Summary: What is the point of a Demo DVD?!?!
Review: Please...explain WHY! The movie was mediocre, and that is being kind. So then why purchase something for "sound quality"? I have been subjected to "demos" by my friends. Fine, that's nice, DVD looks and sounds pretty. You don't have to sell me on it. Or is this a pissing contest - Look how great my things are. You must be jealous. I buy movies to watch movies...to enjoy movies...to appreciate movies. I do not buy movies that I know are bad movies just to show them off, to either my acquaintences or myself, or to prove that I have an entertainment system that meets expectations. I have a wonderful system. It is what I expected. I am also secure in my own being. I do not need to make others jealous, or use modern technology as a flimsy pretext to do so. I suggest that anyone looking to purchase a demo DVD ask themselves WHY s/he NEEDS a demo DVD.As for the movie: the plot was thin, the acting ham-handed, the effects convincing. Overall, it was diverting. I did not buy this DVD. I rented it. If you haven't seen this movie, then rent it. It is not worth $20. It is not worth the price of an adult admission to a movie theater. It is worth about $5. And please, do yourself and your so-called friends a favor, and think twice before acquiring this as a demo DVD for your library, which if you have multiple demo DVD's, is probably uselessly large anyway.

Summary: Not bad at all...
Review: This is a pretty good movie considering it's genre. I remember when it first came out, I had such grave doubts about it thinking it would be just another comic book bomb put out to make money, like Spawn or Captain America. X-Men turned out to be one of my favorite movies of 2000. I absolutely loved how Singer made the characters actually "human" (well, not quite human) and not into monsters or something. It was also a very good idea to show WHY Magneto hated the human race due to his horrific childhood during World War II. You actually understood what the antagonist was going through and didn't hate his guts just because he was labeled as "the bad guy." As for the rest of the cast, they did pretty stellar jobs for basic no-names. And I think it's safe for America to say that Hugh Jackman has a bright future in Hollywood. As for the DVD, it's just okay. Personally, I think the best feature is the Spiderman outtake. It's hidden. Just go to the trailers & TV spots section and press the left arrow button on your remote to highlight a rose. Just press ENTER and prepare for some giggles.

Review: I love that scene! This movie is awesome, one of my favorites. I find it kind of amusing that I, a 16 year old female, love a movie geared toward 14 year old males. I can't help it! I love this film! The second time I saw it, I noticed the cameos, Jubilee, Shadowcat, I think his name was Pyro..., Iceman; I noticed that they had kind of stuck Jean Grey with Beast's personality; I noticed goofs, in-jokes, stuff like that. I have always loved the X-Men. This movie is awesome! I reccomend it for anyone who is a child at heart. "Hey, Logan... Stay away from my girl."

Review: Full of great special effects, and just plain fun, this is a great movie to have for a night at home with friends. See how many of the X-Men you can spot, and count the number of X's as they go by. See if you can catch a glimpse of Stan Lee, the original creator of the X-Men.

Review: This movie just isn't about good vs. evil. It is also about people or "mutants." The plot works on many levels. Also very suprising to me it was actually pretty funny. However you have to be an X-men fan to get some of the jokes.{I.E - Yellow Spandex)

Review: Plotless flick made only to promote thousands of various merchandise items, especially the non-action figures. Probably the first movie that genuinely *is* merchandise itself... Will obviously be loved by two-digit-IQ people, who consider comic books high art and must syllabize their captions aloud in order to comprehend them. No wonder it gets so many positive reviews (though I doubt if most of their authors actually know the definition of the word).

Summary: Comic fans rally around this film
Review: If you grew up reading the X-Men, then I really think you will enjoy this movie. If you never even knew that there was a X-Men comic book, you will really enjoy this movie. Going in, I was worried about how this flick was going to be handled. There have been so many stories surrounding these characters. THey have died too many times to count, been to other planets, dimensions, even times in history. Yet, there is a tremendous amount about some of them that had never been addressed. Naturally there are plenty of pieces that any quasi-fan could point out. Toad and Mystique's fighting ability, Wolverine/Logan's lack of that berserk edge and a couple of changes to Rouge's character all depart from the long history in the books, yet I find all of this acceptable. Remember X-Fans, to make this flick, it had to be understandable to all, to have a mass appeal to justify more X-Movies. I feel numerous little 'inside' jokes are there for us. I was the only one in the theatre to get the "yellow spandex" joke. But it was there for X-Fans. If you have never heard of the X-Men, sit back and enjoy a movie that goes deeper than superheroes vs supervillans. It addresses many social issues in a understated manner. Great flick.

Summary: Not a bad adaptation...
Review: I was a big fan of the animated series, but never read the comics. All of the characters translated well to the screen, thanks to an excellent job of casting. The only character that fell flat (IMO) was "Rogue", I couldn't even figure out who she was until about 30 minutes into the movie. The only major complaint I had was that they should have worn thier usual costumes, the black leather left this movie with too much of a "Batman" vibe. I would give this movie 3-1/2 stars, but the system limits me to 3. A decent and entertaining little action movie.

Review: If you like the comic book X-men then you will love this movie. I'm from Sweden and it's not very easy for me to get my hands on good quality movies and this is superb in all ways picture and sound is just perfect. The story will capture you for two hours and when the movie is over you'd want to see more..

Summary: In True Comic Book Fashion
Review: Finally, a movie based on a comic book that actually remains faithful to the original book and characters. Of course if you're talking about the X-Men, you're talking subject matter that is more mature on many levels than most comics books. The story line goes head on into the racism and fear of mutants, people born with genetic differences that don't surface until they hit puberty and give them never seen before gifts that allow them to do pretty amazing things, some incredibly beautiful, others intensely frightening. Professor Charles Xavier (perfectly cast and portrayed by Patrick Stewart) is their unsung savior as a wealthy father figure who takes in these young people to try to mold them into something positive. On the other end of the spectrum is a jaded and bitter Magneto, also portrayed well by Ian McKellen, who believes that normal humans have had their chance and now something has to be done to show them that mutants are superior. Xavier's Senior students, Cyclops, Jean Gray and Storm help new found mutants Rogue and Wolverine discover who they are and what may lie in the future. The actions scenes are unique and original. All the actors give solid performances, especially Jackman, and Halle Berry impressed me with her Kenyan accent. I hope she speaks more in the sequel. The DVD is excellent for true fans because it's obvious that Director Brian Singer wanted so much more for this movie but just wasn't allowed to have it. Time, budget and a last minute search for someone to play Wolverine caused serious constraints. Considering the obstacles and the bad luck of past comic-book-to-movie adaptations, this one scores high and pleases fans and normal folks alike. It stands for something more than just heroes and villians, and it gives us a story about people, no matter who they are or what they can do. Buy this, if you have not already.
