Rating: Summary: Soured action and trigger-happy special effects Review: When compared to the original, this sequel can barely hold its own. Whereas in the first film there was at least some implication of a certain plot and the villains amounted to something, MK:A is primarily concerned with getting as many characters into the limelight as quickly as possible. Some, like Smoke and Nightwolf, who could actually be the most unique aspects of the film, were handled so clumsily that the audience has barely a chance to realize what they are. To deal with that, the directors and the orchestrators actually had characters yell out their names whenever they entered a fight sequence - a bit like Power Rangers. In fact, the film's entire plot centers on the ventures of Tanya to different locales where she recruits other characters for a "final showdown". The "final showdown" itself was so completely pathetic and laughable, that I barely contained myself. Come on, the villains and the "heros" stand in rows and shower each other with ranged special attacks! Who do they think we are - morons! The side plot with Raiden's clash with the rest of the gods was equally pathetic - rather than giving the story an "epic" feel, it turned him into yet another badly done character.Where the first film had good special effects, this one has bad ones. Where the first film has a solid plot - this one has none. Where the first film has atmosphere - you guessed it. Steer clear.
Rating: Summary: This is the beggining of the end! Review: Hello Mk fans! Mortal Kombat Annihilation is the 1997 sequal to Mortal Kombat. I give it three stars because the fight scenes are great the characters are cool and the special effects are awesome. The story plot is good to, but every seven minutes there's another fight. Just because it was a Fighting Video Game doesn't mean the movie has to be wasted on just fights. The Cast change was terrible. Linden Ashby, Bridgette Wilson, and Christopher Lambert who played excellent roles in the first movie aren't even in the movie. Instead we get James Remar? He did ok but not half as good as Lambert. In for Wilson is Sandra Hess. Hess totally was stupid on screen. She soured up anything that was about to be funny. And she's a terrible actress. She made the character of Sonya Blade to look like a school teacher not an army Liutenant. A bunch of Characters are wasted to like Sub-Zero who could of had an excellent part but was cut out. To many things were cut out of the original screenplay which would have made the story better like the big ending with Quan Chi was cut out. Besides a few glitches Mortal Kombat is a pretty good movie. It would be worth the money to buy the DVD.
Rating: Summary: The actors can't....The special effects arn't. Review: Even by Computer-game-movie standards this is at the bottom of the barrel. It has the worst special effects ever. There not even special effects, there just effects. The end fight looks like the Japanese Godzilla movies. The acting is Pitiful. (James Ramar is the only one who makes it out without egg on his face) This film really feels like it doesn't even have a director, It is that bad. Trust me... Don't see it.
Rating: Summary: hello! Review: hello ý watched it film and ý liked this film is very good and wonderful please send a message to me about it film thanks now ÝBRAHÝM ARAR
Rating: Summary: Un-named characters, but great music and fight sequences. Review: MK 2 is a little better than the first Mortal Kombat, but only in terms of action. There is not 5 minutes when these guys start fighting again. This movie takes place seconds after the first one, which is not a good idea. Only two actors return (Soto and Shou) and all the others are replaced. Linden Ashby, the guy who played Johnny Cage, should have returned, even if Johnny Cage is in it for 2 minutes (You'll see what I mean). The music was fantastic, and the fight sequences are great. They could make a million of these movies!
Rating: Summary: One of the worst I've ever seen Review: I'll admit,I like the first one but this movie is a disgrace to others. BURN IT!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: ANNIHILATE THIS MOVIE!!!! Review: I know sequels are rarely as good(or better) than the original, but this sequel was a disgrace to movie-making! The plot is fairly unoriginal. The script is filled with crude language and lame jokes! And the special effects are horrible! So why am I giving this move 3 stars? 01: The music is from Megadeth, Rammstein, KMFDM, and other great artists. 02: The lovely ladies 03: The cool DVD extras
Rating: Summary: Despite what anyone else says I liked it Review: I thought it was very entertaining despite the other reviews. I thought it was true to the game and the story was pretty decent. This will sound lame but I liked some of the themes that kept going through the movie. And the choreography was very good I thought.
Rating: Summary: Great story and special affects Review: This movie is great because it follows the story from the video games exactly how it is. It has terrific special effects and the fighting skills used in the movie are superb.
Rating: Summary: Awful. Need I say more? Review: I am one of the people who enjoyed the first Mortal Kombat film. And I can truly say it's follow up was just plain crap. The plot is virtually non-existant. The actors (most of which have been changed) are terrible. The special effects really make this look like a straight-to-video release. The de-masking of Shao Kahn really makes him look pathetic. And this was clearly designed simply to get as many Mortal Kombat characters into a movie as possible - no-one was particularly bothered if it made any sense. Even addicts to the game will probably loathe this - there are no redeeming features.
