Rating: Summary: A Horrible Highlander Review: Immortals Connor and Duncan Macleoad must join forces against Kell, an evil immortal who has become too strong for anyone to face alone.
Rating: Summary: Endgame brings meaning to the series Review: This movie definately ties the FIRST movie and the entire TV series together. The writers did a very good job of "re-writing" the movies to make the TV series make more sense. You just have to see it to know. If you are a fan of the TV series, this movie makes it all come together. If you are expecting it to be more of what the original Highlander was, you'll be disappointed. In my opinion, a cult classic was made from a movie that had a definate ending. The second movie came, then the series, then the third movie. They had two different tangants that had to come together, and Endgame brings it all together. GOOD JOB!
Rating: Summary: Thank goodness for DVD! Review: I'm a longtime fan of both the original Highlander movie and the television series. When I saw this film in the theater, I thought to myself: "Not bad, but it could be better." The action was great, as was the thrill of seeing Adrian as Duncan MacLeod on the big screen, but overall I felt that the movie lacked many of the story elements and character development that made the series so great. Well, about a month after I saw theatrical version of Endgame, I viewed the rough cut 'Workprint' version of the film (which will be included on this DVD set in one way or another). Let me say, this Director's Cut is just what the doctor ordered! A lot of the footage that was removed or altered for the theatrical release is in this restructured version of the film. I feel that had this version been sent to theaters, the critics may have been a little kinder (probably not) and many more new fans would have been brought into the Highlander universe. If you're a fan who was somewhat disappointed in the theatrical release of Endgame, or even if you thought it was great to begin with, you can't go wrong with this DVD set!
Rating: Summary: NOT the director's cut Review: I give the movie 5 stars only because, hey, i liked it in theatres. And while this version may be better, i've gotten confirmation it is NOT the director's cut. It's cut by the producers. The director's cut won't be out till later in the year.
Rating: Summary: Director's Cut Review: If you saw this movie in the thearether and didnt like it, dont worry i didnt like it either but, the director cut make it good....it re-edits the movie and it makes it fun and entertaing the new ending is much better than the theatrical one. and it promise to have a lot of extras since is a 2 disk set.
Rating: Summary: Highlander: Endgame Review: I saw the movie several times in the theater and enjoyed it more each time I saw it. I am an avid fan of both the movies and the TV series and my only disappointment was that the movie was too short. The director has said the DVD will contain more scenes and additional 'making of' material. I am looking forward to buying the either the DVD (with the Director's Cut) or VHS version.
Rating: Summary: Not what one may expect Review: It was a sad thing to see that all the expectation of this movie was left in the promises that they decided to cut. They tried to tie in the first and third installment in this series only barely being able to do so. If you are a die hard HTS watcher this is a must. If you are only a fan of the movies, you may be left with a bad taste in your mouth.
Rating: Summary: Endgame - I hope not! Review: One word sums up this movie - Spectacular! Highlander Endgame was the most compelling story in the Highlander saga. It had an adventurous story, exceptional acting, and an awesome musical score. Every thing about this movie was Highlander at its best! In 1555, Connor MacLeod returned home and killed the local priest for killing his mother. The Priest's sun, also Connor's former friend, Jacob Kell vows revenge. In 1625, Connor discovers another immortal Highlander named Duncan MacLeod and takes him under his wing. In 1712, Duncan married immortal Kate Delany, but the marriage comes crashing down. In 1992, Kell continues his vengence when he kills Connor's dear friend Rachel Ellenstein. Connor then retreats to the Sanctuary, a place where immortals can be permanantly removed from the Game. In 2002, Kell destroys the sanctuary, but allows Connor to get away. Meanwhile, Duncan goes in search of his good friend and learns of the legacy of Kell's vengence. He also learns that his bitter wife Kate has joined up with Kell. The 2 highlanders come to the conclusion that Kell can only be beat by the power of both of them. But only one can challenge him. In order to defeat the ultimate evil, one of them must make the ultimate sacrifice. As of yet, I have only seen the theatrical release of this movie, which ran for about 80 minutes. I can't wait for the DVD release, which will run for about 95 minutes. This extra footage will do a lot for character development, which the film was lacking. Not to mention, the alternate ending. Your Highlander collection will never be complete without this DVD. Trust me, you don't want to miss this!
Rating: Summary: There can be only two? Review: It's the merging of the television series and the movie series into one action packed flick. Adrian Paul plays the TV the immortal Highlander Duncan MacLeod, born in 1592 in the highlands of Scotland. His clansman and mentor, Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert) of the movie series is facing his greatest challenge. An evil immortal name Jacob Kell (Bruce Payne, who played such memorable villans in Passerger 57 and recently in Dungeons and Dragons) is bent on revenge against Connor for past transgressions and his form of revenge is to kill everything Connor holds dear. Duncan comes into help his clansmen, but discovers that with Kell is someone that brings Duncan back to the worst point of his past. Spectacular fight scenes between Adrian Paul and Kung-Fu master Donnie Yen, as well as the thrilling climatic final scenes make this a worthy sequel to the original Highlander movie. It will also satisfy the hardcore tv series faithful. In addition, the DVD promises to deliver bonus footage that was cut from the eventual theatrical release. Good flick!
Rating: Summary: Dimension Films butchered the theatrical release... Review: ...in order to make it fit into an 84 minute time frame. This DVD release will reportedly restore a lot of the missing sequences. Since I enjoyed the theatrical release, flaws and all, I anticipate that this edition will be even better. The music was magnificent, Adrian Paul was a classic hero reminiscent of a younger Sean Connery, with the martial arts/swordplay skills to back it up. Lambert turned in a heartwrenching performance. I was a fan of the HIGHLANDER TV series and found this to be a great tribute to the characters and the HIGHLANDER saga overall. A must-see.
