseudo-physically) and can help or harm people if they wish.

While I will not say there are no weak points in this film, it is still one of the best animated films I have seen. The character development is good, especially for the secondaries. For example, two of the adult characters express their love for each other like adolescents. This is a subtle reminder of just how long the war for Earth has lasted, as is suggests that neither had a normal (or happy) childhood.

Get this DVD. Find the biggest screen you can find and watch it. A few days later watch it again. It does keep getting better. Oh, and remember to look for a few visual homages to other films.

Summary: Good looks (sometimes), awful everything else
Review: This should be called Sakaguchi's folly. Whatever made him think he could make the leap from video games to a non-interactive movie(?)

The script was terrible, the voice casting and character design (Alec Baldwin's voice coming out of Ben Affleck's doppleganger?), story development...

Even the photorealism was inconsistent. Sometimes it really worked. Sometimes the characters moved like marionettes. And the close-up on Aki's skin... they tried to make it look like real skin with pores and the pores end up looking like the dimples on a golf ball.

There were some great visuals, very impressive technology. But eye candy can only carry a movie so far. Then you have to have good characters, good story, good direction. It just failed on so many levels.

I like sci-fi movies. I like animation. I didn't like this.
