Rating: Summary: Test your might!!! MORTAL KOMBAT!! Review: Mortal Kombat, based on the video game is awsome. MK has an awsome case which includes Christoper Lambert (Beowulf) and the characters are awsome.Kano, Lu Kang, Kitana, Raiden, Scorpion, Sub Zero, Johnny Cage, Sonya, and Goro! awsome movie with some pretty awsome fight scenes. i only wish the final battle scene between Lu Kang and Shang Tsung was a bit longer and with a little more action, but other than that, great music and great action. and a great ending scene, but i don't want to ruin it. real quickly, the plot revolves around Shang Tsung trying to take over the world and inorder to do so, they have to win 10 Mortal Kombat's in a row, and to day, they had won 9. so it's up to Lu Kange, Johnny Cage, and Sonya to save the world. awsome movie and great special effects. Goro looks pretty cool. anyway, great movie with tons of action, excellect plot and great music. so if your ready, test your might with MORTAL KOMBAT!!!
Rating: Summary: It has begun Review: The great tournament held once a generation. I must have seen thist movie 100 times. It is my favourite movie. Great fight scenes, great story. It also has a good soundtrack. this movie is action [obveiously] adventure and also comedy [espeacially johny cage when he kicked goro off the mountain and said those were 5oo dolar sun glasses a##h###. It's too bad the sequel annihilation wasn't as good. If you have never seen this movie watch it. watch the first one first then check out annihilation it starts off were the first ended. But like me and most people you will agree that the first one is better.
Rating: Summary: Fun to watch to waste an hour and a half Review: "Mortal Kombat" like most video game-turned-movie is cheesy, has no big stars, and is very poorly written. But if you know anything about those kind of movies--you are pretty much expecting it. Mortal Kombat is a fun fast-paced hour and a half though. It may not be the number 1 movie on everyone's list and may be the worst movie on some movie critic's lists but if you are just looking for a time-waster that is fun at a lot of times, this is a good choice. "Mortal Kombat" is a tournament held every year where the best fighters go against eachother and battle to the death and at the end, the chosen one faces Shang Tsung. The movie starts off with a battle between Chan Kang (Liu Kang's brother) and the evil sourceror and udefeated champ of the Mortal Kombat tournament, Shang Tsung. Shang Tsung kills Chan quickly and Liu is immediatly called home. Once he reaches home, he joins the tournament to avenge his brother's murder. But he is not even close to ready. Along for the ride are Johnny Cage who is a martial-arts movie star who is being chewed out by the press who think he is fake. He joins the tournament to prove that he is real. Sonya Blade, what looks to be a SWAT team agent, accidently joins the tournament when she follows Kano on the boat (she is following him because he killed her partner). From there, the three meet up and are introduced to Rayden, the god of thunder and lightning who mentors them and teaches them about Mortal Kombat. Once they reach the island, the tournament begins. I won't give away what happens but I will say that there are a lot of memorable Mortal Kombat characters. Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Sonya, Kano, Shang Tsung, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Goro, Kitana, Reptile, and even a brief appearance of Jax. Like I said before, this movie is good if you are just looking for an hour and a half of cheesy, yet fun, violence and acting. "Mortal Kombat" runs for about 1 hour and a half. It is rated PG-13 for strong non-stop martial-arts violence throughout.
Rating: Summary: Mortal Kombat the Movie Review: MK the Movie wasn't bad but I wasn't impressed either. For a martial arts movie, it wasn't bad and for a Mortal Kombat movie, it wasn't great. The reason that really held this movie back was that it is PG-13 and the violence that is normally in Mortal Kombat the game, wasn't in Mortal Kombat the movie. There were a few things here and there but nothing that made you say "THIS IS MORTAL KOMBAT!" The story follows Mortal Kombat the game. The tournament to decide who will rule the human world and Out World. The Human World has lost the last Mortal Kombat and now Out World can win it all if the Human World loses again. It's up to Liu Kang, Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage to come through and of course a little help from the God of Lightning, Raiden, doesn't hurt. But they will be challenged by Out World's best including evil sorcerer Shang Tsung, Kano, the 3 ninjas Sub Zero, Scorpion and Reptile and the massive 4-armed Goro. First off, this one loses some points for a few reasons. Sub Zero and Scorpion have nothing to do with the Out World side. So why are they fighting on that side? Shouldn't they be fighting each other? A lot of computer animation was used for several things, the boar that takes them to where Mortal Kombat is being held, Shang Tsung's fatalities, Scorpion's spear and some other things here and there. My question is why is it that Goro wasn't computer animated? He was a puppet and it looked really bad. But the good thing about this one, a lot of good fight scenes (with the exception of Sonya vs Kano and Cage vs Goro). Best fight in this movie? It's a tie between Cage and Scorpion and Liu Kang and Sub Zero. Easily, both matches clean up as far as the best scenes. Now of course, this is a martial arts movie so you can bet that there are some corny things in it. Best example of that, all of Kitana's advice to Liu Kang. I'd say this is a renter first. It's great for kids but for any older viewers or older followers of the great game series, you might not be as impressed. I will say thought, if you were going to check out one of the Mortal Kombat's (MORTAL KOMBAT and MORTAL KOMBAT ANIHILATION), this one would be the more preferable one to watch.
Rating: Summary: Mortal Kombat Review: A group of mortal warriors have been chosen to compete in a tournament called MORTAL KOMBAT. If they lose, the realm of Outworld will be able to invade Earth. Okay, so there ain't much of a story here. But video game films don't need them. Definetly one of my favorite films. Christopher Lambert, Robin Shou, Bridgette Wilson, Talisa Soto, Linden Ashby, Keith Cooke, Chirs Cammassa, Trevor Goddard, Francois Petit and Cary Tagawa play their roles wonderfully. Here are the fights: Fight 1 Liu Kang vs. Poor Sap Nothing of real importance. No blood, no special powers and it's not really interesting or long. Fight 2 Sonya Blade vs. Kano The shortest match of the whole film. Not much, but the music is good. Fight 3 Johnny Cage vs. Scorpion One of the longest matches and definetly one of the best. Scorpion's always been one of my favorite characters. Fight 4 Liu Kang vs. Kitana Not really a fight, but it's okay. Fight 5 Liu Kang vs. Sub-Zero Great. Sub-Zero's well portrayed and the graphics are neat. Fight 6 Goro vs. Art Lean The only featured match where a bad guy wins. Okay. It's a funny match, fun music and it shows just how strong Goro really is. Fight 7 Johnny Cage vs. Goro The only match in the whole film that is a flawless victory. Cage whoops up on Goro while maintaining his comic edge (Those were 500 sunglasses, A**Hole!) Fight 8 Liu Kang vs. Reptile I'd hate to be Liu Kang in this fight. Reptile kicks his .... for the first part of the match, then Liu kicks major ..... Reptile is a great character. Fight 9 Liu Kang vs. Shang Tsung One of the longest battles(I think Cage vs. Scorpion's a bit longer.) It's pretty good. It's not as good as any of the battles involving the ninjas, but it's fun to watch. The true rating is 4 1/2. The problem is that there are few characters: Liu Kang Johnny Cage Sonya Blade Raiden Kitana Jax(Briefly. No fighting) Shang Tsung Kano Reptile Sub-Zero Scorpion Goro Also, the costumes are kind of cheap looking and there aren't enough fatalities and almost no blood. Besides that, this is an unmissable flick.
Rating: Summary: A good game that became a smash hit movie1 Review: As any Mortal Kombat fan should know that this movie rocks. It has great fight scenes, special effects, acting, diolouge and also some swearing. It is too bad that Rayden cannot enter the fight because of the writer.Whats up with that. They could of at least let jax have one fight scene. And I thought that Lui-Kang entered the tornement to represnt Kung Lau.But thats ok because the fight scenes are cool and so is the acting.Just to let you know that this is way better than part 2 of this. This movie has an unforgetful ending.Unlike the other.

You can watch the movie in both fullscreen ad widescreen formats, When you put the disc in your DVD player it goes right to the movie, none of the selecting "Play Movie" junk. DONT WORRY!! Rating: Summary: High-octane martial arts excitement... Review: This fast-paced and very fun video-game-turned-movie directed by Paul Anderson is an exciting film filled with neat-o martial arts and some cool special effects. Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, and Rayden get into combat with Scorpion, Sub Zero, Kano, Goro, and worst of all, Shang Tsung in a tournament that will determine the fate of humanity. Unlike the weak "Street Fighter" movie, this film brings all of the favorite characters from the video game to life with almost flawless accuracy, and with exciting action to boot! Instead of excessive cheesy humor, this film wants to be taken seriously, which is possible, if not hard to do. Probably the film's only flaw is that it's not too original, but it feels fresh, which is a big plus.
Rating: Summary: The best video game to movie translation Review: And that's not saying a lot. The plot is silly, the special effects are dated (though pretty good for the cusp of the digital era) and the fight scenes are a mixed bag (some are quite good (Johnny Cage and Scorpion), while others are laughable (Liu Kang and Shang Tsung's 'climactic' fight)). Still, it succeeds (and only just) as a result of the relative technical strength of the direction with generally well-framed shots and an above average understanding of light and shadow, the fact that it doesn't take itself seriously, knowing it isn't anything other than a [poor copy] of better martial arts movies (see 'Enter the Dragon' and most anything made in Hong Kong prior to 1990), and the comprehensibile (if stupid and light) plot. This is in sharp contrast to virtually any other video game movie which is normally painfully directed, takes itself as a 'serious' member of whatever genre, and has a plot that doesn't make sense without knowledge of the source material. Too bad Paul Anderson's script sense is that of a twelve year old boy, or else he might be recognized as someone whose directorial skills extend beyond turning sow's ears into calfskin, if not quite silk.
Rating: Summary: Mortal Kombat is the koolest movie!! Review: This movie is the best game-based movie that has EVER been created. The main reason is because this game has an amazing and in depth story!! This movie also a kick "butt" soundtrack, humour and amazing action scenes. The DVD allows you to explore each character and has a feature where you can see all those kick "butt" fight scenes!! I give this movie 10 stars!! I hope that "Mortal Kombat 3: Domination", the new movie, komes out soon!
