Rating: Summary: Forget Connery and Van Peebles, They Say This Is Last One! Review: Didn't they say that the Final Dimension was the last one? Well, anyways, this one was good, even though it was nothing relating to the original ones. Adrian something stars as the "brother" of Lambert, the immortal who travels across time, and together they join forces to battle the evil Kell (Bruce something). There were some scenes that were not added from the theaterical trailer but this one was a good one, but there might be another one supposidly.
Rating: Summary: Hopefully not the Final Chapter! Review: As a big fan of both the Highlander Movies and TV series I anxiously awaited this film. Many reviewers who were not familiar to the Highlander franchise gave this filmpoor-lukewarm reviews. I however loved it,Highlander has something for everyone, action, comedy ,romance ,history. If you're unfamiliar rent the 1st 3 films, catch a couple episodes of the series on the Sci-FiChannel,then sit back and enjoy this ride.
Rating: Summary: highlander: endgame, a home run but no grand slam Review: highlander fans the world over will be happy to see how well the original movie and the tv characters and plots are melded. they will, however, most likely be screaming with indignation at the poor editing, i mean the hacking job, that was done when the movie was forced to the screen too soon. they waited 2 years for the movie's release; i'm sure they would have waited a little longer for a product with better editing. i heard non-highlander fans leaving theaters making a variety of comments from: it was grand to what did it all mean anyhow. better editing would definitely have helped.personally, i cannot wait for the dvd version which is said to include a more fully integrated editing job as well as background information which should flesh out the movie. some say it will provide interviews and other stories surrounding the making of endgame. maybe, just maybe, it will include the 2 minute kata adrian paul is said to have designed and performed specially for the movie....
Rating: Summary: it was good, but . . . Review: I am a big highlander fan. I saw the first movies and loved them all except the second one which, I believe, had nothing to do with the rest except the imortality, but other than that it suck. Anyway, I walked into the theater expecting to have fun and learn more about different characters. I had watched the trailer before hand and was disapointed when they left some of the elements from the trailer out. Like the splitting inhalf part was cool, but not in the movie. It also had way too many flash backs. You could have learned the some of the same stuff taking out a couple of them. Some of the flash backs were important like the scene where Conner and Duncan are training and the scene with the shop exploding. Also the scene with Edge was quite enterainig. Over all I really enjoyed the movie.
Rating: Summary: Perfect Merger Review: AWESOME! The merger of the Movies/Series was handled exceptionally well, although I felt Methos and Dawson were underused. I guess working in two Highlander's was difficult enough. I also felt like I was left hanging with some of the minor villains because they crammed a lot into a short time. Their character development would have been much better over several episodes with The Series,.however the trade off for the big screen was well worth it. Endgame expects the viewer to already have a working knowledge of the characters and does not spend a lot of time explaining the "Immortals" or the "Watchers" (introduced in Season 2 of the Series). Newcomers will have a hard time following without first renting at least Highlander 1 (Skip "The Quickening". It's a mistake ignored by all other Highlander scripts) as well as watching any reruns of The Series one can find, especially Seasons 2 & 3. This is a must see for Highlander fans. Without spoiling it. this was not at all what I expected to happen. Now I'm ready for the next movie; After I go see this one again!
Rating: Summary: NOTHING LASTS FOREVER Review: I would have to say I have been a fan of Highlander ever since my dad took me to see the original film in 1986 when I was 9yrs old. I was so enthraled by the concept of being immortal, but finding that one true love (Heather) that you would spend the rest of your days with regardless of whether or not they age even if you don't. I saw the second and third films and did not see that passion for love and life as they became too 'hollywoodized'. I then saw the series and saw hope as once in a while the spark of the original film's passion would appear, but this fourth theatrical installment found 100% of the originals roots. I was impressed with the transition of television casts into film and the melding of the two Highlanders (Adrian Pual and Christopher Lambert). Even though the film ignored the originals ending, it proved that there is still magic in storytelling, and despite poor box office results, the producers have regained the loyalty of this, and other fans who saw the true spirit of the films and tv series. The only problem I have is the missing plot elements from the trailer, mainly Kell"s wizardry. Maybe we can hope there is a director's cut. All in all a perfect ending to a powerfull story with powerful characters who will live forever in our hearts and minds. Fans and newbies alike need only remember one word of wisdom to take with them and that is "It's A kind of magic " and you will understand my point.
Rating: Summary: **THIS MOVIE ROCKS** Review: Okay, where should I start? Well, before the movie was even released, I had read many bad reviews for this movie from numerous amounts of critics. My hopes for this movie was not very good. I did not even want to bother to go see this movie, but thanks to a good friend, i did. The only reason why I strolled in this movie was to see Donnie Yen (Jinn), in his first American movie debut. I had really low expectations for the movie and did not really care to even pay attention to the plot nor the acting. But after seeing this movie, I would like to ask a lot of the critics out there: "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? " This movie was way high beyond my expectations. First, I didn't expect the fight scenes to be that good. Second, I didn't expect the movie to be this emotional. And third, I didn't expect the movie to be soo stylish. And fourth, i didn't expect the movie to have such a beautiful musical score. I mean, it wasn't a perfect movie. The fight scenes were not nearly close to "jackie chan" or "jet li" movies, the story line wasn't all that good, but wasn't bad at all, the acting wasn't top notch, but it wasn't too bad either. The dialogue was somewhat stylish and meaninful in many ways, but also fails in some ways (for example: Kell's lines are long and savvy.....SHUT UP AND FIGHT ALREADY! ) I find Christopher Lambert very well convincing in the movie playing Connor Macleod and Adrian Paul suprisingly good as Duncan Macleod. The funny thing is, I had never seen any of the other Highlander movies nor the TV shows before I saw this movie but, i caught on and understood the movie just fine. I went back to watch a little bit of the other Higlander movies after watching this and found out that this movie is totally different from any of the other Highlander films in the past. It resembles a little from the first movie, but it still has its major distinctions. I would have to say that Highlander Endgame ranks up there with the first Highlander movie and is TOTALLY better than the second and third movie. I would also have to say that this new Highlander movie has, by far, the best original score than any of the other Highlander movies. I would recommend the score highly to any Highlander fans out there. Overall, i would have to say, watch this movie like you didn't expect a lot out of it. Because if you're expectations are too high, then you will definately be dissappointed. Also in my opinion, you don't have to know a lot about the other Highlander movies or the TV show to understand this one....my friends and I caught on right away. Just ask some people who know a little bit about the movie some questions like "What is the Quickening", "Who are the Highlanders", "and how do you kill an immortal", and you should understand the whole philosophy behind the Highlander movie. I have to say that this movie was a perfect way to end a series and the scene between Duncan Versus Connor is probably the most emotional and heart renching scene that is worth an adult admission ticket at the movies itself. Even the people who hate this movie will have to admit that this scene was awesome. It left me breathless. So don't ditch this movie just because some critics say that its bad. To tell you the truth, ALL of the Highlander movies got more bad reviews than good. So go see this movie....I will definately buy the score and the movie on DVD once it is released.
Rating: Summary: A candle for Connor MaCloud Review: Hello Highlander friends and fans ... here is a tragedy ! I understand that the sequel must stop someday ... even for Adrian Paul ... but why must they kill Connor Mcloud [CM] like this? I became a big fan of Highlander [HL] but only the movies. I did not see the TV series because, for me, there can be only one ! and that is CM and not Duncan ! I rather not have a sequel ! The movie started well. Good historical flashbacks, the return of the gorgeous Heather, the mythical charm of Scotland. The fighting scenes were good and innovative. I am utterly disappointed with the plot. I, despite being a hindu, went to the chruch the next day after watching the endgame, and lighted a candle for Connor Macloud. How could he ever die when all the good highlander fans fondly remember his introduction in all his movies..."I am Connor Mcloud of the Clan Macloud ... I was born 500 years ago and I CANNOT DIE ! " I quickly watched the first Highlander movie to console myself that CM is alive and strong...and here in the endgame...he loses and dies...he surrenders...he gives up...he lost the passion for mankind... why kill that passionate character like this? Furthermore, they made him look weak, lost, confused and a pity little thing that he is not...in any of the earlier movies. Christopher Lambert should not have taken this role here. He broke the rules on holy ground, he admitted defeat, he was tired. I believe that CM fought not for the PRIZE but rather to keep it away from the evil guys. He was the chosen one [in HL2]....and now, he was like the unwanted one. Please bring back Connor FOR THE MOVIES FANS. Keep the TV series in the TV. If you ever watch the first HL, you will know and feel the tragedy of putting that famous hero to death. It is not just the death...but the manner in which his character was portrayed. This is not CM and will never be.I rather they introduce Adrian Paul as the new chosen one after Connor returns to Zeist after claiming the prize and dying a mortal's death. Heather was the best HL heroine, Kurgan was the best Villain, Sean Connery was the best buddy and Connor will be the best Highlander.I could never see another HL movies without Connor...for me there can be only one..and now...there is none..the game was over when connor died ! To all true Connor McLoud fans...please light a candle for our Darling Immortal. They have murdered the most famous movie Immortal in more ways than one with this movie!
Rating: Summary: CONNOR MACLEOD! Review: I give this five stars for a few reasons, one, Christopher Lambert is extrememly good here, and two, Christopher Lambert is extremely good here. The movie Endgame completely ignores Highlander2 and 3, and if its set now (?) it ignore the series too. the BIG problem is it ignores the first movie too. Shouldn't have gone there. I mean it doesnt even try a lame excuse like: The gathering was a get together. The Connor in this movie everyone is saying is different from the real Connor. Um, no. Connor has always been sad, depressed, seclusive, and not very outgoing. We see his adventurous spirit in the movie's flashbacks, and for those of us who DO know Connor's character it makes sense hed blow up into a dark wise man instead of a good wise man like Ramirez from H1. Christopher Lambert mustve looked at the script and seen how his character was dealing and said to himself: 'okay, im going to make this real real great,' cause he did. In the theatrical version, he steals the show. He really does, even though its an adrian paul movie. By itself, this movie rocks. with everything else highlander: there better be a directors cut
Rating: Summary: A perfect end to the Highlander saga Review: Now, I've read all the negative reviews and such, and I must say that if you are just looking for a good movie where you don't have to think much just enjoy or are looking forward to a good end to the Highlander Series, then this is a terrific movie. I am a fan of the first and third movies and the series, and as all Highlander fans know there are 3 seperate Highlander universes; Movie universe, Series universe, and Highlander 2 universe. The latter is total crap, but in the movie universe Connor MacLeod is the One, end of story. This latest installment takes place in the Series universe, of which Duncan is main man. Not only do the fight scenes kick a## but the story is interesting and the acting by Lambert and Paul is superb. They work so well together and really bring the relationship between the two MacLeods to life. Especially when the two Highlanders must come to there last resort against Jacob Kell. The movie universe ended years ago with Connor MacLeod winning the Prize. However, the series universe has continued and now is at its end, and it is a great ending for the series continuity. True, non-fans will be lost, but why would they wanna see it anyway? Forget all the stuff about it not being coherent or plot-less, bottom line is that its an entertaining movie and as perfect an ending to the series as I could think of. A great flick.
