Summary: "A Caring Movie for Kids"
Review: I have seen this movie as I was a kid and I still like the Care Bears (Cheer Bear was one of my most favorites) I hate to say. This U.S./Canadian movie is heartfully based on the popular merchandising toys, but the movie actually works. The "working" part is Mickey Rooney who provides the voice of Mr. Cherrywood as he narrates to his children about the Bears who live in Care-A-Lot and keep on caring for the world, especially when they're faced with battling the Evil Spirit who has taken over Nicholas' mind. Two friends Kim and Jason try to help out to save the day, too. I percieve this movie as a real good lesson in an OK cartoon feature. But try not to let the kids get hung over too much with this "caring" movie, because they'll be asking for a sequel, and you know how a sequel can get. Nelvana Limited/Samuel Goldwyn Company, 1985, Rated G.

Summary: The Care Bears are Back
Review: This is a wonderful movie. It brings back great memories. I remember when I watched The Care Bear Movie for the first time as a child and I loved it. I bought the movie for my children ages 4 & 7 and have enjoyed it even more. It is a wonderful story about how even when things are at their worst, love and friendship can help to make it better. Nicholas is a sad, friendless boy who gets tricked by an evil book into making the world a place without caring. With the help of orphans, Kim and Jason, the care bears and the care bear cousins, Nicholas realizes that he truly has friends after all. He ends up being the most caring of all. My daughter sings all of the songs with the movie and watches it over and over. If the choice for cartoons was between care bears and spongebob squarepants, care bears would win every time.

Summary: A Cute Movie For The Little Ones!
Review: I Saw the Care Bears movie with my nephews when this movie was in the theaters and being 20 years old at the time I really wasn't looking forward to watching what looked like a sappy, cutsey kids cartoon but it was actually kind of cute and I could see why little kids liked the Care Bears because they are really cute and unscary and though I agree that they are a little too commercial because of the Saturday Morning cartoon and all of the merchandise but besides that I think it's harmless and a great movie for the little ones, especially ages 3 to 6 years old.

Summary: VERY SCARY
Review: My five year old daughter asked me to return this to the store! She was very scared of the evil spirit. Overall, it is not a happy movie and does not portray kindhearted carebears.

Summary: I beg your pardon!!
Review: The Amazon.com review is totally unfair!! I can't believe the sarcasm and vitriol behind it!!

Admittedly, this film WAS designed 90% to sell the toys and greeting cards and other material based on the Care Bears. However, of all the animated series created during the 80s (and now!) this one actually had something good to say. MANY, MANY good things to teach children of the "Material Girl" era: that love, caring, loyalty, and friendship were the best things in life to value, and are the most enduring values in this world. The movie was fun, the characters cute, the story (while slightly thin) was straightforward, and the performances were great.

If someone wanted to find out more about the first Care Bears Movie (there were two more made), they wouldn't get a true feeling of what the movie is about by reading your review. That, to me, is a disservice!

I give this movie 4 stars. Since I'm a total Care Bears fan, I would normally give it 5 stars; but to be fair, it is a "commercial" movie. Thus, 4 stars, but much love to the movie anyway. If you (as a shopper) are looking at purchasing the Care Bears Movie for the first time, I would rent it from your local video/DVD rental store (or from Netflix) first before making any decisions. I think you'll like it, though!

Summary: Good, but wait for Director's Cut
Review: The Care Bears movie is pretty good, but they had to cut out an extended scene to get a G rating. Supposedly the NC-17 rated director's cut is coming out later this year, which will feature the infamous scene where Grumpy Bear rapes Good Luck Bear with a beer bottle.

Until then, this will do fine.

Summary: Commercialism?
Review: What isn't commercialism? Face it, commercialism is what brings us the very best of entertainment sometimes, and as a child, I got a lot of joy from the care bears. I'm happy they were popular enough to make that much money and I'm ecstatic to see them around again. Some toys are classics, and these are certainly just that. I think a certain editor needs to write more on the appeal to children, as that's what we're looking for in a review, most likely. We know they're making money but are they making children happy? That's the important thing, and personally, I was a happy little carebear-obsessed child.

Summary: This movie has a scary character
Review: I bought this because our 3-year old gets scared really easily. I thought this would be safe but was I wrong! The evil spirit is really scary and the character, Nicholas, becomes a bit evil under her command. I think the story line is horrible and I dont think kids really learn anything about friendship or anything else from this. I have hidden this movie and I hope our child forgets we have it. What a waste of money.

Summary: Inexplicable and So Slow!
Review: First, let me say that my 2 year old received this as a gift and really loves it. However, no one else in the family can stand it. The characters are generally mean spirited (except of course for the bears) and no one really cares if they get redeemed. Further, the story moves VERY SLOWWWWLY, and I cannot emphasize this point enough. The story is very convoluted and does little to demonstrate to children what good storytelling can be. Save your money.

Summary: Great movie!
Review: This is one of the best children's movies I have ever seen. I was obsessed with the care bears when I was younger (wallpaper, stuffed bears...everything). Now that they have come back, I couldn't help but fall in love with them all over again. I even asked for the DVD for Christmas ....The movie itself is very cute. It has all the great characters and even their cousins. It makes you just feel warm and happy (like Disneyland). Definitely a great movie for kids, young and old!
