Rating: Summary: By far the best dinosaur movie ever made! Review: Jurassic Park is certainly the best film ever made about dinosaurs. Not only is this a reference to the technical exuberance of the film, but it's attitude toward the subject. In most movies dinosaurs are seldom given proper respect and instead are treated as indestructible egines of death. Here they are not made the villians, instead forces of nature that should never have been tackled with. The underdeveloped characters and lacking plot are irrelevant. This film is excellent in production values and genuinly frightening.
Rating: Summary: Great special effects but NO STORYLINE! Review: People were raving 24-7 when this movie first came out. They were all so amazed by the special effects: the loundess of the dinosaurs, the fear that the T-Rex instilled, the dinosaur variety in the movie..blah, blah, blah. From this I was very reluctant to see the movie at first because it seemed like people were way more excited about the movie's external beauty (its special effects) then what REALLY was important, the plot. It's like the patrons who watched this movie never saw Hollywood special effects before. Granted, special effects are cool and all but they can not turn a boring, pointless movie into a good one. After all (at least for me) what gets me riveted to the edge of my seat is how good the storyline is, not hollywood's attempts to make a movie aesthetically pleasing. Geez, I guess we can keep the populace entertained by making a movie just about special effects and dumb noises... Forget the plot, just put all the scenes with explosions, and cool gunfire etc.. Rather than make a movie why don't we do this, it seems like a cacophony of noises entertains the populace more than a REAL movie does anyhow... My point is that this movie had no plot whatsoever... No purpose, no storyline. (It was just an accumulation of noises..) I finally decided to rent the movie some time after it came out since I was curious about it.. I was actually expecting to enjoy it since I am interested in dinosaurs and archeology (and since everyone loved that film so darn much!). However, after watching Jurassic Park, all FOUR members of my family disliked the movie! I do not blame them. VERY BAD FILM!
Rating: Summary: The quality of this movie will outlive its critics! Review: Jurassic Park has gotten a lot of criticism for not being the character-driven epic drama that film critics and non-horror fans wanted it to be, but it lives up to its only promise - it's the best dinosaur movie ever made to date! The dinosaurs were the stars of the movie, the actors were the props. That made the movie more believeable because when dinosaurs roamed the earth, they were the top of the food chain! It's completely plausible that once the dinosaurs are free to roam, human beings are reduced to the level of chickens running around trying not to get eaten or squashed. Character developement becomes moot when giant lizards are trying to eat you! If you want strong characters watch a John Cassavetes film. If you want to see realistic dinosaurs terrorize and eat people, stop pretending you're Siskel or Ebert, get out you're popcorn, and have fun! This movie is entertaining, scary, and fun!
Rating: Summary: Team Crichton Presents WEST WORLD II Review: In the early 70's Dr. Crichton offered us a glimpse of his future in the theatrical offering titled WEST WORLD. In this movie, honest people paid honest dollars to experience the past - as if they were actually there. This fantasy theme park (WEST WORLD), provided the patrons with DNA-laden robots that acted like you'd think they would act. Early on though, WEST WORLD'S raptorous gunslingin' robot (eagerly played by Yul Brenner), inexplicabily turns on the tourists! Been there, seen it, done it, had it. What a plagaristic let down Juarssic Park comes to be. Some of the dialogue is literally identical. There is a DNA subplot threading thru each and both films. Audience viewpoints are strikingly similar. Facial close-ups are favored. Control rooms look current-tech (given the twenty year, 'er, single generation time lapse), et al. Finally, at least for me, if the scene where Raptors chase kids through the kitchen reminds you of ALIENS, or THE SHINING, consider yourself observant.
Rating: Summary: Spielberg is at his best, since E.T!! Review: Jurassic Park is packed with on the end of you seat action! The graphs are cool! It has a A+ cast! But it has no point!! It stars Sam Neil, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Richard Attenborough. So if your in an Action and an exenlent movie mode rent Jurassic Park!! But it's rated PG-13
Rating: Summary: Good effects, a good jolt, no point Review: Good special effects and at least one of the most frightening things in cinema are the highlights of this movie. Alas, a decent script and any kind of idea beyond making lots of money are not. The film cannot face up to the true message that lies waiting in it's own story: that technology is a great danger that must be used responsibly. Making that movie would have put Spielberg in a serious bind: it would be a multi-million-dollar technologically state of the art movie about the dangers of multi-million dollar state of the art technology. So Spielberg adds some nonsense about the hero growing to love children(!!!!) to disguise the tidied up story. Fun, exciting, and totally devoid of content. That tyrannosaur is cool, though....
Rating: Summary: i Love when tim says"that was grate' Review: i LOVE jurassic park.and my favorite star is joseph mazzello "tim"
Rating: Summary: Genetically Engineered Dinosaurs terrorize a remote island. Review: Truly one of the Best Pictures of the Decade. Steven Spielberg's masterpiece is a truly unique story about a paleontologist Allen Grant (Sam Neill) and a Paleobotanist Ellie Satler (Laura Dern) who visits John Hammond's (Richard Attenborough) island filled with Engineered Dinosaurs. As the power fails and the animals get out of there pens, Grant and Hammond's two grandchildren try to find the others and survive and get off the island alive.
Rating: Summary: Good but disturbing for the light-hearted Review: This was a very good movie, special effects were brilliant. The theme of the film would most definitely disturb the light hearted. I mean, dinosaurs jumping out and ripping the head of a man is not my favourite cup of tea anyway.
Rating: Summary: A trip into the past Review: Absolutely fantastic film! Based on the book by Michael Crichton, Jurassic Park has just the right amount of suspense and action to play out the movie. Anyone who enjoys science fiction combined with excitement should put this on their must see list.
