Summary: A jolly romp, but a bit thin on content
Review: This movie may have a PG-13 rating, but be sure this is a solid kids movie. While this film does have its lulls it never stops moving, I kept saying to myself, "this would make a great amusement park ride." Thats what this movie is a fully engaging amusement park ride. There is enough in here for the parents and the kids are sure to have fun, just make sure to leave a bit of time after to discuss it, there are some slightly distrubing scenes.

Review: this is actually a movie that you have fun watching. it centers around a piece of gold that the pirates of the black pearl are desperately searching for. as the gold travels from place to place, our heroes (johnny depp as jack sparrow, orlando bloom as william turner, and keira knightley as elizabeth swan) must use their wits and their swords to save themselves from the black-hearted pirates (and in the cases of some, deliver a come-uppance). it's extremely entertaining, has a good blend of action and comedy, and it stands on a firm plot. anyone who complains that it's too long, or at heart it's a silly disney movie- where's your sense of fun? this is one film that you should not sit down with and pick out all the technical problems. enjoy it for what it is: a swashbuckling adventure story. all around, the actors were good, but johnny depp stood out with his fantastic performance. if anything, see it for him! although this movie was rated PG-13, it's really for all ages. the violence was milder than harsh, and there was little swearing. bottom line: look at the title of my review!

Review: In Pirates of the Caribbean, Gore Verbinski puts love, humor, and amazing action all mixed together. Running 2:23 minutes long you'd think a movie might get dull but 'Pirates' never does.

Summary: Not Your Typical Pirate tale
Review: "Where do the stories come from if there weren't any survivors?Colonial times with the grand costumes were played out in part of this movie. All the King's men wore white wigs. Eight years after a certain rescue at sea, there is a pirate invasion of Port Royal where the notorious Jack Sparrow is encased in jail. With his gold teeth, he didn't fit the image of a swashbuckler; he made a slightly gay pirate. The sword play was loud but not very graceful. In fact, Johnny Depp looked more like a hippie than a pirate. The rescued lad with the gold Aztec gold medallion had become the blacksmith who'd devised quite a strange setup with a donkey and various and sundry oddities in his shop. There were little details such as the cat scampering away as the fighting began. The soldiers used muskets; there was lots of fighting and bits of humor. The band of pirates who pillaged the town were portrayed as unkempt, though some were halfway intelligent. One even knew the story of the Trojan horse and the word 'inopportune.' Jack goes from jail on land to a brig on a pirate ship full of mutinous crew mates. That ghost ship was a nightmare of the living dead. He lost the gold medallion which was taken by the monkey also named Jack. There was a certain code of honor among theives, though they considered their code merely as guidelines. One of their codes was "Any man who falls behind is left behind." They did nothing if it had no profits for themselves. You could never trust a pirate's word. One said that a decision made for the wrong reasons is a wrong decision. As he is stranded on the same deserted island as before, we can only wonder if he will conjure up another miraculous escape. This time his mate sets the trees on fire so any rescuer would see the sight. The HMS Dauntless finds them but too much fighting ensues and poor Jack becomes one of the ghouls. Though there were a few tropical scenes, there was not much of beauty to be seen in this film. It would have been better billed as a horror movie.

Summary: ArRr! A Pirate's life for me!
Review: Wow. I have to say I was blown away by this movie. Being an absolute Orlando Bloom fan, this movie was a must-see anyhow.
The action is great throughout the entire movie, including many humorous scenes with Johnny Depp (Captain Jack Sparrows). Intertwined into the overall story line of Jack Sparrow wanting his stolen ship back, the cursed Black Pearl, is a love story between the beautiful Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightely) and Will Turner (Orlando Bloom<3). This movie is a super family movie that will make you long for the pirate's life!

Summary: I Loved It!
Review: I saw the movie last night and it was excellent. I've read several reviews saying that it was a typical pirate movie but I don't think I saw the same film. Johnny Depp does an excellent job, as does the entire cast, keeping the movie freash and interesting. I was sad when the movie ended and wanted more. There are some movies where you fidget and get bored, just at certain parts, but not in this one. I especially love the fact that the movie uses settings and actions from the Pirates of the Carribean ride. It was fun trying to spot all the scenes from the ride in the movie (I think most of them are in it). This movie is definitely worth paying full price to see and I will be seeing it again.

Review: I thought this movie was amazing. there was nothing bad about it! there was only one technical error i noticed, and I think that's pretty good! It was a long movie, but it never felt like it was too long! I've never seen any of Johnny Depp's other movies, but he was amazing in this one! It wasn't quite a comedy, an action, or a horror movie, which made it great!
maybe somebody can answer my question for me: it said on a web site that it is only in theaters......what does that mean?

Summary: Best Summer Movie!!!
Review: This was a great movie! I'd been waiting months to see PoTC and when it came out I was not dissapointed! Johnny Depp was amazing. He IS Captain Jack Sparrow! Love the pirate makeup! Of course Orlando Bloom was just as awesome as Will. And he's hot! The special effects are great, especailly when the pirates turn from human into skeleton, and vice versa. The movie has many memorable lines that I'll probably be quoting for the next 6 months, along with singing the yo-ho song. Another great thing about Pirates is that it kept true to the ride, from the prisoners trying call the dog holding the keys to the man sleeping with the pigs to the different lines every now and then, such as captain Barbossa yelling "Ya bloomin' cockroach!" I definitely give this movie 5 stars and reccomend it to anyone who's prepared to be "Blown out of the water."

Review: I went to see this movie yesterday, n i was blown away! Johnny Depp is HILARIOUS!! He was this roguish, always drunken type of pirate.. funny jokes, witty lines.. jonny depp was fantastic! Orlando Bloom was this soft spoken, sensitive, blacksmith apprentice, and cared deeply for elizabeth swann (keira knightley) basically the epitome of your white knight to save you.. He was brave, courageous, and very very skilled with a blade!! the sword fights and special effects in this movie are flawless! Keira Knightley was absolutely wonderful in the movie. she was outspoken, very strong character.. and Geoffrey Rush, was arrRrr a damn good evil, skeleton pirate! I highly recommend this movie to everyone, and GO SEE IT!!

Summary: Summer Fun at the Movies
Review: I highly expected this film to not impress or amuse me. But I was wrong.
"Pirates" is a fun trip through the high seas led by Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom.
There are great performances in this film, Depp is absolutely wonderful as Captain Jack Sparrow, the half insane, just plain goofy pirate. He's easily endeared to the audience, and he's fun to watch.
The most surprise I had came with Bloom's performance. I loved him in the "Lord of the Rings" films, but I didn't know if he'd be able to carry a film like "Pirates." He doesn't carry it, Depp does, but Bloom holds his own in comedy and earnestness. The duo have good timing with each other, I hope to see them in another film together.
Geoffrey Rush also delivers a marvelous performance. I couldn't even recognize him, and he gets so lost in his character he is almost indistinguishable. Definitely another notch in his belt; he's a wonderful actor, and he gives it all in the film.
The script is pretty good although the plot is taken from about 5 other stories and combined (but that's ok, because it really works)
The effects are great (much better than "The Hulk")- It's fun to watch the pirates become skeletons.
I'm not going to say anything about the plot, because it's too much fun to have it ruined. Just see it.
It's probably true this is some of the most fun you'll have at the movies this summer. It's a great fairy tale/pirate story, definitely go see this one.
