Summary: An extrodinary vision of crossroads in human life
Review: This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Terry Gilliam's vision of the world is very provocative and intriguing. The acting is great, the story is excellent, and this is probably Brad Pitt's best performance ever. I have both DVD versions - with and without DTS soundtrack. However, the non-DTS collector's edition has a glitch - when you press 'menu' key on the DVD remote during watching a documentary about the making of '12 Monkeys', the DVD player freezes and you have to shut it down, in order to return to the movie. I've tried this on 2 discs - mine and the other one, that I've rented from the video store. I have plenty of DVDs, and this is the issue with this particular movie. If someone had similar experience, please post the message, stating that. This way I know, that there's nothing wrong with my equipment. But again, the film itself is a real gem.

Summary: Very well done.
Review: Great acting, great script, great direction, great everything. Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis show that yes, they can act well. I still think Pitt deserved the Oscar for his role. And how come Willis was automatically looked over for what was obviously his best performance ever? It does get a bit confusing at times, but if you watch it once or twice, you'll get it.

Summary: I *love* time travel...
Review: This movie is so great, you can watch it over and over again. It is truly a shame that Brad Pitt didn't get the supporting Oscar for his preformance. Willis really gets to show his acting talents as well. This is not your typical 'Bruce Willis' action flick. It is a thought provoking movie.

The DVD is worth buying due to the fact that you can spend an addtional 2 hours watching all of the bonuses! Universal *really* knows how to put together great DVDs! Highly recommended.

Summary: Highly suspensefull, keeps you on the edge of your seat!
Review: Once you resign youself to the fact that time travel ultimately nullifies the true possibility of this film, "12 Monkeys" is a superb techno-thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. For several hours after the fact, you will easily find yourself poring over the plot, and desperate to watch it again to see what subtle cues you may have missed the first time. The ending of the movie makes the whole story worthwhile.

Summary: Twelve Monkeys shines, but not so simply
Review: From beginning to end, Twelve Monkeys is the ultimate thinking person's sci-fi movie. Perhaps that's its only drawback. Because it lacks the shoot'um up gore of its contemporaries, it's underrated. Still it ranks as one of the best sci-fi movies of the 90's. The story, like time, doesn't unfold straightforward but in dizzying flashbacks and maddening visions. Bruce Willis, in his one of his best performances, [is?] twenty-first century timetraveler James Cole whose mission is to go back and stop a potentially apocalyptic virus from being unleashed. Brad Pitt(in an Oscar-deserving role) plays an unhinged psychotic who may have his hands on Pandora's vile. And Madeline Stowe is unspectacular, but okay, as Willis's courageous ally. What makes Twelve Monkeys shine is it personifies the addage 'perseption is reality'. Director Terry Gilliam's time travel tale starts out smoothly. But he banks left and plunges alone into the dark waters of psychiatrics and the apocalypse, leaving the viewer clinging to every word and action in Twelve Monkeys like floatsam. The result is a true work of art because even when it's over, you're still unsure if mankind is saved or if it's all just a figment of several people's warped imaginations.

Summary: Great movie with great acting on a great disc.
Review: I love this movie. Pitt, Willis, Stowe are great and Gilliam is one of the best. The video and audio quality are good, and the disc is loaded with extras.

Summary: See it again
Review: Another Gilliam classic that gets better with each viewing. Different aspects of the plot and chracters are revealed each time. After seeing it in the theater I knew that this was a movie I had to own, and have probably watched it about 10 times since the LD release. Bruce is outstanding, Pitt is hysterical, and you see both of their butts, if you care about that sort of thing :-)

Summary: One of the Smartest Sci-Fi Films of All Time
Review: This movie has to rank as one of the smartest sci-fi flics of all time. The plot is brilliant. I've never seen another film deal with the paradoxes of time travel as intelligently as Twelve Monkeys. Not a movie to watch if you're feeling depressed though. A real downer.

Summary: A new classic
Review: This movie has many twists and turns and is at times somewhat confusing. It is remarkable however, that it all comes together and makes perfect sense in the end. 12 Monkeys has an element of sci-fi which is necessary for the plot, hover the focus of the film is on the action, drama and suspense that combine in a way that is reminiscent of classics such as Hitchcock's Vertigo (of which a small clip can be seen in 12 Monkeys) Highly recommended.

Summary: One of the best scifi futuristic movie I seen
