Summary: Face It; This Is The Best Movie Of 2002!
Review: "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" was not only the most anticipated movie of 2002, but also the best movie of 2002. It is way better than its wonderful prequel "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring". The action and adventure in this movie are VERY intense, and the drama is well done. Now I can't wait to see "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King", a sequel to "The Fellowship of the Ring" and "The Two Towers". Oh! I forgot to say: DOWN WITH THE TOLKIEN PURISTS!!!

Summary: Masterful Rendition of Tolkien's Vision
Review: In 1994, when Houghton Mifflin Company published a single copy of The Lord of The Rings, Douglas A. Anderson wrote a 'revised note to the text' making it clear that J. R. R. Tolkien's famous epic novel was "often erroneously called a trilogy, when it is in fact a single novel, consisting of six books plus appendices, sometimes published in three volumes". The three volumes Anderson referred to, The Fellowship of The Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of The King, were initially developed by the original publishers for purposes of cutting down on the cost of printing (David Colbert, The Magical Worlds of The Lord of The Rings). According to Colbert it was the publishers who first came up with the title The Two Towers for the second volume. Given his fascination with and penchant for referring to dozens of important towers within the novel, Tolkien himself wasn't sure which two towers were in fact denoted by the title and was therefore initially unconvinced by the title itself. However Tolkien eventually conceded and thus the myth of the trilogy of The Lord of The Rings was born.All of this background is not for wont when reviewing Peter Jackson's film version of The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers. In spite of following the traditional lead of breaking the story up into three films, he has essentially remained faithful to the text, as faithful as any movie director can be expected to when trying to adapt such an epic to the big screen, by maintaining a continuous uninterrupted flow from the first film to the second. The Two Towers immediately picks up right where the Fellowship of The Ring leaves off and we are again treated to a movie masterpiece so entrancing and perfectly paced. The Two Towers is filled with rich three-dimensional characters and plotlines, beautiful performances, and numerous battle scenes amidst breathtaking landscapes. Frodo (Elijah Wood) and Sam (Sean Astin) continue in their quest to bring the one ring to Mordor and destroy it in the very fires from which it was forged while the rest of the fellowship is split up into several factions in an effort to find their lost friends and take up the fight against the armies of the Dark Lord Sauron and the traitorous Saruman. New characters are introduced, notably the Ents, Grima Wormtongue, King Theodon and the creature Gollum. The film is undoubtedly mythical, just as Tolkien had intended, but it also more than adequately explores many of the difficult problems and questions Tolkien had examined during his lifetime; the inevitable encroachment of industrialization, and its impact on modern human society; the quest by some for unfettered power over all races; the onslaught of war in order to both provoke and quell that quest; the longing by others for peace and pastoral tranquility; and the endless forging and breaking up of alliances between the different races to achieve or defeat these varying quests. In many ways Gollum's character is a microcosm of these competing interests, providing much of the film's most vivid and provocative moments and leaving the audience with much to ponder. It is perhaps to their considerable credit and understanding of today's moviegoers that Jackson and his collaborators did not make one nine hour film but don't be surprised when the movie ends and the credits roll if instead you don't find yourself wishing they had.

Summary: This movie completely trashed my expectations for the third.
Review: I just don't believe it. I, having never read the books, went to see the first Lord of the Rings movie because I liked what I saw in the trailers. I completely enjoyed it. Fellowship was an amazing movie, with a plot that had me on the edge of my seat. I went to see this movie hoping to see the same thing. I was completely dissipointed. I, having never read the books, will not compare movie to book. I will simply judge the movie as if there was no book. First of all, the first two hours of the movie just seem to slowly plod along, with no more than two action scenes. One of them is completely pointless. This time is basically taken up by scenes of talking. You really wonder why that flashback was really added into the movie, because it really (at this point,) had nothing to do with the story. The character developement from the Fellowship is completely gone in this movie, as there are three different plots to this movie, and having to fit them all in a three hour time limit is hard enough. There is really no room to show character's emotions, even their thoughts and personalities. The movie shifts from one scenario to another, before you really can take in what is happening. Needless to say, it's hard to really grasp the seriousness of Frodo's situation when 10 minutes later, you are immediately taken to a scene showing two hobbits riding on trees. These scenes, with no musical score, and very little action, (just talking) just seem to be an abrupt freeze in the plot, because until the end, this scene has absolutely little to do with the movie. I'm not saying that talking scenes are bad; they are necessary for the story, but they could have been a lot shorter, with more action. After the first hour and forty five minutes, preparations for battle are beginning. (finally...) and when the battle starts, instantly, you are interested. The battle scene (which is about an hour long,) reminds you how great Fellowship was, where battle scenes took up a lot of the movie, and how thrilled you were during that. Of course, you are interrupted from the battle with continuations to the tree-riding scene, and Frodo's plot, which, once the main plot, is pushed to the back seat, also plods along, and until the end, you have no idea if he's really accomplishing anything. After the battle scene, there are short resolutions, with all three plots, although you are left with the thought that Frodo seemed to accomplish nothing in this adventure. I give this movie two stars for the battle scene, which, while only about an hour long, shows that this movie has great moments after all.

Review: "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" is a wonderful movie! Do not read the reviews of the Tolkien Purists. They are just too in love with the great author J.R.R. Tolkiens "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy books which is what this movie is based on. So what if they made changes, cut, and added some parts to this movie! I have read the books too and loved them, but I am NOT complaining about how phenomenal this movie is! "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers", based on the second "Lord of the Rings" trilogy book by J.R.R. Tolkien, is a wonderful movie that you should see in theaters if you saw "The Fellowship of the Ring" it's spectacular prequel. I love this movie! But the Tolkien purists just do not love this movie because they do not know a good movie when they see one. J.R.R. TOLKIEN WOULD HAVE BEEN PLEASED AT DIRECTOR PETER JACKSON AND HIS CREW. AND TOLKIEN WOULD UNDERSTAND WHY THEY HAD TO MAKE CHANGES, CUTS, AND ADDED PARTS IN THIS MOVIE. TOLKIEN WOULD ALSO BE PLEASED BECAUSE THIS MOVIE HAS INSPIRED PEOPLE TO READ HIS BOOKS.

Review: THIS MOVIE IS THE WINNER OF TWO WONDERFUL OSCARS! "THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS" IS A LOT BETTER THAN "HARRY POTTER" AND IT IS A PROVEN FACT. THERE ARE MORE FANS OF "LORD OF THE RINGS" THAN THERE ARE "HARRY POTTER". "THE TWO TOWERS" IS MIND BLOWING!

And "This is the best fantasy movie that we have seen in decades", says the critics at Chicago Tribune. Audiences and critics across the globe are amazed at only one movie this year; and that's "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers". And it is all true! That is how good this movie is. I downloaded one of the commercials off the internet and listened to the speaker talk about how spectacular this movie is. "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" is truly the best movie of the year, not "Chicago".

There is a lot of heroism and courage in this movie; and there is a lot of action and adventure! What are you waiting for!? See this movie in theaters if you have not seen it yet! Pretty soon this movie will not be shown in theaters so you better hurry up and see it! "The Two Towers" is the best movie that I have seen in years! This movie is amazing!
