Rating: Summary: Glad this movie is coming out on DVD. Review: I am sooo glad this DVD is finally coming out on DVD. I look at all these bad movies on DVD, and was wondering a long time about why such a good movie like this isn't coming out yet... but finally it is coming out. This has got to be one of my favourite childhood movies... and I am pretty sure I will get it when it comes out.
Rating: Summary: So What Did Bastian Name the Childlike Empress? Review: This movie is wonderful - wonderful in and of itself and wonderful because it's something I've adored since I was little. I find again and again that this movie is something which all people of a certain age have seen. It something we can bond over . . . it's that great. Not only is it great, but it is in the rare class of movies which surpass the books or plays they were based on, such as Fight Club and The Philadelphia Story. While the movie maintains smooth transitions from Atreyu's experience to Bastian's (really one of the greatest aspects of the movie), the book transitions in a way which is disruptive and annoying. This movie will remain one of my favorites forever. And, while the book does, in fact, reveal the Childlike Empress' name, take it from me that in its state of mystery, we come up with a name in our imaginations that will always be more beautiful than anything Mr. Ende could have provided us with.
Rating: Summary: You are in the story, and it feels powerful! Review: This film, for children, is interesting because it goes against a common belief of kids that stories are nothing but stories, that is to say that they have no reality. This is the impact of television and zapping. This story, very well produced as for the characters and the special effects, is the tale that Fantasia, the country of children's tales, of children's imagination is going to be destroyed by Nothing because kids do not believe in stories anymore, do not believe in the reality of stories, for themselves, that is to say do not believe that stories are essential for them, kids, to just plainly mature and survive in the world. Their imagination is necessarily real, even if the production of this imagination is virtual. It is a virtual reality. So, the hero is dragged into believing he is part of this Fantasia world, because by accepting this plain fact he is able to save it from destruction, and he does. Dr Jacques COULARDEAU, Paris Universities II and IX.
Rating: Summary: The Neverending Story Forever! Review: ...I have seen this movie more that 15! It is one of the best fantacy movies that I have ever seen and It takes my breath away everytime. It is just so magical in every possible way. I have also read the book and it is one of the only fantacy books I can actually understand. The movie was very well casted and it was great special effects. I reccommend the The neverending Story II The Next Chapter but the third is better left unsaid. I love the Auryn and the shape that it is in. As far as I know, Stephen Spielburg has it hanging in a glass cover in his office. I it just so amazing. I recommend this for the whole family
Rating: Summary: The Neverending Story- A critcal analysis Review: I have only a few words to say- The Book was WAY better. The movie is based on fallacies that aren't present in the book. It's only saving grace are the adorable and strange characters of Fantastica
Rating: Summary: IT'S THE BEST EVER!! Review: I am was born in 1983, and when I was growing up I happened to notice this very thrilling movie that my older sister was watching. I thought nothing of it, till now. Awhile ago, I pulled it off of my video shelf, and I was in " Awe " after I was done. I fell in love with it. It has a GREAT choice of people to play the characters. My favorite, is Noah Hathaway. I totally fell head over heals for him in the movie! This movie, has a great moral to it, and really made me stop and think. This is a MUST SEE MOVIE of all times! This movie will make you want to see it over and OVER! ( That's so true, because I have seen it a total of 9 times in 3 days!!)
Rating: Summary: What an amazing movie... Review: True, this movie may not be the best as far as acting, or filming, or anything, but the story beats out anything else that I ever watched as a kid. Neverending Story is a true fantasy movie, but it gets me every time, and I'm almost 21 years old! I'd have to say that this makes my top 5 list.
Rating: Summary: The Neverending Story Review: I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie! I was born in 1980 and this movie is my all time favorite (along with Labyrinth)of my childhood. Even now that I'm older I still look back at this movie and it still amazes me and it never ever gets old, I watch it everytime it's on tv. Now the one thing I want more than anything is for this movie to be released on DVD, Get crackin' Warner Brothers! I can't believe such a classic hasn't been released yet. I just hope they aren't waiting for the anniversary to release it. Fans write to WB if you want it released on DVD, I know that DVDs released by WB have little on them for bonus features, but I think that it could be released as a special edition, which usually has a ton of behind the scenes footage.
Rating: Summary: we can be heroes Review: I enjoyed this movie so much in my youth [and still do, even though the acting is a bit overwrought, and it looks and sounds as dated as it is] because it spoke to me of something that even then I already knew: Imagination is not something childish or dangerous to be snuffed out, but nourished -- for it is in our fantasy life that we learn to grow and understand our world; where we gain the courage and the self-knowledge needed to face and overcome our self-doubt, dispair, and hoplessness [our own "dark beasts" within]. The overwhelming message here is to "do what you dream", because we each have the power to change our own lives [and maybe a universe or two in the bargain].
Rating: Summary: Good kid's movie, but... Review: I'm 13, and when I first saw this when I was maybe 4 or 5, I got really freaked out about Gmork! hehe....Well, I saw it maybe...a year ago and I thought it was great. Recently I read the book, and realized that it stops with Bastian calling out her name. IT IS NOT THE END! Bastian meets Atreyu and Moon Child and Falkor, and a million other characters. The book is WAY better than the movie. The movie compared to the book is NOTHING. Maybe its a good movie for kids around 6-8, but when you get older, READ THE BOOK!
