Summary: A Lasting Favorite That Shouldn't Be Missed!
Review: Man, what is there to say about Fern Gully? This is the first the movie I ever saw in theaters (I'm fifteen now) and I don't think I've forgotten it since. Sure, it may have simmered on the back burners of mind for a while there, but it was never truly forgotten, which should give a clue to the impact this movie can have.

Characterized by some supremely impressive voice performances (namely Robin Williams (Batty Koda) and Tim Curry (Hexxus)) and some catchy songs, Fern Gully is at a first glance a child's make-believe movie about some faeries living in a forest. Closer inspection reveals the imminent threat of deforestation and pollution, and a bit of a romance aspect as well, which can hold the attention of older children, and some of the lines of dialogue, particularly Batty's, can have even an adult laughing, though a child might not know why. The heroine, Crysta, triumphs in the end with the support of her friends and through the power of her own soul. Most of the songs seem a little childish, but there are some good ones about animal testing, the food chain, and pollution. (Okay there's a REALLY good one about animal testing in labs--poor Batty!) This movie has a little bit of something for everyone, and is definitely worth watching again...and again...and again...

Of course, there are a few flaws. The animation can seem a little off in places, though this is more just a technical detail that annoys me than a flaw. Some of the scenes with the big leveler that is tearing down the forest can be a bit noisy, and may or may not cause nightmares in small children, as could the last battle with the big Hexxus-skeleton-evil-thingy.

Overall, though, this is a great film for kids and adults alike, and with an ecological message to boot! A must see!

((And seriously, if for no other reason, see it for Robin Williams as Batty Koda. He always was my favorite character, and his dialogue will crack you up! "Tails? Humans don't have tails! They have big, big bottoms that they wear with bad shorts and walk around going 'Hi Helen!'"))

Summary: A magical animated movie!
Review: Set in Australia, a magical rainforest named " Ferngully" is occupied by many fairies and animals alike but is in danger. Humans are tearing it down, they also accidently unleash a evil spirit called " Hexxus" who plans on destroying the forest. A beautiful fairy named " Crysta" finds a good hearted human and shrinks him down to human size so that he can help her save the rainforest.

A very entertaining, magical and good hearted animated movie with good humor, cool animation and a message about saving the rainforests. The voice acting is also superb such as Tim Curry, Robin Williams, Christian Slater, Cheech Marin, Tommy Chong, Tone Loc, Samantha Matahas and Jonathan Ward.

Summary: A Rare Gem
Review: There are very few movies that we can watch more than once. Fern Gully is one of a handful of them, and it's great for the whole family! Wonderful catchy music, beautiful and clever animation, creative characters, classic lines, great voices, and a nice, relatively subtle environmental message. There are so many ridiculous movies out there for kids that have the same predictable plots. It's refreshing to have a movie like this come along. I can't wait to get it on DVD!

Summary: Fern Gully Animated Video - 1st of two
Review: This has got to be my favorite animated video yet!! I love the characters, the story, the music, the action. It is absolutely delightful. I had it some time ago and lost it, so finally, after searching store after store, found it here and ordered it immediately, and it was just as I remembered. My grandchildren also love it, but don't even compare to my opinion of this video. I never was much on animated video's or cartoons until this one came along, and I can't even count the number of times I've watched it. I never get tired of it. I'm sure I will wear this one out in no time!! It has a great picture, great sound and I received it almost immediately. I'm so happy with it, and orderd the second one also.

Summary: This is a cute movie that supports saving the rainforrest
Review: This is a very cute movie that teaches kids how it is important to save the rainforrest. This movie is also very funny with Robin Willams as the voice of the bat. And of course we have Tim Curry as the voive of the villian named "Hexus" which appears to be smog but is a evil spirit. Tim Curry has a great musical number titled "Toxic Love". I recommend buying the soundtreack also. A must see for Tim Curry fans!!!

Summary: Magical and with a message...
Review: This is a wonderful movie to show your children, your friends, and your family of all ages! Very rarely do we see a movie that is sending a message so nature-based. Some would say that this movie is too frightening for children but what people have been doing to the Earth is frightening! The bat is a blast, funny and of course voiced by Robin Williams! This is one of my all time favorite movies, not only for the fairies :) but the underlying message it's sending to humans about destroying what is sacred in nature.
Buy this movie my friend and blessed be!
