Rating: Summary: 3 hours and no Tom Bombadil??? Explanation please!! Review: Okay, okay! This movie is pretty great and all and I have to say that many scenes were done solidly and went along with what I imagined they should be. It was great to finally see a film version of Middle Earth that was worthy, even though it was long winded, but hey. And, I will concede that some elements of the story it's alright to change to get the film to flow better. However, it struck me, after the scene where the hobbits arrive at the sign of the Prancing Pony, that one of the most magical sequences (to me anyway!) of the story had been left out. I still felt kind of like I missed something, even after the movie was over and I thought, WOW! I keep thinking that they could have squeezed old Bombadil in there somewhere, I mean, he is one of the most amazing and mysterious characters of the saga. He has been around at least as long as the elves and has all sorts of "powers" over the land. I would have given anything to see him singing along in his yellow boots and putting it to Old Man Willow and the Barrow Wight. Remember that the hobbits get their weapons from the barrows in the book, but in the movie, Aragorn just kind of produces some blades and says, "Here, use these". Maybe there was a scene or two filmed and they just didn't use them for the movie and they'll turn up on the DVD, I don't know. Anyway, I guess Mr. Jackson figured that the scenes in the old forest were not central enough to the story to include them in an already LONG movie. Hey, it is still one of the best movies I have seen in a long time, if not THE best since I have loved the books from childhood. But I could have sat there an extra 10, 15 minutes or so just to see the River Daughter and Old Tom. That's the only reason I gave this movie 4/5 stars! I look forward to the next film to see how the Ents are portrayed!
Rating: Summary: A thrilling movie! Review: Like many good action adventure stories, the hero is an unsuspecting one. He finds himself with a monumental and very dangerous task to fulfill. Here the hobbit, Frodo (played by Elijah Woods) has the job of destroying a seemingly innocent-looking ring that is responsible for evil and the destruction to all mankind and other living beings. Along Frodo's journey, he meets all kind of foes and a fellowship of interested parties form to protect and help him complete his mission. All the characters are convincing and the film is filled with a lot of suspense. It opens with a gripping scene of battle against Lord Sauron, who wants to control that world, and his army. The movie is visually pleasing with beautiful and dark scenery - from the hobbits' village (The Shire) to the other places that Frodo crosses during his quest. At the end of the movie, the viewer is left wanting to immediately see the second part and then the third part of the trilogy. Since the continuing film versions of the trilogy are still in the making, one will have to do with watching this first part again. Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings will inspire you to read the book if you haven't done so before or re-read it if you already have. Fafa Demasio
Rating: Summary: As Close as it gets Review: As a fan of LOTR for 25 years, I was very skeptical of how they could make a movie, and was also pre-skeptical. I have the books just about memorized. Never have I been so pleased. All the imagination I had about what middle earth was matched very closely to the movie. I just can't wait until THE TWO TOWERS comes out. That was the only drawback to the movie. I already knew what was going to happen. Another huge surprise was that they followed the book almost exactly. My Precious
Rating: Summary: The One Movie to Rule them All!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: This is definately the best movie ever made. It has absolutely no flaws. The special effects are spectacular, and they did a good job with making middle Earth look like Middle Earth. This is the first part of 3 movies. It is about Frodo Baggins who has got the one ring to rule all rings. Sauron is the villan and he is trying to take that ring from him. Frodo must journey to the Cracks of Doom which is located in Sauron's Lair! Along the way he faces Orcs, Goblins, and other things. Watch this movie over Harry Potter.
Rating: Summary: visually stunning. Review: This expertly directed film by Peter Jackson deserves to be seen just for this man's directing talent alone. Just how talented is he? Well let me say this. I was totally engaged by this film even though I thought the depiction of the Lord of the Rings story was very average. It was more sword and sorcery than Tolkien. I thought the performances by the primary actors were very good (especially Wood, McKellen and Bloom). However, I wish the hobbit protagonists would have done a little more fighting on their own. It seems like they're riding Mortennsen's coat tails. I guess that means I'll probably enjoy the Two Towers a little more since the fellowship is now scattered and The Two Towers promises bigger and better battle sequences. All in all the Fellowship of the Ring, while definitely not a film classic(You hear me all you idiots who made this the number one film of all time on IMDB.), is worth seeing because of Jackson's directing talent, Elijah Wood's brilliant acting(best actor under 30 today bar none), and splendid effects. There should be an investigation if Peter Jackson doesn't win a best director oscar. Elijah Wood deserves at least an oscar nomination.
Rating: Summary: WOW!!! Review: I was extremely worried about watching this movie. I have SO loved the books, and usually when that happens you end up disappointed when it's adapted to the screen. This, by far, was not the case! This has to be one of the most exciting movies ever filmed. Even knowing the plot (which the movie followed almost religiously) you're still on the edge of your seat. To me the highlights was of course the special effects and the musical score, which was just tremendous. The cast was outstanding, without a weak spot. My 14 year old daughter, who had never read the books, was able to follow the plot well and enjoyed the action, even though this isn't her type of flick. This is a movie for anyone who enjoys exciting and intense movies, even if you're not a fantasy fan. Just be forewarned: I would not take a child under 10 to this. This is not Harry Potter! The evil creatures are very scarry to young children, as witnessed by many parents having to escort their children out at certain times. The movie, at just under 3 hours, flies by and before you know it you're begging for part 2 (The Two Towers) to start. I don't know if I can wait until next December.
Rating: Summary: COOL MOVIE Review: An epic tale of a group of heroes on a journey to save their world from an evil ring of power. A brotherhood of hobbits, elves, dwarves, and people join forces to combat evil.

Rating: Summary: Too Much To Say Review: After seeing this movie for the first time on opening day, (i've seen it 5 times and couting..) i was breathless. This movie was absolutly amazing. Before it came out, i was scared that it was going to be horrible, but it was completely the opposite. Just the way they made Middle Earth, it was pretty much perfect, at rivendell and lothlorien, i wanted to be there. The acting was also superb, especially Ian McKellen's performance of Gandalf, he WAS Gandalf. And while they did cut out and change a few things (like Tom Bombadil) this movie was still amazing, i think it's one of the best ever made. I'm really excited for the next installments, i see it that i likde the second book better then the first, so i'm hoping the second movie is amazing also, but for right now, just take in the awe that is Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. *By the way, invest in the soundtrack, it is astounding!!
Rating: Summary: Silver Teaspoons Review: All right, so the young hobbits are really fanatical about the movie. I can see why. It's dramatic, showed a great deal of them as extras, was full of adventure, and was directed well. The only problem was that I wasn't in it.
