Summary: It moves! It grooves! It's out of control!
Review: Disney does Warner Brothers. That's what best sums up this rolicking, non-stop gag fest. No cutesy side kick, no beautiful princess, no flashy computer effects, no songs (well only one small one), no real moral, just a heck of a good time waiting to be had by all. Simply put, if you like to laugh, you'll love this film. Children will enoy the bright colors, quick pace and wacky characters. Adults will enjoy all that plus all the jokes that go over younger ones heads. This is truly a film for all ages.

Not only is the film great, but the presentation is fantastic. This is a digital to digital transfer, which mean no degredation at all from the original source. Colors and textures practically leap right off the screen and into your lap. Sound is crisp, clear and presented in Dolby Digital as well as DTS. You'll want to experience this one in all it's surround sound glory. Also included on the DVD is an action adventure game that's pretty darn good considering that you have to control it with your remote control. There's also a funny viedo that teaches you how to dance like a llamma! The kids will love these features.

Now what really make's this presentation shine is the second DVD. It offers a veritable rosetta stone of animation, taking you more in depth than any making of I've seen (and I've been getting behind the scenes info for years now thanks to laserdisc). From development and story to clean up and sound it's all here in detailed splendor. You'll even have to chance to view side by side comparisons of different animation stages to see how the film evolves. Taking a more hands on approach, you'll get to actually choose which combo of the three different soundtrack elements of one scene to play. This feature really shows you the power of sound and how it adds depth and excitement to a film. This second DVD is entertainig, fun and enlightening. Not to be missed for Disney fans (you get to see up close and personal the Disey Animatin building), animation buffs or people who just loved the film and would like to see more.

Get hip to the groove and pick this one up fast. Your entire family is sure to enjoy it immensley. It's wild! It's crazy! It's down right hillarious! And the second disc will only deepen your appreciation of Disney artistry. The emperor has ordered a new groove and this is it!

Summary: Disney's best in a long period of time!
Review: Everything works so stunningly and effectively in The Emperor's New Groove, a fantastical, brilliantly hilarious Disney film that is the best picture to come out of the studio in a long time. It has all the ingredients to become a Disney classic - cool story, star-studded voicing and all the jokes you could want out of any genre. The script puts the characters in impossible situations which bravo cleverness, and although the film relies a little too much on Pacha and Kuzco (the two main characters) falling through things to make us laugh, it works, doesn't it? Patrick Warburton does an utterly amazing voicing job with the innocent, strong, angel guided Kronk, while David Spade puts terrific effort into the character of Kuzco. Sarcastically funny and fast-paced with its wit, The Emperor's New Groove is well worth your money at the cinema. I saw it twice, and that is sure to become three times sooner than later.

Summary: Fun movie!
Review: This movie has the plainest animation of the past Disney movies, but it's the funnest. Even if you dislike Disney, you'll laugh and find this story thoroughly entertaining.

The characters were vivid, alive, and above all, fun. The voice casting was excellent.

This is different from the other animated features, and that's just fine. IT works better that way.

Summary: A departure for Disney in this animated feature
Review: This DVD has been a real surprise hit with our family since my Mom came into town from across the country and wanted to stop and buy something for our son. The 'New Gwoove' as he calls it wasn't advertised as well as it could have been in the movies, but its got a stellar cast including the hilarious David Spade as the llama. David Spade really steals the show in this DVD with funny comments, outrageous situations, as well as playing off the fact that going from being the emporer into being a llama just is not what it is all cracked up to be.

After getting turned into a llama this story takes the viewer on an adventure that is clever, fun, with lots of characters getting in the way, out of the way, and generally making a big mess. The animation is clever and, of course, the music is good too.

Its a real departure from the standard disney film (love story romance), but enjoyable regardless. In fact, its kind of nice to have a fun disney film that doesnt fit into the standard mold. The movie is laced with adult humor similar to the stuff that is in Toy Story and Toy Story II. Both your kids and the adults should find something to enjoy in this film.

Summary: Disney surprises with a truly original gem!!
Review: "The Emperor's New Groove" is one of the lightest, most fun, and hilarious cartoons in recent memory. And no, this one, unlike recent Disney movies is not an animated motion picture...it is a cartoon, plain and simple. A cartoon that breaks almost all of Disney's regular rules. What do I mean by that? What is the normal Disney formula? Musical numbers. Love story. Beautiful heroine. Handsome, strong hero. Touching morals. "The Emperor's New Groove" has none of that (almost)! In this story, the lead character is a nasty S.O.B. for most of the movie, and his lovable sidekick is the true hero. And the only possible moral, about how it's more important to be a good person than a powerful leader, is so subtle and underplayed that it's almost non-existent. No, this movie does not exist to give lessons to children or to display the usual classic coming-of-age story Disney is famous for. This movie exists purely to entertain with animated shenanigans. And when I said "cartoon," I meant it. Not in a long time has there been a Disney movie where the characters practically KNOW they're cartoon characters. These characters gleefully flaunt their ability to exist in a world where they could run off a cliff, keep walking, realize there's no ground beneath them, look at each other, then at the audience, and then...fall. Just like an old Warner Bros. or Chuck Jones cartoon! This film really recaptured all the fun antics that cartoon characters can have because they do not have to abide by the laws of the real world. They can turn into other creatures. They can crash into walls and never get hurt (even though their faces might get flattened), etc. etc. At one point, the main character even interrupts the movie, steps in front of the cell, and starts drawing on it like a storyboard. That reminded me so much of the old Looney Tune where Daffy Duck is drawn into tons of different scenes by a wisecracking cartoonist who turns out to be Bugs Bunny. Disney doesn't seem to have had this much fun since the Genie from "Aladdin" and "Who Framed Roger Rabbit." If you're in the mood for a fun cartoon, I'd especially recommend this movie to adults who are fans of Looney Tunes, Chuck Jones, Hannah Barbera...anything on the Cartoon Network. Remember, you are not seeing a kid's movie. But a glorious, wonderful...cartoon! And if you are going to buy it, you must buy the 2-Disc "Ultimate Groove" set. It is amazing, with an entire extra disk that is literally a "film-school-in-a-box". It leads you through the entire process of creating a cartoon, from storyboards to sketches to the finished product. You see cartoonists, the actors who do the voices, and get to see the insides of the Disney studios. You don't even get this close on the tour of the animation stuidos when you go to Disney World. It is truly a fascinating, very detailed look at the making of a movie. The packaging is also wonderful. The cover art is some of the coolest I've ever seen for a DVD. I'd rank it up there with "Fight Club" as the best cover art for a DVD available now.

Summary: Where's Bugs Bunny?
Review: The Emperor's New Groove is like a Bugs Bunny and friends cartoon but is missing Bugs Bunny & Friends. David Spade is the voice of a young full of himself emperor named Kuzco. He catchs his advisor named Yzma (Eartha Kitt) trying to run the kingdom and fires her.

Yzma decides to get back at her ex-boss and try to posion him. And she works out her plan with her right-hand man named Kronk (Patrick Warburton). But instead of poison him, Kuzco gets turned into a llama.

A man named Pacha (John Goodman) finds him. Kuzco hopes to built a summer home on Pacha's land. But Pacha doesn't want that to happen. So Pacha strikes a deal with Kuzco that he will help him through the jungle if Kuzco will break ground somewhere else.

Wendie Malick plays John Goodman's wife. This movie was going to have songs all over the place but Disney cut the film and drawed up new things and made this out of it. Hey kids, if your parents gives you trouble tben turn them into llamas.

Summary: Hilarious! Deserved better advertising!
Review: Somewhere along the lines Disney decided to go lower scale with this instant classic. I'm not saying that's a bad thing. It's reminiscent of great Disney films like Sword In the Stone and Ichabod and Mr. Toad in that respect. What came out of it all is certainly Disney magic! I just think we should have seen more previews for this film, and more merchandising rather than the small offering from McDonald's! Sorry, I know there's some kind of big anti-merchandising attitude out there right now, so most people probably like the lack of stuffed animals for this movie at the Disney store, but frankly, I love having action figures and stuffed toys of all my favorite Disney and non-Disney movies! Anyway, that complaint aside, this was a GREAT Disney movie! It was soooooo funny! The highlight of course was Warburton's character Kronk! Get this movie ASAP, and watch it! You do have to bare with the opening in my opinion though. I didn't find that part all that funny, which is not a good thing because the opening really needs to hook the audience. Still, if you stick with it you'll find yourself caught up in one of the funniest movies you'll ever see! Only the little kids in the movie were annoying. I do have to say one thing about Disney lately, every time they do little kids they seem to make them waaaaaaaay too obnoxious! I mean, I guess kids ARE obnoxious, but as with all cartoons, you tend to exhaggerate and they come out,...not very likable. I mean, like even in one of my all time favorites, the Lion King, Simba and Nala as little kids were waaaay too spoiled and obnoxious in my opinion. Anyway, this is a minor comment, as in both films they don't get all that much screen time. Well, maybe Simba, but it's Nala that was really annoying. Okay, to sum it up though, except for a couple of annoyances, this movie is GREAT! Really hilarious! A pure comedy, that should be noted. Not much along the lines of romance and drama, so if you're looking for the typical Disney movie that has it all, this one isn't that type. It's perfect for what it is though, a COMEDY! And for those of you who keep complaining that Disney lost its magic for a while, get serious! Disney never lost it. Not with its animation anyway. That statement has become such a cliche because if you read the reviews they are so inconsistent. I mean, what people like and don't like when it comes to Disney is usually always different, so if Disney really lost the magic for a while, when was it? Everyone's answer is different! So basically what you should be saying is for a shot time Disney stopped catering to YOUR tastes! I mean, honestly! Personally, I can only think of one or two Disney animated films that were a bit magic-less, or anyway, not up to Disney standards, in my opinion. Mainly Pocahontas because it was so dry. Only Meeko, Flit, and Percy were good in that one, and the Black Cauldron was a bit gritty and too Hobbit-like, and the original Rescuers was also a bit bland for me, but they're all still better than most non-Disney productions. But here's the thing, for all those Disney films you might not think were any good, there is a large group of people out there who loves them! You know, there are some people out there, crazy in my opinion, who don't think Disney animation was worth watching until the Little Mermaid came along! And then there are those who are equally nuts, who think that's when it started to suck! Okay, I've had my say about that. Disney's like any other studio, except a lot better. They have hits and misses, but generally a lot more hits than misses in the animation area. I hope to be working in Disney animation someday soon myself. So the last thing I'm gonna say is this, I won't be picking up this Emeror's New Groove 2-pack till tomorrow, and I cannot wait! But I do have to say that when I really love Disney DVD's is when they include classic Disney short cartoons and TV programs as extras, and according to amazon it doesn't look like we're getting that here, and that kinda stinks. When it comes to these special collector's editions I think only Fantasia has included any bonus classic shorts. That's too bad. The best ones I've gotten so far are Pete's Dragon, because it had a whole program about loch ness from Disney's Wonderful World of Color I believe, with rare animation! Which is what I'm really after! Hope they sell one with that Moby Duck special sometime! And then there was A Goofy Movie, with an episode of Goof Troop! AND another Disney TV episode! Those two were great! Okay, that's all for now! Enjoy the Emperor's New Groove!

Summary: Emperor's New Grove
Review: It Rocks! One of the best disney movies around. Not all that horrible singing. It will make you laugh. Fun for all ages. Very close to being as good as Aladdin. Maybe even better.

Summary: Worth it
Review: After recent Disney releases, this is really a great, new, and original movie! Disney has lately been going down-hill, what with all of the sequels they have made that don't even measure up to the originals. This was one of the funniest movies that I have ever seen! Not just for kids, adult humor makes it great for everyone! I completely and totally recommend this movie.

Summary: Disney back on track
Review: After a few Disney disappointments and Dreamworks successes, it was beginning to look like Disney had lost their edge, however this magical film has recaptured Disney's magic in allits glory. The villian is reminiscent of Cruella DeVille, but with magic backing her up.

This cartoon/movie has a unique hero in that he's not a stereotypical Disney good-guy.

The humor is fast paced and clever. Another Disney success.
