Summary: Another disapointing continuation...
Review: First off, I'm a big Highlander fan. I've always loved the first movie..thought two was cheezy and should be destroyed, rather liked 3 even though it seems alot of others didn't. I even tend to like the series (though I will admit I think Duncan is a pansy). I was rather disappointed with this last movie though. I had hoped for a little more from Connor, and while some people said there were to many flashbacks, personally I thought they were the best things about this movie. The whole point was that you fight to the prize, the last two fight..then there's only one. Ok, Connor did that....TWICE. Now suddenly there's a whole new generation of immortals, and Connor's still around. Personally I think that if they wanted to continue, they should have left Connor out of it and instead of killing him, turned him into some kind of a legend that no one knows what happened to him. Just that once he lived and won. Don't get me wrong, I love Conner..but he deserved much better than just to die. The plot was terrible, but the fight scenes were rather good. I would have liked to see more Methos, but you can't have everything you want.

Normally I wouldn't buy a movie quite this bad. But I did buy it, for the same reason I bought a copy of Star Trek Generations...one should always have the ending of a legend...

There can be only one....

Summary: Endgame - Endmovie
Review: Although I am a big fan of the Highlander series, this movie was aweful. There was no character development. Characters die and you could care less. I think they needed to do ALOT of rewriting - didn't - and rushed this to the screen. It was a waste of money and was a huge disappointment - I was waiting a long time for this movie to come out. I think they owed it to their fans to have created a better movie than this.

Summary: A fitting end to an immortal series......
Review: This is an excellent movie. If you are a Highlander fan, of the television series or the movie series, this is a MUST own. It's been a long time since I watched either and it really didn't matter. I thought you might have to be up to date with the t.v show or the movies, but you don't. This movie has a very good story, along with an excellent cast. The bond that they show between the Connor (lambert) and Duncan (paul) is fantastic. This movie does explain somethings that were i believe, left untouched in the series. The build up towards the final battle is awesome. Good special effects + good story + good actors + highlander movie= Four Stars. Not to mention that this DVD is a 2 DISC pack that is packed with an exclusive cut which has 11 minutes of extra footage!

Summary: Endgame Redemption!!
Review: I saw the movie 13 times in theaters. I'm aware of what is in the workprint versions floating around and read the leaked script online. I've now gone to the store and rented the vhs version. When I saw 87 minutes on the box, I was a little worried, thinking it was going to be exactly what I saw in the theater.

BUT it wasn't! It was so much better! This NEW and improved version has better continuity throughout and they pretty much closed all the holes in the original screen version of the story. I might have some preference to the slight differences in order or cut of some of the scenes (loft fight, love scene) in this release but I think that might be only because I saw the original so many times in the theater.

You can't get any better story than the story between Duncan and Connor. It was done to perfection. Christopher Lambert is at his best in this one. He knows Connor and conveys his disposition so well. Adrian Paul delivers drama and comedy and has all the skill, command and screen presence to bring every scene to life. The martial arts/sword choreograhy was intense and thrilling and Donnie Yen and Adrian Paul's talent in this area is apparent.

More weight was given to Kell's character in this release which was badly lacking in the theater version. We are shown more about Kell and Kate's relationship (deliciously evil, awesome scene). Duncan and Kate's story is a tender and bittersweet mystery, driving the tensions of the movie. There is an important alternate scene in this release. It is much more fitting in a movie like this with so much death. Yes, immortality with all it's rules in this realm is about death and dying but it doesn't always have to be so. It is also about surviving. This film continues as the series did to explore the depths of such a premise and characters forced into the Game and what it means to them to be immortal. It is not just an action, sword and sorcery movie!

AND the huge, glaring JVC sign is GONE from most of the rooftop scene! Thanks I needed that! Actually, there are a few cosmetic improvements in this version of the movie. The re-edited special effects, other added effects and the occasional different camera angle, were welcome additions.

Okay, now we can start begging for the director's cut and hope the begging works. I want to see more of director Doug Aarniokoski's work. (every scrap and shred of Highlander Endgame film!!)

Fittingly, redemption is a good theme for this movie. The theatrical version of the story needed to be redeemed and the fan's faith in the franchise sorely needed to be restored. Hopefully this is a start. I hope there is a Highlander 5 in the works continuing Duncan MacLeod's story. I can't see anyone else in this role but Adrian Paul.

For fans, this improved Highlander Endgame is a must see and newcomers will enjoy it as well. The producers and writers did an overall excellent job of bending artistic and dramatic license to bring the movies and the television series together. If you are not to strictly obsessed with the other Highlander movies and can let go your imagination a little, you will really enjoy this one.

Summary: Davis-Panzer -- You DID it! A Highlander-Endgame overview
Review: Finished watching the DVD at 1:30 am 2/20/01EST. I almost didn't blink throughout the movie -- the pacing was great, the transitions logical, the continuity much better.

This was more the movie we were all hoping for -- Yes, even in my sleep-deprived state, there were things to nit-pick (some parts too long, some parts too short -- for me -- not necessarily other folks!!).

After seeing this version, one wonders what was the rush by Miramax to get the movie into the theaters -- to put an inferior (and badly reviewed product) out there defeats everyone's purpose. This movie would have made you a lot more money!

Anyway, in toto, this was terrific!

So, to paraphrase Professor Higgins in My Fair Lady:

"Today, old boys, you DID it, you DID it, YOU DID IT! I didn't think you could, but indeed you did!!!"

Congrats!!!!!!

Summary: Worst film in the series.
Review: I loved the first and third movie but this one has no spirit at all. This is just one long episode of the TV series (same actors, bad script, ...). Christophe Lamber appears in some few key scenes so the studio can pretend it was a film for movie theaters. If you're not a big fan of the TV series, don't waist your money.

Summary: A Good Movie but a Disappointment
Review: I was expecting this movie to be better. I thought that because both of the Highlanders were in it they would find a better way to have taken the evil immortal Jacob Kell. This can assure that this is the final chapter of the series and there will not be any more Highlander movies. I did not expect to see Duncan to do almost all of the fighting and Connor to do only one fight with which he almost got killed. In this movie there was too many flashbacks which took much of this short film. (1 hour 25 minutes). Duncan is not seen for about the first 15 or 20 minutes. Joe was only shown for a short seen of about 5 minutes. I was glad they put Methos in this movie for a good part. I could understand why they would not put Amanda in this movie for she had nothing to do with it. Richie, having the fact that he is dead,(died in the last episode of season 5 of the series) was not put in it either, although I wish somehow they got him in it. The fight seen between Duncan and all of the immortals working for Kell, I thought was awesome. I did like watching the flashbacks with both Duncan and Connor in it. The way I thought the movie was going to be, from looking at the coming attractions, is that Connor would have somehow split Jacob Kell into two personalities. Both would be evil. Then they would both fight the two at the same time and kill them at the same time and have a fight seen and Quickening like in Revelation 6:8. That episode is about the Four Horsemen. At the end Duncan fought the leader of the Horsemen, Kronos and killed him while Methos, who was part of the Horsemen, did the same with Silas(Caspian had already been killed by Duncan). Unfortunately I was wrong and it happened differently.
