Rating: Summary: Another Voice In Defense Of This Cult Moovy.... Review: ....I can't help it. I like the unusual and the tongue-in-cheek. "Cecil B. Demented" and the Austin Powers moovys are right up my alley. Star Wars is alright, but the future according to Mad Max rings truer to me. This is like Mad Maxine, but with lots of blue lip gloss and girl power attituding. See, that's OK, cuz not evvy babyfemale digs Britney or Buffy style girl power attituding. It's something different for the babyfemales. A visual popcorn moovy with loads o' fun, loads of certified cartoonish-ment. And pretty darn entertaining. To see Ice-T as a kanga-mutant is a treat (I keep imagining him doing "Cop Killer" in that get up). If there's a sequel and Petty duddn't want the role, I can see Pink or Stefani filling the bill perfectly. What the babyfemales will dig...how every scene Tank comes out wearing something different or having her ska punk hair just a little different.
Rating: Summary: corny very corny but lots of fun Review: ok so this has to be the dumbest movie i ever saw in my life but its also fun. i hate lori pettys voice. its retchid. she sounds like shes only 13 but shes over 30. just watch this for the cool soundtrack and fun moments. oh this does have a plot again referring to the stupidity.
Rating: Summary: Another Tankie Fan Review: Ok well I know this one isn't for everyone and yes it is dumb but I really loved this movie. I own it on DVD and VHS. Young girls will love it, although it is rated R. I think it can be shown to 12 or 13 year olds. Great for their self-esteem. Tank Girl rocks! Hurray!
Rating: Summary: Poor DVD features, decent story Review: .... As for the movie, it's fun, she's a cool frisky chic, she looks like Gwen Stefani with a tank. The comic was better, but the movie was funny, albeit very similiar to being a Girl Mad Max. Malcom McDowell, Ice-T, and Lori Petty are in it. Two stars for the movie, could be higher if the DVD had more on it.
Rating: Summary: Sorta Role Model.... Review: P-p-p-POW! Lori Petty is such a talented actress, as is Naomi Watts. For people who dislike it so very much and don't appreciate the visuals-- it's based on a comic book, you idiot! It is highly imaginative, humorous and entertaining. That's kinda the point here, eh? No brain surgery. Besides-- we girls need more films like this one where the women kick the crap out of the stupid, evil men who are trying to destroy everything in order to make money and show how "manly" they are. No more stupid puffalls guys-- deal with it!
Rating: Summary: Possibly one of the top ten stupitest movies Review: Really bad movie thats all I have to say. It did not make any sense. If you think that this is a classic you have to have a poor intelligence.
Rating: Summary: Definitive Cult Film of the 1990's Review: This is a killer flick! How do I describe it? The Adventures of Xena Across the Eighth Dimension? Gwen Stefani Beyond Tuhnderdome? "Dune" goes cyber-ska? This film is a sci-fi-post-apocalypse-post-holocaust-feminist-action-adventure-coming-of-age-comedy, so naturally it was destined to cult-hood! Good! It belongs on the list of great cult films! What makes this film so great? It is off-beatness. Great casting. Killer sets and special effects. Lucas said that behind every sci-fi story is a human story. Tank Girl, part of the folk on the fringes of a post-apocalyptic society, is motivated by the murder of her lover by the Water and Power Corp, sort of a 1984-Brazilesque mega-conglomerate that controls electricity and water processing. Imagine Hitler running your local utilities. Isn't that Mr. C. Montgomery Burns? Another aspect is the opposing tension between Tank Girl and Kesslee, which reminds us of Clarice Starling and Hannibal Lecter from "Silence of the Lambs": male-female, old-young, strong-weak, rich-poor, experienced-naive, sociopath-sane, boring-fun. And behind it is a subtle sexual tension-though, gladly it is never realized. To their credit, they adapted the underground comic correctly to the screen, and you even see quick animated excerpts from the comic as links between the scenes. The Mask, Mystery Men, and The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles helped pave the way for this, and of course the godfathers of all comic-to-movie metamorphoses are Batman and Superman. You could tell they cast was having fun with their weird script, and that energy shows through. A great lighthearted film that has something for everyone!
Rating: Summary: Late to the Party Review: This is a top-grade B movie. I never got around to seeing it until recently when it aired on Comedy Central. With the combination of the silly post-apocalyptic plot, funny mutant characters, and ULTRA SEXY Lori Petty, I had to own it. Bonus: Look for Naomi Watts, who plays an innocent young actress in David Lynch's "Mullholland Drive" in theatres now.
Rating: Summary: AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL Review: This is one nasty mess of a movie. There is no actress as annoying or as untalented as Lori Petty. Malcolm McDowell, get a new agent. Fast!!.
Rating: Summary: Not for everyone, but loads of fun Review: This is a movie you either like or don't. I find it fast-moving, colorful, loads of fun, and entertainingly bizzare. It's not something to think about too much, and it drags toward the end, but it is a cult favorite for a reason. Great soundtrack, too.
