Summary: Decent movie deal on Power Rangers major movies
Review: The particular dvd showcases 2 Power Rangers movies. The first is the theatrical Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie, which was very decent despite some bad dialogue. I'm sure the original 3 Rangers who quit the tv show ("Jason", "Trini" and "Zach") kicked themselves when their replacements ("Rocky", "Iesha" and "Adam") were inclusive in this film, along with "Kimberly", "Tommy" and "Billy". This film is many steps up from the television format of the show and includes some great scenes, as well as updated buffed-up costumes, a refined look for the villains (and the addition of "Mordant"), and of course the hilarious Ivan Ooze. The zords/the final battle scene was probably one of the most exciting scenes in the film. Basically this film deals with Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd releasing Ivan Ooze from a hyperlock chamber, and he destroys the Power Rangers command center, blasting Zordon out of his time warp, leaving him for dead, and the Rangers lose their powers, zords, weapons, etc in the process. The Rangers are sent to another planet (Phaedos) to find a special power called Ninjetti (with the help of the planet warrior Dulcea). Eventually the Rangers find the power and return to earth, to discover Ivan Ooze has hypnotized the parents and used them to dig up his zords, the ectomorphicons, and gave them power to trash Angel Grove. The Power Rangers summon their new zords and battle the Scorpitron and Hornitor, and then the final battle with Ivan Ooze himself. The other film TURBO is one I haven't paid much attention to, as it returns to the original format of the tv show with a new villain, Divatox. The only thing that captures my attention about this film is the return of Austin St. John (aka "Jason", the original red ranger), who I got the pleasure to meet in late 1995, a really nice guy. Overall, if you're into the Power Rangers, this is an excellent buy as you receive 2 movies on one disc as well as a small handfull of features, nothing to write home about. Enjoy!

Summary: Pretty good deal...
Review: This DVD is your basic bare-bones release, with movie trailers and five-minute featurettes for each film. The nice part is you get both films for the usual price of a single-movie DVD. Each movie is on one side of the disc. I would have preferred having each movie on one disc to allow for some cover art, and so I wouldn't have to worry so much about damaging them. Still, it's nice enough for Fox and Saban to get these movies out on DVD finally. The A/V quality is excellent, especially on MMPR:TM, which is a pure eye-candy. As for the movies themselves:Mighty Morphin Power Rangers:The Movie: Large budget, epic feel, exotic locations(beautifully filmed in Australia). Quick pace with a lot of action. Did not fall in line with the show's continuity, which was confusing and/or displeasing for some hardcore fans. Hand-to-hand combat scenes were good, but too short. Movie could have been more interesting if not for the banal script and flat Ranger characterizations. Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie: Lower budget, probably due in part to the first movie suffering at the box office, more of a TV feel, and generally less exciting. Served as a bridge between the Power Rangers Zeo and Power Rangers Turbo series. Movie was overly-long and dragged too much in the first and middle acts. It was invigorated by appearances of former Rangers, Jason and Kimberly, and dragged down by the introduction of a tiresome younger Ranger, Justin. Slightly better in terms of plot consistency and showing Rangers' different personalities, but suffered from similar blandness of the first movie. If you or your kids like Power Rangers, this is a must-have DVD. While the TV incarnations are better-developed, the movies have a certain innocent charm to them.

Review: To whomever reads this the reason you are on this page is either you or a friend of yours abolutleyloved MMPR at one time and that being said, so did I. I was a huge fan of the series but as time drug on I grew out of it, but alas the first film is by far the best in the whole series, the film was actually a large scale film, it had special effects that were brand new in those days, an amazing story, and above all it was filmed in exotic locals, mainly set in Australia, but alas it was a great film, if they re-release the first film with more special features I would buy it. but as for Turbo: APRM It sucked and had a lower budget, not to mention they brought a kid in and made it ever worse with his acting. but by far the first film is the best and I still watch it on vhs. Even though this film is old, it does prove that the PR have a lasting power, and have for nearly a decade, last year (2003) marked their 10th year anniversary and with nearly 200 episodes it will still be on as long as the simpsons, wow!

Summary: Finally, The Power Rangers Arrive On DVD!!!
Review: Wow! The Power Rangers on DVD! Never before have the Power Rangers looked so good! I don't even know where to begin, but here goes! First, the contents of this dvd. Both Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie and Turbo A Power Rangers Movie are here. This disc is a dual-layer disc, with one movie per side. Each movie is in widescreen format (YEAH!), and each movie is accompanied by the theatrical trailer and featurette. It's not loaded with extras, but since you're getting two awesome movies on one disc for a fair price, it's hard to complain. As for the films, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie is the first theatrical production of the Power Rangers series. The Rangers in this movie are Tommy, Kimberly, Adam, Billy, Aisha and Rocky. MMPR The Movie is good fun, with cool action sequences and neat costumes. The only draw back to this film is that it strays from its Sentai roots by giving the Rangers vinyl outfits and replacing their Mega Zord with a poorly designed computer graphic one. Besides those minor discrepancies though, this movie is great for Power Rangers fans. Next, Turbo Power Rangers, is my personal favorite of the two. The Rangers in this film are Tommy, Kat, Adam, Tanya, and Justin (who replaces Rocky). However, the highlight of this movie is the return of the ORIGINAL POWER RANGERS, Jason and Kimberly, although they don't suit up as Rangers. Thankfully, this movie does not stray far from its Sentai roots, as the Rangers faithfully maintain the costumes and Zords of their Japanese counter-parts, and all other elements you've come to expect from a Power Rangers spectacle are there. All in all, this dvd is great bang for your buck and awesome entertainment for those who enjoy light-fare, Sentai, sci-fi action. I highly recommend it for the kid in the family or the kid in you. It'll surely put a smile on your face : )
