Summary: A pleasant movie, excellent for families new to Japanimation
Review: My wife bought this film for our eight-year-old granddaughter, seems she got her love for anime at grandpa's knee. The story was simple enough for a child to enjoy without insulting their intelligence, and engrossing enough for me to sit through a few times. Good quality animation, likeable characters, and well written. I recommend it for the whole family. Parents need not worry that the children will be exposed to excessive violence or objectionable material.

Summary: Incredible movie... a masterpiece.
Review: With many films relying on formulas and manipulative ways to engross you in a story, this film will delight and entertain you because it has a great story and is told in a wonderful and honest way.

Summary: Best Anime Movie Since Miyazaki's Movie, 'My Neighbor Totoro
Review: I must say, this has GOT to be one of my all-time favorite movies next to Totoro! I'm 13, and I love Totoro, and I heard about Kiki. I saw both movies at the mall, and I got both of them. My friend and I watched the whole movie, and we both loved it. I think it is a family movie, and single people too would love it, and Totoro also. Go Kiki!!!

Summary: Forget renting it; this is a MUST OWN
Review: I'm getting one for my son (who made me rent it three days in a row) and one for my niece. And I LOVED it, which is something I can't say for most of my son's movies. I think the women's roles are so fleshed out, and powerful--I laughed through a lot of it at the fresh and unexpected dialogue. A great "coming of age" movie too. If the other reviews haven't convinced you yet, let me urge you with all sincerity to buy this video and sit down and watch it with your kids.

Summary: a REAL kids movie!
Review: A genuine, honest kids' story that adults can enjoy too. Proof that a children's movie does NOT have to have "evil villains" and scary locations in order to be absolutely enchantingly wonderful. Never sappy. No "clever entendres" referring to popular culture that are meant to go over the heads of the children like in a Disney movie. Just perfect. Definitely a must-see for those who want more in life than TV shoot-em-ups. (Too bad the original lyric music was changed, and Phil Hartmann's voice as JiJi the cat is rather a shock to us who have heard the Japanese JiJi, whose voice somehow fit a small male cat better.)

I also highly recommend "Totoro" by the same director, a real treat for young kids of all ages.

Summary: the best low-key story ever filmed
Review: This has to be the sweetest movie ever made. And unlike the Disney formula, which tries to grip kids with fear, evil and paranoia, it strikes me as an engrossing but totally emotionally healthy story - which is an amazing rarity.

Summary: the best animation film i have seen i years!
Review: i have loved anime(japanese animation) for years, since speed racer, robotech and Akira, but i was blown away by this film. While most anime is associated with graphic violence, Kiki is not at all violent and this is what makes it refreshing.

It is simply the best animation film i have seen under the Disney label (even though it was not made by Disney!)If you have children this is one film you can definately sit through and not be bored.

I have known for sometime that anime was superior to most animation here in the US, but most films have been filled with violence; even though they are great films (such as 'Akira' and 'Ghost in the Shell') they were not really for kids, thereby limiting anime's exposure. But Kiki is film that everyone can enjoy.

I highly recommend this film, if you purchase any animation, this is the film to buy. While everyone waits for the new Star Wars this summer, i'm waiting for Prince Mononoke, another Miyazaki film.

horay for Kiki's Delivery Service!

Summary: A masterpiece the way it was meant to be seen.
Review: An utterly brilliant film! I got my hands on a fan-subbed copy a few years back, and was simply delighted when I watched it. I loved My Neighbor Totoro but this film renewed my faith in life (well maybe not that inspiring but close)! I was over-joyed when I heard that the film was going to be brought to the states by disney no less! And although the dubbing is great for kids, a few of the casting choices are off (Phil Hartman as Jiji!?!) and I think the original voice job is much better in tone with the characters. So BUY BUY BUY!!!!!

Summary: Props to Miyazaki!!!
Review: Bar none, this is one of the best family films in a long time. The story line is quite nice, and reflects many desires of children growing up. Kiki's Delivery Service is a film that should be shared with the family as well as in the elementary classroom. Props have to go out to Miyazaki for his work on this film. The story is quite nice, the animation great and the overall positive feel of "Kiki's" makes this movie a must have in any family video collection.

Summary: Great film for Pagans and their children!
Review: There are very few films these days that a Pagan family can feel good about sitting down together to watch. Well, with Kiki's Delivery Service we can add one more to our list. Unlike so many films, the witches in in this fabulously eye-catching Anime are depicted rather closely to what modern Witches are. There is still that element of fantasy with Kiki flying on her broomstick and being able to verbally talk to her cat, but they are not the primary focus of the film. We even get to see that Kiki's mom is an herbalist hedgewitch. The primary themes here, though are the lesson that true magick comes from within and is reflected in kindness and consideration, dreams and determination. Another lesson offered up in this totally engaging film is that of respect, both for oneself and for others.

Overall, the story is both humorous and imaginative. The characters are well-developed and well performed. Kirten Dunst does an outstanding job as Kiki and Phil Hartman's performance as her cat Gigi is a pure delight. There's even a wonderful Earth Mother insprired character named Osono, who helps young Kiki find her place in the world through friendship.

I feel this movie is a good bet for any Pagan family or even a single Pagan if one happens to enjoy a great animated feature as I do :-). So it is, for a slightly different reason, I will have to agree with another reviewer who stated "five stars are not enough" for this truly wonderful and innovative Anime.
