Rating: Summary: Exciting, interesting, magical and sweet Review: Totoro was my daughter's favorite movie when she was three and four. With two little girls as the main characters (with character) it is a must have for all little girls, though good for boys, too - as my son, now 3 has started to request it. Not a typical children's movie. Very Special!
Rating: Summary: Weird, wonderful Review: Everyone I know who's seen this movie has loved it, be they children or adults. Lots of replay value, too...just buy it, you'll like it
Rating: Summary: WONDERFUL~MAGICAL~HAPPY! Review: Someone recommended this movie to us and reluctantly we rented it. WOW! I have 5 children, and although my oldest being 18 is too old to enjoy it, the other 4 sure did! From age 4 to 11 they were enchanted! Older children may not want to admit it, but I'll bet they will be very interested, and it is a difficult movie to walk away from! Lots of happy sounds and catchy music! I have since bought Kiki's Adventure (another one they love) and am looking for Castle in the Sky!
Rating: Summary: This is a magical and fantastical movie for young children Review: My children ages 3 and 4 enjoyed this movie from start to finish. The 4 year old is a boy and has been tackling the idea of big scary monsters for the past month. This movie helped him realize that big isn't always scary and that he and his sister could enjoy something together. It is a magical movie and I recommend it for young children everywhere.
Rating: Summary: Comfortable Review: When I was a kid in Korea, I usally saw animation movies - mostof them were Sci-Fi stroies with violences. I was surprised how ananimation movie can give me such peace and comfort. I suddenly felt how much I have been addicted to unnecessary violences and stimulus of movies from Hollywood or Disney. Maybe, it is true that I am also addicted to caffeine and other stuffs. It is important to realize that we are living everyday polluted with something... I believe this movie can do it for some people. A great animation movie..
Rating: Summary: not enough stars for this movie Review: As parents, we've been buying lot of Disney animated movies for our kids (9 and 2 year old). Then one day we saw this cute litle creature on the cover of this Japanese video cover, I decided to buy it and what an investment that was. From that momemnt on we fell in love with every single charecter of the movie, yes, there is no need for a villain in this movie, no bad guys, and the movie still great, Disney should take note of this. Totoro came into our family life such as a fresh breeze and gave us a total new look on kid's movie, more magical than any Disneyesque stuffs we saw in the past. The story was so original, the rural Japan backgound and the school scene reminded me Viet Nam of my youth ( yes , Viet Nam, when there was no fighting nearby). I wept when the kids cried and laughed throghuout the movie, specially my 2 year old. She must watch it every night before she can sleep.
Rating: Summary: The BEST anime movie of its time.(next to Princess Mononoke) Review: This movie is a magical ride for a child or adult. It is beautifully animated and wonderfully told. When you are feeling down, pop this movie into the VCR and become instantly happy. Except, I wish they would sell it on DVD. Because once you watch a movie on DVD you never want to go back to a VCR again.
Rating: Summary: This was one of my most Favourite Chidhood memories Review: This first time I watched this film, i left the cinema with the biggest smile ever (^_^). T
Rating: Summary: Magical animation that glues our 4- and 2-yr olds Review: I normally do not buy Japanese movie videos mainly because unfortunately they are mostly not entertaining (There are some good ones, I admit.). But, when I happened to see this animation shown at Kinokuniya Bookstore in NYC, I was glued to the video screen for a while. The picture was so detailed and beautiful. So, I bought one. My kids have been watching it a couple of times a day since I bought it four months ago. My 4-year old daughter indentifies herself with "Mei" (or May?).The things that appear on Totoro are clearly from 50s and early 60s in rural Japan. They must appeal to Japanese people in my generation or older. "Auto Sanrin" (three-wheel truck), for example. I cannot wait to see his other works. We just saw Kiki's Delivery Service this weekend. I like KDS better than Totoro because KDS has a better story structure and exciting scenes in it. I hear "Castle in the Sky" will be released some time this year. Does anyone know when?
