Summary: Really Great! A Few pet peeves!!!
Review: The 'threat' of mutated humans pushs a group of anti-mutant activists to extremes to eliminate the 'threat' to humanity. Striker, an emotionally scarred and disturbed ex-military man kidnaps Professor X, and some of the mutant kids from his school to use in a nefarious plot to- you guessed it- kill more mutants. Can The X-Men, and their enemies lead by Magneto, save him and restore order?

Have you ever watched a film that just really 'worked' for you? X-Men 2 was like that for me. The funny thing, is I've never really cared for Marvel comics BEFORE the movies came out. Now, I find myself gloriously following ever movie.Only a few things got my goat.

1. Pyro character. Could someone please have the kid put the lighter away? Surely professor X and the other teachers would do something about this habit. Not only is it dangerous, its downright irritating.

2. Wolverine. Does he honestly have no better way of dealing with his enemies than stabbing them? I'm not an anti-violence monger, but I felt it unnecessary to show him murdering dozens of people, when he could have easily incapacitated them in another way. Also the way he killed Striker was unnecessary and unheroic. Especially in front of a small child.

3. Jean Grey/Scott/Wolverine. My favorite part of this story. Loved the love triangle. But, I felt parts were edited out. I would've liked to understand Cyclops relationship with Jean and why she felt the need to cheat on him explored a bit more. As it was portrayed, it was a tad simplistic. What bugs me about this, is its okay to show superheroes murdering people- but when it comes to romance, they decide to dumb the characters down completely. Bleh. The loser in this is Scott, who is my favorite character- Cyclops.

Overall, great film. Better than the first. Well worth the rental/purchase price.

Summary: Better than the first!!
Review: If that's even possible. I loved the first one, and I was absolutely in love with this one even more! Wolverine and Nightcrawler are probably my favorite characters, both in the movie, and in the comics. So the fact that this one had Nightcrawler made me extremely happy. The story in this one is even better, the action is more intense and exciting, and the effects are brilliant! Nightcrawler's ability looks absolutely real, you actually believe that he's teleporting, and it looks awesome. Great great movie. The only sore spot, if any, is Halle Berry.....I've never liked her, but luckily she's not in this one much, and I've heard rumours that she's not in the next one at all. Fine by me!

Summary: We love what you've done with your hair.
Review: This film is a fine sequel, and lays obvious foundations for future X-men films. Wolverine is back at the epicenter of what has become nearly all-out war between mutants and normals, a struggle that sorely tests the resolve of the titular heroes to remain conciliatory towards humanity. Much of the tension in the film comes in odd and almost touching places.. while there are many of the requisite fights and displays of super powers (all of which are handled expertly), the real traction comes from the interplay between the characters. From one brother calling the cops on his mutant sibling to the devout prayers of a mutant with more than a passing resemblance to a devil, to the interaction of a father with his mutant son, the real interplay of mutants with humanity is addressed with determination.

The plot itself is on par with the earlier film and is just plausible enough to hold interest, although it does slip a bit too easily into the 'entire world at stake' mode that eventually doomed other series such as Superman. Nonetheless those that enjoyed the first film will relish the expansion of familiar characters as well as the addition of new ones. I think the best compliment that can be paid to these films so far is that not only are they good superhero films, they are good films period.

Summary: Simmsation says big ups to X2
Review: This is clearly the best comic book book movie of all time (well I have to put it up there with Spiderman because that was also a classic) and the way the director introduced nightcrawler was truly astonishing. I can't wait for the next X and the introduction of phoenix. Thank you for the X series because the Matrix 2 and 3 was a total disappoinment. Everyone pick up this dvd its the best buy by far.

Summary: Best Adaptation From the Pages of Comic Books
Review: After futile attempts such as Spawn and Batman and Robin years back, I felt comic book movies shouldn't even bother. They have appeared on the big screen with little or no success. The idea of an X-Men appearance would have been ruinous. However, such grave thinking is history. After the blockbuster entry of Spider-Man and the first X-Men film, comic books voyaging onto the theaters are no longer a laughing matter. X2 is a true achievement which implies that in the long run, comic book films are here to stay.

Let me get this out of the way and say it, X2 is the best comic book adaptation. Unlike several movies that fit in the Sci-Fi category, such as the Matrix, X2 can stand on its two feet without bombarding the audience with an excess of computer animation or action sequences that easily become monotonous or tiring. Right at the beginning, we are introduced to a mysterious character, Nightcrawler, and the action isn't dreadfully lengthy nor does it impede the plotline. Its to the point and it enhances the story in everyway. Some bullet time is thrown in but its done tactfully. Since the first X-Men movie explained the essence of the characters, X2 makes for a smoother and gratifying movie.

What makes the movie so great, despite the considerable cast, are the characters themselves. The focal plotline gets the job done in the Hollywood aspect, but the characters brought to life from the pages of the comic books is an utter spectacle. We don't think the mutants are totally fictitious as a parent might from glimpsing at a comic book cover. The execution, human performance, and the action drive the story without slowing down. From Rouge's inability to make the affectionate moves on Iceman, to Wolverine's shady past, the movie has so much story clocked in so little time. Although, knowing a little history behind the X-Men can really suspend you in anticipation with the hints of Jean Grey altering into the Phoenix. Surely, this paves the way for a rewarding setup in the next installment. Comic book enthusiasts should be proud, and those unfamiliar to the X-Men universe really get an abundance of something refreshingly new.

I'm sick of the comic, novel, and videogame zealots wailing that the original medium had this and that, and the film itself failed to explain this or showcase that. I once fit those nonsensical shoes, as I age I begin to understand. What I have learned from the Lord of the Kings and other comic book adaptations, is that their original mediums can't possibly be covered in a two-hour movie. To extract every detail form the pages of the Uncanny X-Men is unworkable, if not ludicrous. Besides, who really desires to see a movie if they know how its going to end? Do you really want to see how character X transforms into what he is, when you know all the details already? Adaptations to films, in my view, are about seeing the characters in action and being defined by real, human performance.

As a DVD, X2 is bundled with a ton of extras, but the movie itself warrants a recommended purchase alone. One of the best movies of this year, X2 heightens the wait for other comic book tie-ins such as Spider-Man's sequel, the upcoming Batman, and the Fantastic Four. There is a new genre in movies and this time it ain't no joke.

Summary: This is a Great Movie, Even Better then the First
Review: This really is an incredible film. The action is well shot and used liberally to great effect, the characters are well developed, and the plot reaches a climax, which lasts for about an hour. The first time I saw this I was on the edge of my seat in the theater, no joke.

Summary: I've Waited 18 Years For This!!!
Review: After reading X-Men comics as a kid, playing the video games as an adolescent, and watching the cartoon as a teenager, I finally get what I've been waiting for. WOLVERINE STABS PEOPLE WITH HIS CLAWS!!!! Ummm, oh, yeah the cameos by Jubilee, Colossus, and Kitty are kinda cool too.

Summary: Fun to watch, good action
Review: I never got into comic books, well except for a brief period when I was about 11, and so I really had no expectations when the first X-Men came out, other than I was hoping to see a good fast action flick. I liked the first movie, but I think this one did it one better.

The action and fight scenes were good, the story flowed well and the interaction between all the players was pretty good, considering there were so many different characters, this was no easy feat. I won't rehash the story or plot, I just wanted to add my two cents that for those that don't follow comic book super hero's, but like bigger than life sci-fi fantasy type action movies, this one's a winner.
