Summary: Dinosaurs Galore
Review: Recently I was able to catch Spielberg's The Lost World. I say Spielberg because other than the title it bears no resemblance to the book. This is not necessarily a bad thing. While a lousy interpretation of the book it is still a good film.Jeff Goldblum is hired (by a man who is dead in the book) to study the ecosystems on InGen's Site B where dinosaurs have been flourishing. Only the fact that his girlfriend is in danger gets Goldblum to go. No sooner does he arrive and try and convince her to leave than a massive InGen expedition shows up to hunt and capture dinosaurs. InGen's plans for capturing dinosaurs goes awry when Goldblum and friends release the dinosaurs during a satellite-linked board meeting. InGen plans to open a dinosaur park facility at the San Diego zoo. During the chaos every radio in the camp manages to get trampled. The survivors must now find a way off of the island. Unfortunately most of them are killed in a brief attack by velociraptors while in tall grass. The few survivors of the second expedition manage to capture a T-Rex and ready it for shipping to the states. Goldblum and friends escape by helicopter. In San Diego the T-Rex manages to escape and go rampaging through the city. Goldblum must lure the T-Rex back onto the freighter that brought it to the States. In the end a huge navy escort follows the freighter back to the island while Mr. Hammond implores to public to leave the dinosaurs alone; they deserve it. Some people definitely had fun making this movie. There were scenes from classic and not-so-classic movies including King Kong, Godzilla, Carnosaur 3 (CARNOSAUR was the book Crichton got the idea for JURASSIC PARK from) and others. Two scenes I particularly enjoyed were a crowd of screaming Japanese looking over their shoulders while running in terror and a little boy who wakes his parents to tell them that there is a dinosaur in the back yard. It was reported that a paleontologist made sure that the dinosaurs acted as current scientific beliefs say they should. Hah! The Stegosaurs were the size of apatosaurs. Something, possibly the escaped triceratops, managed to knock a hummer airborne so that ir reached an altitude of at least a hundred feet and an amazing distance. Velociraptors can now leap three stories up and forty yards out. The tyrannosaur can run right through building walls without slowing down. Fun? Yes. Realistic? No way. Needless to say if the dinosaurs acted this way in the first movie then no one would have escaped. Still, it was a very fun film that I recommend to any dinosaur lover who can stand to see people pulled apart by huge carnivores sharing a tidbit. The Lost World (the third film by that name) should be available on video and day now.

Summary: Steven Plays Around A Bit...
Review: Actually, LWJP is just Steven Spielberg having some fun. It's an obvious tribute to movies like King Kong, Godzilla, and even the original 1925 version of The Lost World. It's a non-stop SFX extravaganza that is more dessert than a nourishing meal. Jeff Goldblum returns as Ian Malcolm. He is not bad in his role, though he does wear thin. Julianne Moore is beautiful as always, and pulls off her "concerned scientist" part with ease. The T-rex is back, with his mate and offspring. The Raptors terrorize, managing to kill off many slimy hunters and Ingen drones. Not a bad sequel, considering that most sequels are pure rubbish anyway. I enjoyed the T-rex running rampant in LA. I only wish it had had more time to cause hysteria and chaos! A nice binge-eating trip down Hollywood Blvd would've been cool! Oh well. Watch with brain on pause...

Summary: Far Inferior Sequel
Review: Dr. Malcolm is surprised to learn that there is another island full of dinosaurs. He's even more surprised when he learns that his girlfriend has gone to the island to study the dinosaurs in their natural environment. Convinced she's in danger, he sets out to rescue her.
Meanwhile, another group arrives on the island, intent on capturing the creatures for a theme park in San Diego. When the two groups meet, ciaos ensues, and suddenly it's a fight for survival against these ancient beasts. Who will get off the island this time?
To my surprise, I enjoyed the first movie and looked forward to this one. I made the mistake of reading the book first, however. While the first one was a decent adaptation of the book, this movie tried too much to do it's own thing. And the story suffers as a result. Don't get me wrong; there are some great action scenes. The trailer sequence is especially a favorite. But most of the time, it doesn't hold up to the book or the first movie. And don't even get me started on the ending.
The first movie will be considered a classic monster film. This movie left much to be desired. Just another example of how bad sequels can be.

Summary: The best Jurassic Park movie in the series
Review: The Lost World was really good, JP 1 was almost as good, and JP 3 was okay. I don't have The Lost World yet, but I rent it all the time. The reason why I like this one the best is because of the T-Rex roaming the streets of San Diego.

Review: I don't believe what I'm hearing from the other reviews. One question, are you saying that A ship that big can't hold five tons of animal? Must be a pretty weak ship.
Anyway, JP2 is as good if not better than the original JP. It has some incredible scares, such as when the compy's head poppes out through the bushes. Using the same if not better state-of-the-art computer effects that made the first one a huge success, JP2 is an incredible story of survival, and a lesson is to be learned about greed.
JP2 has some differences in the dinosaurs though. The raptors have evolved from a dull brown into a freekish red with yellowish stripes. T-rex is more bluish grey now than brown. But even the texters of the skin have more depth than in the original.
JP2 is a must-see must-own movie, and it doesn't get enough credit. It's story line is involved, and it's one of those movies you have to see several times in order to fully grasp its power. Spielberg has done it again!

Summary: AN AMUSING SEQUEL
Review: "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" isn't as creative or as good as the first movie, but still has enough good things to make it an entertaining sequel. The visual effects are very impressive, most of the creatures seem genuine dinosaurs, and the CGI T-Rex is improved this time, it has more movements and seems more realistic.
There are a lot of exciting scenes, with great stunts and thrilling action, but there are a couple of weaknesses: the cast and the director seemed to go on automatic pilot, the performances are not as solid as in the first movie. The second weakness is the script, it recycles most of the strongest points of the original movie, so the movie starts to loose some steam when it becomes more repetitive.
So the question is: "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" is a bad movie? Not at all. It's a very decent sequel that provides entertainment and a good share of thrills, it could have been better, but it's a good movie. This is the kind of entertainment that only Hollywood can do.

Review: VHS begins with a "Mercedes-Benz car commercial.
Four years have gone by since the first Jurassic Park (1993) film. Can they out-do themselves with this second film? Well, they bring back jeff Goldblum, Joseph Mazzello, Ariana Richards and Richard Attenborough and then they add Julianne Moore, Vince Vaughn and Pete Postlethwaite.
More suspenful and terrifying than the first film.
The next film and the last : Jurassic Park III (2001).

Summary: If you liked the first one....
Review: This sequal to Jurassic Park, based on another of Michael Crichton's books, is fun and engaging, but unfortunately is nowhere near as good as its predecessor. There are a lot of dinosaurs, but story seems to take second place to special effects. Interesting details include a comic parody of Bob Bakker, but all too often it feels like it's being played for laughs. Recommended to fans of the series, but the original and part 3 are much better.

Summary: Something Has Survived
Review: This film, directed by Steven Spielberg, picks up four years after the events of "Jurassic Park". On a nearby island, dinosaurs have survived and have been allowed to roam free until an unsuspecting British couple and their young daughter stumble across the island. Meanwhile, InGen director John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) has summoned Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) to lead an expedition to the island. But, Hammond's nephew Peter Ludlow (Arliss Howard), along with the help of big game hunter Roland Tembo (Pete Postlehwaite) are on an expedition of their own to the island to capture and bring the dinosaurs to the mainland as part of an amusement park attraction in San Diego.
Unknown to Ian, Hammond has solicited the help of Ian's girlfriend, Dr. Sarah Harding (Julianne Moore) to be part of the expedition. Ian, along with the help of videographer Nick (Vince Vaughn) and gadget guy Eddie (Richard Schiff) set off somewhat against their will to link up with Sarah. Sarah has a theory that dinosaur species, especially the T-Rex, display parental instincts much the same as people and other mammals, and she is determined to prove her theory correct no matter what the cost.
Soon, both groups are on the island. Peter's group is busy trying to capture the dinosaurs for their exhibit, while Sarah, Ian, Eddie, and Nick continue to study the dinosaurs themselves. Soon, the T-Rex's nest is found, along with a baby, but the baby is suffering from a broken leg. Sarah scoops the baby up and is determined to fix the leg, but the baby's cries alert the parents, and soon the mother and father T-Rex are bearing down on the group. Trapped inside their command post RV, the adult T-Rexs begin banging themselves into the RV until it is dangling precariously over a cliff with Ian, Sarah, and Vince clinging to a rope overhanging the cliff. In the best scene of the movie, the RV and trailer fall over the cliff, with Ian, Sarah, and Vince passing straight through as the RV falls.
They are rescued by Roland and his group, and now the two groups must survive together.
I thought this was a very exciting and well-made movie. Steven Spielberg chose an excellent cast of actors, and the special effects, especially the dinosaurs and the scene with the RV dangling from the cliff, along with the dinosaur-laden ship slamming into the pier in San Diego combine to make this a truly edge-of-your-seat movie that will keep you glued to the screen. I highly recommend this movie. The action is non stop, and the effects will blow you away.

Review: i like this series alot its very good i think its alot better then the first longer and it reminds me of god zilla especially at the end when the big t-rex came and you see all the ppl running and ASIANS anyways once again they go to the island isla sorna i think i get confused somtimes but they study the animals again this is a big thriller very good movie but not the best because i see alot better movies but its still very good to watch oh and i know that the forth i think will be out next year oh i cant wait for that one.
