Rating: Summary: Pirate entertainment for a new generation Review: When I was a kid, we had the daring, charming, gymnastic duo of Burt Lancaster and Nick Cravat in The Crimson Pirate. Today's generation can fully enjoy Pirates of the Caribbean and the off-balanced fun provided by Masters Depp, Rush and Bloom. This movie is exciting, entertaining, campy fun for all ages, a new high water mark for a genre as old as the movies themselves!
Rating: Summary: Yo ho ho, A pirates life for me! Review: His silly, swaying walk. His fast, confusing talk. His hilarious one-liners. All combined to be the hilarious Johnny Depp playing Captain Jack Sparrow in Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean. Pirates of the Caribbean is a magnificent story with fancy dresses, daring rescues and, yes, cursed pirates . The cursed pirates of The Black Pearl (their ship with black sails) are after one of the 882 pieces of Aztec gold they stole from a special, cursed chest. After taking the gold, the pirates learned they were cursed with a terrible curse that turned them into decaying skeletons when they stepped into the moonlight and that kept them from dying. The last piece of the gold that they are searching for is in possession of Elizabeth Swann (played by Keira Knightly). Miss Swann is the fancy young daughter of the Governor of Port Royal. When Elizabeth is kidnapped by the pirates, young Will Tuner (played by Orlando Bloom) must seek help from Captain Jack Sparrow in order to rescue her. When I went to see this movie, I walked in expecting a creepy movie with pirates jumping out of unexpected places. If that's what you expect, think again. Your expectations will be exceeded greatly. So sharpen your sword, fetch your pirate's hat and parrot, and prepare to see the best movie of the summer and the best live action movie Disney has ever created. I saw this movie 6 times in theatres, and I have already preordered it. This is one movie that is fun for the whole family, and a movie I, personally, will NEVER get sick of
Rating: Summary: Simply the best Pirate film ever!! Review: What can you say that hasn't been said already. I went to see this film simply due to the fact that Johnny Depp (The greatest actor of our time) was in it. I went in expecting nothing.....and came out with a movie now in my all time top 10! This movie has something for everyone: Action, adventure, comedy, romance, incredible special effects....you name it, it's here. I would challenge anyone to find a reason not to like this film.
Rating: Summary: Widescreen only, thank you Review: I don't know why anyone would want to see this funny, fantastic-looking movie in "fullscreen" (Fool Screen, that's a great name!) because a good chunk of the picture is whacked off on each side. I personally would always rather see the director's vision of a film. It's their movie, and ignorant yokels should have no say in how it's presented. Keep the widescreen releases coming. Oh yes, I really liked this movie!
Rating: Summary: 5 stars for Great Movie and Widescreen Only Release!! Review: My brother bought this movie and we watched it last night. It's a great movie. The adventure, special effects, action, and everything is just perfect and definently would be ruined with a foolscreen release.
Rating: Summary: Thank God they didn't release a Full Screen version! Review: This movie was a true epic in every sense of the word and I am quite pleased that Disney chose not to butcher this movie for a "Fool Screen" to cater to a shrinking minority that has zero respect for cinema. The last thing you want to do is eliminate 45% of the picture when so much is happening on-screen! I don't have a widescreen tv, but that doesn't mean I'de ruin a superb picture like this to "fit" it to my screen. Kudos to Disney for a top-notch OAR-only release. You can always zoom, right? Oh, and for the poor guys like Scott Mitchell who don't have the faintest clue what the heck their talkin about, www.widescreen.org. Widescreen IS the full picture, Fullscreen is HALF of it. It's called the future so get used to it. :)
Rating: Summary: What I loved - he's such a loser and doesn't realize it! Review: Depp's character doesn't get much right - from the first scene with the sinking boat that would have been a problem for anyone else (yeah, I meant to do that!) to losing the Pearl and getting caught over and over. But he is so confident and charming and insane that he won't get that he's screwed up - and the beauty is that WE don't quite catch it either. As someone else said, in anyone else's hands Sparrow would be a cartoon. Depp's characterization was brilliant. It's not high art, but if you like Depp at all, it's a lot of fun.
Rating: Summary: I Saw The Movie 12 Times In Theaters Review: The absolute best movie i have seen in my past 11 years of age, was and is Pirates Of The Carribbien!!!!!!!!! Plus it was awesome when i found out Johnny Depp was in it! He Is the best actor in the world, I love Him!!!
Rating: Summary: A Must Buy DVD Review: This is the best pirate movie there is and is one of the best movies all year. I pre-ordered this this dvd and can't wait for next week to get it. To make things even better it is 2 disc collectors edition, you can't want it any better!!!
Rating: Summary: Disney& other foolish studios that won't release full screen Review: This is an absolutely fantastic movie, but for Disney not to release a full screen version is disgraceful. Probably 95% of the population does not have widescreen TV, and yet the studios continue to force widescreen DVD's on us. Bless the few studios that put both versions(one on each side). I, for one, refuse to buy widescreen DVD's. And I will not buy VHS...get it Disney? I don't buy your movie. I rent the VHS and make a copy...now I've got the MPAA mad, and you could so easily make everyone happy, and yourself millions more to boot. Now for the movie...Depp is incredible in the swashbuckler role, being funny, cute, debonair, and just an incredible actor. The movie will keep you entertained throughout, and isn't that why we like movies to begin with. Highly reccomend for those who buy VHS and those with widescreens...for everyone else(90%)of America, hold out till they realize they are missing the big picture(FULL SCREEN RELEASES!!!)
