Loaded with nonstop action and thrilling fun, Angelina Jolie plays the very sexy Lara Croft, a british chick with an attitude. She uncovers the secret of an ancient legend hidden in a mysterious clock. Now it's a race against time as she must go against fellow archaeologists to find an all-powerful triangle. Great special effects, great direction from Simon West, and some high-flyin' explosive action mixed with the seductiveness of Jolie make this film an adventure-fans weapon of choice.

Rating: Summary: Indiana Jones, eat your heart out Review: This is just a fun, action-packed, exceedingly cool movie. To be honest, the Tomb Raiders games always proved frustrating and disappointing to me, but this movie wildly exceeded my expectations, thanks in no small part to Angelina Jolie's wonderful performance. She truly becomes Lara Croft. While it may be true that her pistols aren't necessarily her most impressive possessions, she is nonetheless a superhero that no male superhero with any sense would want to contend with. Beautiful, extremely intelligent, her skills acquired by hard work and passionate commitment as opposed to a spider bite or extraterrestrial origin, she is a woman to be much admired.I know the plot is a little fantastic, but who cares? This is an action film, not a documentary, and this plot is bursting to the seams with action. I for one always love a good Illuminati plot, although those with less knowledge about such conspiracy theories may find the story a little less satisfying. The opening scene featuring Lara's thrilling battle with a massive steel robot is incredible, and it is just a harbinger of things to come. The home invasion sequence is another amazing cinematic experience, made wholly unique by the acrobatic tactics of the heroine. It is the tomb raiding scenes that make the movie complete, however. Lara's exploits demand the most amazing, exotic, and mysterious of settings, and the Cambodian tomb replete with huge stone gods that awaken to guard their treasure is vintage Tomb Raider material. The scenery is incredible, and the special effects are top-notch. The finale in the Siberian wastes stretches credulity somewhat, yet its larger-than-life mechanical structure and unusual method of killing less skilled adventurers is more than satisfying. The movie does break down a little bit at the end, even becoming a little sappy, but I am sure that the intent was to show that Lara Croft is human after all. Of course, all sappiness quickly dies away when Lara gets finally gets to take on her nemesis in a physical battle, and I as a man in no way object to see a tough, noble woman take a worthless man behind the woodshed. It is easy to compare this film with the Indiana Jones series, but I don't think Indiana Jones himself would want to mess with the indomitable Lara Croft. She proves that you don't need a whip to deliver a whipping. Finally, the DVD is loaded with all kinds of extra features-interviews; behind the scenes looks at Jolie's training regimen for the role, special effects, and stunts; a feature allowing you to actually play a virtual game as you watch the movie; four deleted scenes (including a beheading, which is always fun to see); a game demo; a running commentary by director Simon West; along with a few other treats. Basically, don't buy this movie if you want your movies to be grounded in humdrum reality and steeped in dramatic and emotional interactions between deep, self-obsessed characters. If you want to simply escape the world for a couple of hours watching a gorgeous woman travel to beautifully exotic locales to save the world from a wildly incredible threat using her wit and abundant natural skills (plus a little helping of high-tech gadgetry from time to time), this is your movie.
Rating: Summary: No "Gone With The Wind", but hey, I don't like that movie! Review: Lots of action? Check. Lots of fun? Check. Deep romantic entanglements and thought-provoking ideas that make you wonder "What really is my purpose in life? Am I everything I should be?" Um, no. Thank goodness. Lara Croft does pretty much what she does in the videogames, she goes on a QUEST to find a THING that has great POWER or VALUE. It works in the games and has worked in the movies for about 80 years now, so does it break new ground? Nope. It's basically "Indiana Jones 4" with Angelina Jolie as Indy. And that's perfectly fine with me...
Rating: Summary: Just play the game, it has a better story Review: Sexy, trigger-happy archaeologist Lara Croft (Angelina Jolie) who likes to excavate tombs in a dare-devil fashion sets on a quest to recover ancient artefacts that have the ability to control time. This is somehow linked to the end of the world...or something. Big, dumb, Indiana Jones wannabe adventure parade (based on the video game) tries to blend confusing and tedious plot with flamboyant action yet typically fails miserably. Silly and no fun at all.
Rating: Summary: Lara Croft Let Down..... Review: I am a big fan of 'heroine' action movies, and so I was glad to watch this one. Angela Jolie, stars as the pouty-lipped, heroine "Lara Croft." This is the story of Lara's discovery of a mysterious clock, hidden in the immense Croft mansion. The clock holds the key to a mystical device which is coveted by an evil cult (aren't they all?) Can Croft prevent the key from falling into the wrong hands? Angela Jolie does her best to breath life into the buxom action heroine, but it was a difficult task. The movie (loosely based upon the videogame) has a meandering action plot, (which seemed to be designed to show Jolie's figure to its best advantage) and an immense special effects budget which might feed a small third world country. While not utterly terrible, in a world of 'video-game' knockoff movies such as 'mortal Kombat' , I can't honestly say that Tomb Raider had much to recommend it unless you are missing your dose of eyecandy for the week. Good for a laugh, but nothing to take to seriously. Next...!!!
Rating: Summary: Laura Croft Tomb Raider Review: So good to see a female superhero. We haven't had a realy good one since Ms Weaver in the Alien series. Great to see Laura kick butt, but really what's with the costumes? Something for the boys?
Rating: Summary: This is a good film. I know I'm gonna love this. Review: I like this film because of the action scenes. I've seen this movie in the theatre while I was in Utah. I'm going to have this along with Final Fantasy The Spirits within. What inspired me to see this? I was inspired to see this by the movies of Indiana Jones to see this. It's a great action movie that I've seen. I highly recommend this to future fans.
Rating: Summary: Why so many bad reviews??? Review: I am really tired of people putting this movie down. When I read the negative reviews it's obvious to me most of these people have never even seen the movie because they have no clue as to what they are talking about. First of all, this is the only movie that is completely faithful to the video game. No, Lara isn't running through tombs throughout the entire thing flipping switches but that would be boring. Lara does go in a tomb though and solves puzzles which is what the game is about. The game is also about this strong, independent woman out to save the world. Which is what this movie faithfully brings to the screen. So what if Lara isn't wearing a green shirt and brown shorts??? She's wearing all black in the new Tomb Raider game. Give me a break! And Angelina Jolie is the perfect Lara Croft. Even the game's real life models don't look as much like Lara as Angelina does. And her acting in this movie is wonderful. She brings to the film a sense of power and control that not even the game has. When you see Angelina playing Lara you know she is always in complete control of the situation. The storyline is great. It takes Lara all over the world in great locations and the whole thing is about solving one big puzzle which is what the game is about. What more do you want people??? Tomb Raider is the perfect video game movie!
