Rating: Summary: Disney & Bruckheimer Make a Great pair Review: This film was great. Depp was great as Captain Jack, but the show stopper were the special effects. In one scene, when they're fighting it out, they show flest, turn to skeletens when moonlight hits them, & go back to flesh flawlessly. This was a truly masterful film. When the DVD does come out, I hope there's a special making of feature (and maybe a tour of the original Disneyland ride). Also as a side note, every scene from the ride is also in the movie. YoHo, YoHo, a pirates life for me. I can hardly wait to see what they do with Haunted Mansion. Now that the DVD's out, and I thought after the movie "It can't get better than this", it did. Not only do they have background material on the movie, but on the theme park ride itself (2 of them, but 1 requires a DVDRom). This is also the most exstensive use of DVDRom features that I've ever seen. It's so elaborate, that they even have a vertual tour of the ride (quick time 6.0 required), and a morphing kit called, "Moonlight Becomes Ye". Kudos to Disney Studios, and Bruckheimer for making what is quite possibly the most Entertaining, and Versitle DVD of the year.

Rating: Summary: Johnny Depp channels Keith Richards Review: While I felt that the swordfights went on a little too long, the movie minus Johnny Depp was an interesting and well done movie. Add Johnny Depp and the movie could have been horrendous, I would have loved it. His portrayal of the Captain of the Black Pearl is absolutely amazing!! I saw it a couple weeks ago, and I still smile when I think of his zaniness.
Rating: Summary: Great Summer Movie Review: If you are looking for a summer movie that is just plain fun and has it all, this is the one for you. No great message, no deep meaning, just pure entertainment in the style that has been absent from Hollywood for too long. A great flick that will no doubt leaving anyone smiling and hoping for a quick sequel.
Rating: Summary: Johnny Depp of the Caribbean Review: Perhaps I am a bit biased because I love Johnny Depp so much, but I think he really stole the show. Or rather made the show. Not that Pirates is a bad movie, its rather entertaining and the special effects were AWESOME for the undead pirates. However, the acting was somewhat lacking on the part of Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightly; they could have done much better. Geoffery Rush was passable as a pirate captain, though he was not as quirky nor as convincing as Mr. Jack Sparrow. One of the best parts of the movie (besides Depp of course) was the fact that Disney incorperated some parts of the ride into the movie smoothly enough so it didn't seem like an afterthought. If for no other reason, see Pirate's for Jack Sparrow. Or for Jack. ("Not you, we named the monkey Jack.")
Rating: Summary: Wow! A Disney movie I'll see again & again & again & etc. Review: I don't normally go for Disney.... too much singing & dancing -- there's only so many singing fish, mermaids, genies, etc you can go see. But, I went to see this one because of Orlando Bloom (& hey! It was real people.... can't have singing fish, now, can we? :) & boy am I glad! I think my favorite scene was "Gents! Let's walk!" I was stunned watching that scene! I can't say enough about this movie! From Depp coming on screen ("What do you say to three shillings and we forget the name.") to (almost) the end, I had a blast! I loved the sword fights, the funny comments by Depp's character, the CGI of the skeleton fight at the end w/Depp & Rush running in & out of the moonlight! Wow! The music was also fitting for this movie & I loved it. The only problem I had w/this movie was the end. Now the end was pure Disney & I had a hard time staying in my seat for it. Most people wouldn't act like that -- that was way too pretty an ending for my taste! Yech! All in all, I give this movie 4 stars. Would rate it higher except for that ending! What the heck were they thinking???

Rating: Summary: My First Swashbuckling Favorite Review: It's no doubt about it: this was a summer of sequels. But it's nice to know that there are some movies which will surprise you. This is the case in Pirates of the Carribean. First off, I was really unaware that the movie was based on the ride. Aside from that, it shocked me that it was so good. Here I am, expecting a boring time killer, when in fact, when it ended I never wanted to leave. Johnny Depp made the movie for me. His character(whom at times is either very courageous or clinically insane) excites the audience to the point where he is a hero who does no wrong, though he is a pirate. This is a must-see for the summer, unless your abandoned by your crew on an island.(You'll get that joke if you see the movie.)
Rating: Summary: The movie Review: this movie is so good...orlando bloom is so hott...johnny depp made the movie...if he wasnt in it the movie would have stuck...1 word to describe it is hilarious... see Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl... it a movie for the whole family
Rating: Summary: A Pirate's Life For Me Review: Johnny Depp thoroughly captivates as the swashbuckling Captain Jack Sparrow, with exploits that border on, nay, plunge over the edge, into the stuff that legends are made of. Geoffrey Rush is endearingly dashing as William Turner, the misguided hero rushing off to save his love and finding himself in the midst of it all. The filmography is stunning, with legend and reality mixing readily at the thrust of a sword or the light of the moon. Some of the premises laid down to facilitate the story line defy logic, but this does not detract from the true fun of watching this movie. I was exhilarated the first time I watched it, laughing out loud in the theater, applauding swordsmanship & articulation alike. The one-liners are exquisite, providing a wealth of script for the soon-to-appear Black Pearl cult, in the tradition of Rocky Horror Picture Show. I have been to the theater twice already to watch this movie, plan on taking my whole family, and will be buying it once it becomes available. Come with me and enjoy this truly delectable treat yet again.
