Rating: Summary: Speilberg did his best to make "Jurassic Park" successful. Review: I was 13 years old when I first watched Jurassic Park back in 1993. When I was much younger in the mid to late 80's, I was a dinosaur fanatic. I will admit on grand opening day, I felt a little anger because I just got the feeling Speilberg was meaning to commercialize dinosaurs. If you remember Land Before Time, Speilberg was also involved in that in 1988. Land Before Time was a commercial success. After the film, everyone in the theater stood up and applauded. It was absolutely incredible and something I never experienced in a theater before, and never imagined because it was on film and the actors don't see who is watching them. Speilberg did his best to follow as closely to the book as possible, as well clean it up a bit so the whole family could enjoy it. I mean Speilberg is a director of family films. It is his trademark and style. You have to admit the novel was pretty bloody. West World sounds interesting to see. From what I read, it is like any other writer or director. Chrichton has a style and trademark that he has perfected. I believe it is important for all artists to have their own style and originality. It makes them unique and special. Jurassic Park presented a moral view-point, while it may seem obvious that dinosaurs and man don't mix. It presented the issue that we must be careful and responsible when we tamper with creation. The characters were strong. You had a wise-cracking, smart alec, moral chaotician, an isolated child-hating paleontologist, a passionate, observant paleobotomist, a self-absorb lawyer, a greedy, overly opened-minded, dreamer John Hammond, and two adventures, star-strucked children. The movie had the qualities of a classic film; drama, horror, comedy, adventure, and action. Jurassic Park will also be remembered as the film that pioneered the age of computer technology for movies. Cheers! Rebbecca McGarity
Rating: Summary: Hasn't this been done before?? Review: Jurassic Park is at best just another 'monster'movie, this format is getting very tired. Ya is has excelent graphics and a John Williams sound track, what it doesn't have is any soul to it,the old "King Kong" movie for all is primitve effects out shines JP,it my friends has a story to tell and it tells it with heart.
Rating: Summary: Great film! Review: Extremly entertaining film with great actors and spectacular effects. A lot of action and adventure for any film lover. The music is also great and lifts the atmosphere. The dino's looks so real you almost start wondering if they're really faked. A must see!
Rating: Summary: Another ILM Speilberg Classic Review: Well I'm a big fan of Speilberg, well to be honest I'm a fan of all movies. I remember seeing Jurassic Park for the first time in 1994 on video. Other than Jaws it was one of my first films I saw in Widescreen. It was great. It gave the film more depth with the ILM world Speilberg created. This film is great with effects. Nothing tops it, but the story line is shabby. I think Speilberg should stick to low-budget sci-fi films such as Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind. Very cheap film and very good as well. Seems to me the better the effects are in most films the worst and shallow the story is. It proves to be true most of the time. NOT ALL of the time. Jurrasic Park was still a good film. Not great, not bad,but okay.
Rating: Summary: Well, its better than the sequel, anyway. Review: So the character development could've been a bit better. That doesn't make the movie much less enjoyable to my way of thinking,at least not with all those sweet-ass CG dinos thumping and scampering about to maul their hapless victims. The Lex and Tim vs the Raptors in the kitchen scene was the highlight of the flick, and I notice something different almost every time I watch it. We all loved dinosaurs as kids, and I'm only thirteen so I suppose that qualifies me for still lovin em,and I feel that Spielberg really surpassed my personal expectations in the dino-dept. I don't know who that chick toward the end of the reviews on this page is,but, woman,it's just a damn movie! Buy this,if you've seen it. If you haven't it's certainly worth a second look.If you buy it,GET THE WIDESCREEEN VERSION.I purchased the pan and scan format when it first hit the shelves six years ago(dear lord, has it really been THAT long?) and have since then seen the widescreen one.I loathe the day I bought the full-screen.You guys' rating system goes to five, mine to four, but I'm going by your standards. Anyway,it's all good and it's all in fun,so get in the pit and grab this one!
Rating: Summary: The greatest film ever made Review: I'm from Argentina and I love this movie. I saw it over 40 times and I still shake whenever the T-Rex attacks the cars. This video is a must-have, baby!
Rating: Summary: AWSOME MOVIE! Review: This is one of the best movies I have ever seen(this and Star Wars) The special effects, and the music, the movie is just FANTASTIC!!!!
Rating: Summary: Mind Candy... Review: Read the book! It is so much better
Rating: Summary: Cruel and inhumane Review: We need to keep our dinosaur population alive to preserve the delicate balance of our eco-system. Spielberg rampaged through an island of endangered animals only to satisfy the unfortunate bloodlust of our male-dominated society. This is entertainment? People, this is MURDER. Once these velociraptors are gone, they won't be back. I urge all of you to write your congress(wo)men at once.
Rating: Summary: I'm 13 I 1st saw this movie in 2nd grade and I still love it Review: I Just turned thirteen, I saw Jurassic Park in 2nd grade and in 3rd I read the book, Both were great and I still love the movie till today (I'll probably read the book again) I liked having them different so I didn't know what would happen. I might add I did not get scared in either. I've seen the movie about 32 times (mostly in 2nd and 3rd grade when I was a fanatic) and I learn something new every time. I believe they had the perfect amount of good acting, emotion, characters, science, thought, and action, not too much or too little (I think It would be interesting to read the book if it was by Arthur C. Clarke). I agree with Ian Malcolm 100%, he's my favorite character, although having dinosaurs in a park would be nice (The Lost World ruined his character it's like he were 2 different people. Whoever said it was bad should try WATCHING it, it helps. Contact was good too, if you liked this you'll probably like it too.
