Summary: a cool movie
Review: when i first rented this movie with my dad, i was about 8. i covered my eyes through the parts with the bug and taking out the bug because my dad said i wouldn't like them. i was trying to ignore it, but i couldn't. the fight scenes in this movie are cool. i saw it again with a friend and watched the bug part and it isn't sick. this movie is really good. people say that it has a bad plot but that's not true. i've seen it about 5 times and i'm not sick of it. it is one of my favorite movies. for an R movie, it isn't to scary. i can't wait for 2 and 3.

Summary: I think The Matrix is one of the best movies to date.
Review: When I first saw a comercial for the matrix I was imeadieatly intrigued. The only scene I saw was Keanau Reeves on a roof top, dodging bullets. The scene didn't show much, and I think that's what drew me in. With a lot of movies these days people will see a preview and expect a lot, and more times than not the movie is a huge dissapointment. After I saw The Matrix (for the first time) I was totally satisfied, it was everything I could of expected, it was interesting and is yet another movie that makes you think if Artificial Intellegence is such a good idea. To top it all off The Matrix is a great special effects ride that would impress anyone. I give this film 5 stars and highly recomend its purchase to anyone.

Summary: The BEST film I have ever seen
Review: When i first saw matrix on "coming soon" area,i thought it was another ordinary sci-fiction film but when i watched it,the whole of my ideas about the film has changed,i really wanted to be there, with Neo and Trin and save the world from those bad guys. And if you want to know why it is the best film ever seen,i can say that it is the unique plot and scenario and of course slow motions that makes it a perfect movie.

Summary: Buy it, see it, enjoy it, think about it.
Review: When I first saw The Matrix I didn't understand much of it. OK I thought, good action, breathtaking effects and nicely coreographed fighting-scenes, I assumed that was the whole point; the looks. Then I watched it again and realized that there was a deeper message beneath the surface, a message that can't be fully understood without experiencing it yourself. I've seen it more times than I can count and everytime I watch it something new appears. The Wachowski brothers have obviously put a lot of work into this one. The Matrix is that kind of movie that can make everyone satisfied as it has so much to offer; Action, Sci/Fi, martial arts, filosophy among other things, the combination is brilliant! When seeing other movies I've almost always had something to complain about, too much talking, too much fighting, no message and so on, but when it comes to The Matrix I can't complain. Simply put, this is the best film I've ever seen and it will probably stay in that position for years. You might be confused watching it the first time but I can assure you that you will watch it over and over again. Don't miss the opportunity to see a real masterpiece!

Summary: buy this DVD if you have even the slightest interest in MATR
Review: when i first saw the Matrix i fell asleep after the first half hour, though admittidely(?) i had had no sleep the night before. so i left the theatre thinking the last half hour was good but what was all that stuff at the start about, i usually get stuff like that i am a preety big film buff guy, but seeing as i missed almost 30 mins, i felt i needed to give the film another chance and find out what my friends were going on about. here in the UK the film only left theatres a couple of months ago, so i was priviledged to get the Matrix months before it will come out to rent here, and boy was i priviledged. why pay $25 for a film i didn't really get, well simply because of the amazing extras, they utilise DVD and remind me why i got exited about DVD in the first place - multiple angles, commentary, behind the scenes, essays, interactive features, soundtrack, and in my opinion the best part - screenplay and storyboards - this is so cool, to see the original ideas and how in many cases it turned out how the directors saw it, usually with big action films many of the ideas on paper aren't able make it to the screen, but with this it's different, it gives you a new respect for the scenes in the film. by the way the second time i watched it i totally got it, and watched it again a couple of hours later, which is rare for me. If you only have just the slightest interest in this film and you have DVD-ROM then buy the DVD, it's worth it.

Summary: Marvelous: Descartes¿ Action Thriller
Review: When I first saw the Matrix in the theatres I was immediately taken with the central proposition which looked oddly like one of the options in Descartes' Discourse on Method. What if, and how would we know, we are indeed in a sleep/dream world, manipulated by an external controlling force? How would we know if we were awake or still asleep? Neo sleeps and his brain hints at this possibility. Slowly he is tracked by those from the true world, while agents of the external controlling force also monitor him in an effort to capture the others. Neo is eventually awakened into the 'real world' and the Matrix takes off on it's epic ride of slow motion Kung Fu mayhem and beautifully choreographed gunfights. This combination of cerebral back story and excessive destruction made this movie a hit across all strata of viewing demographics. Everytime I watch it now on DVD there is some new bit to marvel at, either in subtle movements of foreshadowing, the amazing fight scenes, or even the pace and placement of music. I enjoyed it then, and now, it's highly recommended. I also enjoyed the sequel but will get to that when it's released on DVD in a few weeks, and like many others I look forward to the completion of the trilogy in a month.

Summary: Amazing!!
Review: When I first saw the mini-trailers shown in t.v. advertisements, I was afraid of a "Johnny Mnemonic" repeat for Keanu Reeves (sorry!). Boy, was I wrong. This is now one of my favorite movies--I saw it three times in the theater and plan to see it at least another four to five times once it comes out on VHS.

It's basically great eye-candy, mind-bending, and deep. A nice take on an age-old question. Additionally, I haven't seen such a successful blending of action and romance since "True Romance." Also, it was extremely refreshing to see a strong female lead. The character Trinity reminds me of ones in "La Femme Nikita" and "The Long Kiss Goodnight." Thank you!

FYI, re viewer's comment from Sept. 21: Reeves is Eurasian, specifically, half-English and half Chinese-Hawaiian (not "white").

Summary: One of the Greatest Sci-Fi Flicks!!!
Review: When I first saw the trailer for this film I knew I had to see it, I saw images of stuff I hadn't ever seen before and I think that's why this film did so well. It seemed to be a breat of fresh air that the sci-fi realm needed (especially with Episode I being a disappointment). I normally don't like Keanu but he did really well in this one, and Carrie-Ann Moss was exceptional. I really love the way this flick starts out because you don't really know what's going on and it's really mysterious. The sound is awesome on this DVD and there doesn't seem to be any articacts on the video, if only we had a DTS sound selection.

Summary: Funky Eye Candy, but don't think too hard about it.
Review: When I first saw this film I didn't have much of an idea of the plot, and thus no preconceptions. However I would say the initial 2/3rds of the film were executed perfectly. The concept behind the film has been written and discussed many times before, and it was great to see a solid screen representation of these ideas. The latter 3rd of the film I found changed direction completely to a more traditional Hollywood action fest, albeit one of the best in that genre. Therefore all the thinking, questions and links provided in the initial part of the film could be forgotten as we get down to some funky effects and scrapping. One other thing to note is the soundtrack, although great and matching the look and feel of the movie, I would have prefered even more contemporary tracks as opposed to music which came out eons ago e.g. Rage Against The Machine, Propellerheads, Ministry etc.. Nevertheless, very highly reccommended as a fun evening out; even the wife was impressed :-))

Summary: Great Idea, Great Movie
Review: When I first saw this film in the theatre I didn't really "get it." I just sat there happily enjoying the special effects, which are outstanding. When I saw it a second time I was thinking "What kind of person thought of this." The Wachowtski(??) brothers are geniuses. The plot is very involving and the special effects are great. This is one of my favorites.
