Rating: Summary: GOOD DESPITE THE FLAWS! Review: After the travesty that was "Highlander II: The Quickening" (which was later re-edited into what I believe is the best of the films, "Highlander II: Renegade Version."), the producers waited four years to release this second sequel. Although it is a fair leap up from the original version of "Highlander II," it is by far the worst of the films. But that doesn't mean that it's a bad film. It has some great acting, great visual effects and exciting conflict. The problems are only two:1) THE STORY: The storyline was a bit hodge-podged, and it was a bit hard to follow. 2) THE DIRECTOR'S CUT: Hoping for something more, the Director's Cut seems to offer just one thing: sex. Now I'll admit that the women are good-looking, but I was hoping for more action of the swordfight kind. Here, I was a bit dissapointed. This is a good film. But rent it first. Grade: B-
Rating: Summary: Gets the movie series back on track Review: After the major disappointment of Highlander 2, Final Dimension follows all the rules set by the original movie.(except by the end of the orginal the main character was already the last one left)Some might have a valid point that the power of alusion the rival has is a little corny and the movie would have been better if that was left out.
Rating: Summary: Lets throw together a piece of ...to make money Review: Ok. I'm a highlander fan. The first movie was by no means an academy award winner, but I enjoyed it and it created a cult following that has spawned a tv show and several dismal sequels. ...I will give it that much. Unable to hold a flame to the original, this would have made a better second sequel. The second movie totally threw the franchise out of whack, and doomed the series to be constantly scrambling to make sense of the Highlander "universe". Back to this movie though (leaving all criticism of the alien world or earth's past behind *shudder*), I liked Mario Van Peebles, he played his character well and generally brought the idea of a monstrous villian across....As for Lambert, still the same old Connor but less dark and mysterious, more brooding and depressed for most of the movie. It's worth a watch if you're a highlander fan or just looking for a decent sword-swinging action flick. But do not expect gold...more like copper or less than copper...zinc or aluminum maybe. I give this movie 2 stars but I'd rather 1.5, since I didn't mind the premise, enjoyed the new villian but utterly hated the production job. But when you look at any Highlander sequel, you can't really say the production job was good anyway...
Rating: Summary: Last movie with Lambert as the star Review: This is a great movie to makeup for the screw up of Highlander 2. This movie forgets that that ever happened. Our famous hero, Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert) is back, thinking he has won the prize. How wrong he is. He has gone eight years thinking that from his killing of The Kurgan, he has the prize and it is over. It won't be over until he faces off against his ruthless enemy Kane (Mario Van Peebles). Shortly after Connor's first wife Heather (Beatie Edney) died, Connor saught out the guidance of Nakano, a Chinese immortal swords master. Kane, an old enemy of Nakano, finds both Connor and Nakano, and kills Nakano. As a result of the quickening, Kane is buried under rock for 400 years, and when surges himself free, seeks out the Highlander. Deborah Under also stars. Don't miss the last Highlander movie with Christopher Lambert as the star. Because in Highlander Endgame, you see much more of the other Highlander, Adrian Paul as Duncan MacLeod, then you do of Connor MacLeod
Rating: Summary: Better than the 2nd Highlander, but not as good as the 1st! Review: Chistopher Lambert is back once again as Connor MacLeod in the third installment of the Highlander series. Mario Van Peeples plays evil immortal Kane, who confronts MacLeod after 400 years of being buried in a cave. I've learned by watching these sequels that anything in the previous movie is forgotten, and a new storyline is made up, so one must look at the movie outside of the Highlander series. The special effects are pretty good, as well as the fight scenes between MacLeod and Kane. The video contains extra footage that wasn't in the theatrical release, including a hot sex scene that made it a R-rating.
Rating: Summary: Great movie Best sequel Review: This is a great movie and the best sequel to the original. It ignores the fact that Highlander 2 ever happened, and ignores the television series. We're here in 1994, were Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert) believes he's claimed the prize. He lost his wife Brenda in a automobile accident, and his adopted daughter Rachael. He's adopted a son. But he founds out that an old enemy who killed a master of Connor MacLeod in Japan, 400 years ago, is still alive. Connor journeys to New York City, the place of the gathering, in search of his enemy immortal, Kane (Mario Van Peebles). Confronted by the immortal, while a researcher(Deborah Unger) searching for Connor watches, Connor is saved when Kane realizes they are on holy ground. While Connor journeys back to Scotland, to train, Kane kidnaps Connor's son, and challenges him, in Jersey City. This fight will actually determine who wins the prize in this dimension of highlander which is ignoring the series and highlander 2. I recommend this movie and Highlander Endgame.
Rating: Summary: Christopher Lambert was AWESOME! Review: The overall acting was good by all, especially Lambert. The script failed to provide a connection to the original script, which I thought was a bit lame. It could have been so easy to provide a reasonable plot for another final confrontation, but the idiots that wrote the script must have had their head in thier rearend. After you get beyond that shortcoming, the movie is actually good. Christoper Lambert, as expected, made the picture. He's one of the best sword fighters in the film industry. He's good with a blade. I'll add this one to my collection. For me, it's a keeper.
Rating: Summary: Worst movie I've ever seen(including "Highlander 2") Review: In my review for "Highlander 2", I said that movie isn't as bad as this travesty. Many Highlander geeks who only see that this works better with the first will surely disagree, but I stand by my convictions. How can anyone make such a bad, hokey, and idiotic movie? No one, unless you were in charge of the scripts or direction, showing you have no business operating a Hollywood camera, never mind running a cult classic movie. Were to begin? I should start with the plot. What plot? There's basically a series of incoherent events(and one ludicrous sex scene)that pave the way for an inferior reenactment of the last ten or twenty minutes of the original. Besides that, only the first ten minutes are sufferable. After that, a chaotic, moronic, and illogical bunch of scenes with no purpose, save filling screen time is forced down our gullets to the point where simply sitting through it is a labor. The casting. Christopher Lambert is once again uninspired as Conner Mcloud. He just doesn't put that much work into acting. the actress(I don't know her name)is OK, if unremarkable. Her role of having sex with Mcloud and giving him advice gives her little to do. Mario Van Peebles is in a similar pickle in his role as a Kurrgan wannabe named Kane, having a decent work rate, but having pitiful material to work with. If there is something to credit it is the visuals. The cinematography is excellent, though it matters little; even Sean Connery would have done little to save this movie. The effects are also good, but I wasn't impressed by Kane being cut in half. I know that was just for effect, but I just found that tacky. so there we have it. The sad thing is, I didn't think a movie could be worse than my former least favorite flick, "Super Mario Bros.", though "Highlander 3" is even worse(but not by much). I want to give not even a single star damn star!
Rating: Summary: Best Sequel in the Series Review: Ever since the first time I saw this I've thought it's the best Highlander movie, perhaps better than the original. A villain can make a movie and Mario Van Peebles is superlatively nasty here. I've only seen this on VHS but I already own the first 2 Highlander movies on DVD and both of THOSE are excellent director's cuts. Exciting and worth owning.
Rating: Summary: Flogging a dead horse.... Review: They should have stopped after the original. The first in this series of three was superb. It had an original story and some great action sequences. Number two was a load of crap (no pun intended). The third wasn't much better. It seemed as though the people that made this flick were trying to rehash the great stuff from the first movie but were unsuccesful. Save your cash and time. This one's a dud. If you like the TV series give "Highlander: Endgame"a go.
