Rating: Summary: Not a video for small children Review: We got this video for our four year old daughter and it was so scary to her she is petrified to go anywhere alone in our home now. I thought the evil magical book was far too sinister looking and although it was a good story, I do not recommend it for small children or those who are easily scared.
Rating: Summary: Care Bears...Commercialism, Goodness, or BOTH? Review: Okay, whether you agree or disagree about the commercialism of this movie, most people (with the exception of Amazon's critic, apparently) would tell you that it is just a plain old-fashioned good thing for kids to watch! I watched the Care Bears, including this movie and the cartoon TV show, when I was a kid, and it re-iterated the things that my mom spent so much time trying to teach me...that there is good in the world, that caring and being a friend is more important than always having/doing things 'your own way', and that love is everything. These are values that have unfortunately gone missing in most of the cartoons today. Luckily, this movie is still around for my own children to watch and learn from, so they can still get good wholesome entertainment with a positive message. Was it commercialism? Yes. But then again, so are 99% of the cartoons out there today. Seriously...who can name one cartoon on TV today, or one big hit movie at the theatres, that doesn't have it's own line of toys, lunchboxes, sleeping bags, sheets, stuffed animals, etc? And yes, those toys do come out, often several months, before the movie. The point is this: Who cares if there was commercialism involved? There is in most things in life, but at least The Care Bears Movie also sends a loving, positive, caring message to kids!
Rating: Summary: Sit back and enjoy. Review: There it was just lying on a Best Buy shelf, waiting for a mother of small children or a serious '80's buff to buy it and believe me 10 bucks is a sweet deal for such a rarity. I first got into the Care Bears when I was 4 now I'm 21 and proud to say I still care for these cool bears. This full-length film is criticized as being an hour long commercial to sell merchandise based on the new Care Bear Cousins. Though it seems to be true after watching it, I realized there is something more. As the Care Bears travel to an Earth gone mad they are being followed by the cause of the madness. A friendless boy possessed by an evil spirit bent on turning the whole world into a wasteland of hatred. Watch this movie again if you have it or are totally against it, because you might learn a thing or two about the Care Bears. This movie proves that the Care Bears are not invincible. The Care Bear Cousins provide the extra strength and ability the Care Bears could not supply alone. Some of these examples include aqua abilities (Cozy Heart Penguin), air ability (Playful Heart Monkey) and night vision (Bright Heart Raccoon) just to name a few. Plus the song and scene where the Cousins get their tummy symbols is always fun to watch. The movie's story is not as good as the second, but what I like about this one, is the fact that all the care bears actually say at least one line each, even Secret Bear! If you are a new fan or an old school fan, let this review be a reminder that the Care Bears are back! Who knows, there may even be another movie.
Rating: Summary: This movie is great! Review: I also can't believe the review that amazon.com gave this movie! As a huge fan of the Care Bears, and a student teacher, this movie is a good movie for young children. It helps young children understand and put words to their feelings. This makes this movie a great resource for both teachers and parents of young children. As a Care Bear fan, I absolutly love this movie as well as the others, including the TV cartoon! Anyone with young children or who is a Care Bear fan should get this movie!
Rating: Summary: Great for kids Review: I love this movie for my two tots. It is a relief that there are kids movies out there with no violence and actually encourages caring and sharing, it is a nice change from the Tom and Jerry flicks which is brimming with voilent acts such as bashing heads in and dropping pianos. So this is why I give it 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: I love The carebears!!! Review: Goodness , how many years passed by since the last time i saw this movie, it was nice to bring back childhood memories. I almost forgot how cute the penguin, rabbit and kitten from the forest of feelings were. NOt to forget baby hugs and tugs, i truly enjoyed watching the care bear movies again. The message carried out in this movie is nice, People need friends, don;t push them away.
Rating: Summary: Care Bears .... Review: Care Bears make us want to be happier, caring people. I really enjoyed the movie and am going to add it to my list for Christmas. This is a movie that I would like to share with my kids and I hope that they feel the same about it. Care Bears were a staple when I was a child and I would rather have my children hooked on the bears with the "saccharine songs" and the "threadbare story" of love and caring, than some of the cartoons available today.
Rating: Summary: this movie is great for all ages Review: i was obsessive about this movie when i was little and now i had to re purchase it cuz i wore the thing out. WAY BETTER THAN THE SEQUEL!!! a movie like this proves that toys of the 80's were funner to collect,(I myself own two sets of the WHOLE bear collection) and had a much more positive image than some of the stuff today. These songs are catchy and cute, and overall happy. a must own for any care bear fan! Have fun reminiscing!
Rating: Summary: Childhood Magic Returns Review: What child of the 80's didn't love the CareBears? I personally had everything CareBears I could get my hands on - I still have each and every poseable. We all were smart enough to know then that the Care Bears were magic, and that Care-a-Lot was a place we wanted to be. It hasn't changed. The Care Bear Movie is childhood magic all over again - and is one of the few that is as good today as it was when I was 8.
Rating: Summary: a childhood classic Review: I liked this movie but I prefer the sequel over this one.
