Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great, but unbelievable, story
Review: One of the most compelling treatments of the Arthurian legend, Excalibur traces the classic tale through the birth and rise of Arthur, creation of the Round Table, the fall from grace, and final redemption of the Holy Grail and battle with Mordred.

Boorman spared little effort to create a visually rich tapestry, but this was the film's undoing; example, as they at dinner around the Round Table in full armor, the knights look more like a 12-pack of Coors Silver Bullets that brave knights.

Still, the film uses symbolism powerfully and effectivly, such as the land being reborn as Arthur rides past.

Great performances by Patrick Steward, Nicol Williamson, and Helen Mirren as Morgana.

If you love the Arthurian legend, you'll love Excalibur.

Summary: The Arthurian Classic of All time!
Review: Sure the costumes may not have been completely authentic and the story wanders a bit but this is THE ONE to watch. All the classic story lines entertwined with a theme make this movie great. From Merlin to Mordred all your favorite characters come to life in a well written and superbly acted epic of more than lifesize proportions. The tale holds true to the Arthurian legend we have all come to know and love...Enjoy!

Summary: great music, fantastic film
Review: Great film with great music. The music is Carmina Burana from Carl Orff, classical german composer of the beginning of the century.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent entertainment - not for the whole family
Review: Not your typical fantasy epic that glosses over the grime, lust, greed of the Dark Ages. This movie lets it all out. Robert Taylor in Knights of the Round Table is a good light version of the Arthurian Legend. Some have requested info about the music...Carmina Burana composed by Carl Orf and Wagner's Rings of the Niebulung (sp) are well used in the movie. You will not be disappointed with these sound tracks.

Summary: Awesome movie to watch
Review: After seeing this Dark Age epic you won't look at the King Arthur legend the same way again.

Summary: The best fantasy/mythic movie ever (yet).
Review: I firmly believe that "Excalibur" is the finest fantasy/mythic movie ever. The classic tales are told from a darker more adult perspective (similiar to Malory's intent) and love, lust, honor, magic, duty and good and evil all clash in a classic story of lost hope/values and eventual redemption in the eternal struggle of good v.s. evil.

The portrayal of Merlin is fantastic.

Summary: Excalibur....What an excellant account of Artur's life!
Review: I feel that this is one of the best of the accountings of the Arthurian legends out on the market today! Great job of casting and in Acting, excellant all round movie! Now I Have seen a copy of the (nr) or non-rated version of this movie some time ago and can't seem to find a copy of it any where, any suggestions?

Summary: THE BEST!
Review: I've been reading and watching Arthurian legend stories since I was a child, and Excalibur is the best film I have ever seen. Nicol Williamson is an actor Par excellance and he just steals every scene. The story was not overly sentimental, as it should be, the images were thought-provoking and the scenery inspiring. It contained all the popular elements of the Arthur story and left me feeling "yes, it could have really been that way". I feel sorry for people who can't appreciate fantasy, they just don't know what they're missing. I rate this film 10 out 10.
