Summary: One of the major to-be classics brought to life!
Review: I truly believe that Harry Potter is a classic waiting to happen! Right up there with Lord of the Rings. The movie does follow the book pretty much, but that didn't matter, and it's long, but it doesn't seem much longer than an hour and a half. The movie was packed with action and moved the entire way until the end. A definate MUST-SEE!!

Summary: One of the best films of 2001.
Review: Harry Potter is one of the most hyped movies of the year and I am happy to inform all viewers that this is one heck of a movie and certainly lives up to expectations. The movie literally took my breath away with its brilliant design and set decoration, and I had to remind my heart to keep beating during the Quidditch match. Harry Potter is a movie so vibrant and brilliant to look at, that when you leave the cinema, you still have a dark, candle-lit Hogwarts flashing in front of you. This movie has heaps of heart and is a joy to watch. When the credits flashed I was pleading with the silver screen for the film to continue going! The acting in the movie is highly satisfactory. Daniel Radcliffe is a very believable and perfectly cast Harry Potter, while Emma Watson has some brilliant lines in a character so intelligent and intriguing she steals some of the scenes. More of those scenes are stolen by a gobsmacking Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, who is a great entertainer and a brilliant and un-shy performer in front of the screen. Adult actors Robbie Coltrane, Richard Harris, Ian Hart, Maggie Smith and especially Alan Rickman are all excellent and are setting themselves up for career-best moves with the Harry Potter saga. Chris Columbus have never directed better. With moving pictures, staircases, 3-headed dogs, and a brilliant and breathtaking castle, he has put it all together and has shined out the movie more than anybody else in the crew. But the person you have to give credit to is J.K. Rowling. This woman, once a poor and struggling woman writing Harry Potter books in a café, is now a billionaire and has some written some damn good material and deserves a big round of applause. She truly brings out the magic in the movie, and it is because of her ideas and sheer brilliance that we get the masterpiece of a result that Harry Potter is. Overall, this is a destined classic, and one of the few movies that had me in a toothy grin throughout.

Summary: The Hype Detracts An Entire Star
Review: I vowed not to watch or read anything to do with Harry Potter due to the fact that 6 year olds I knew were enthralled by it. HOWEVER, when my friends made me see the movie I was somewhat surprised by the plot. It is actually kind of neat. I was also taken aback by the werewolf bad guy in the forest (wasn't expecting that in a PG movie). I thought that the acting was above par but not great by any means. The presence of something juvenile-ish in the film annoyed me since the plot was "neat" and deserved to be presented to a more adult audience. This is also the reason I have stayed away from reading the book, the movie had a very Raold Dahl-ish feeling to it. I don't understand why the movie and book are such a big deal. There needed to be some more action or suspense in the movie. The only reason I can think of is because it is geared for 3rd graders. (Which is very unfortunate because they kick your seat, tell Harry Potter he can do it, and give away the entire plot in the middle of the movie.) Overall: I would definitely go see it but don't expect to be amazed, the hype takes away a whole star.

Summary: The Beginning of the Next Movie Classics
Review: This movie was amazing. I urge anyone that sees it to first read the book, seeing as how it could be a little confusing if you do not know all of the background. I was disappointed that some major events and details were left out of the movie, yet the movie was still wonderful. This movie is setting up the path for the rest of the Harry Potter movies coming.
This book wasn't the most exciting or interesting of the series so far, I'll admit this. Meaning that the movie wasn't as action packed as one might imagine. Yet, the movies and books get better with time and this movie is so incredible because it is the first. It is a classic. It is the beginning and the beginning must always be appreciated.

Summary: Not Good!
Review: The movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was horrible compared to the book. They destroy the images a child makes in his/her mind of the teachers and students of Hogwarts, the castle, and the landscape. It really bothered me that they put Harry's scar above his right eye rather than in the center like the books, and it DOES say in the book that his scar is in the center. Dudley is a little big for his age isn't he, plus his hair, its brown. Whats with that, its supposed to be blond isn't it?

Summary: One of the best movies ever!
Review: This was an amazing movie to watch. I was very worried that it would not be what I was expecting, but it was true enough to the book considering the length of the movie. I am a huge Harry Potter fan, and I am SIXTEEN YEARS OLD! The effects were great, and the cast was absolutly perfect. Truthfully, it was not as good a plot as the Lord of the Rings (I am also a huge fan of J.R.R. Tolkien), but Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was brilliant and fun to watch. Definetly not a waste of a few hours, it was very long, but well worth every second.

Summary: Potter: The new celebrity
Review: Harry Potter is an exceptional film that accurately represents the characters, scenary, and magic of the highly acclaimed New York Times Best Seller. After viewing this film, I was pleased to see Chris Columbus (Director) take into consideration the important details of the novel. Harry Potter IS what people say: AN AMAZING FILM!
