Summary: Brilliant!
Review: From top to bottom this film is wonderfully done and so entertaining. Every character is well-done, believable and has depth. The scipt has romance, adventure, humor, action, revenge, chivalry, legend, awesome special effects - everything you would want and expect in a pirate movie. If you haven't seen it yet, I dare you to see it and NOT want to memorize all of Johnny Depps lines - they're unforgettable! I've been to see it three times in the theater which I never do and it gets better everytime!

Pirates was a such a great movie to just chill and have a
fun time!!!I have seen it 6 times!! I really enjoyed watching Orlando be the Hero and save the girl!!
As for Johnny.. All he really wanted was the Pearl!! He also kept finding trouble a lot!!
Keira was such a wonderful damsel in distress who also in the end got to kick booty!!! It had Action,Adventure, Romance and great visul affects!!
It was just really a movie I was waiting for!! Pirates was really amazing!! It also had a wonderful cast!! We have all ready pre-ordered Pirates of the Caribbean!!
I will be so happy because I can watch it as Many times as I want to!!

Summary: Cool flick!
Review: This movie is just fun. Predictable, but fun. Alot of people liked it. I enjoyed it, but wasn't blown away by it. Definately a top 50 movie though. I'll stop here cuz if you've already read the previous reviews, then there is really nothing else left for me to say except that you're an idiot if you don't see the movie!

Review: Prepare to set sail on a wonderful sea-faring adventure helmed by the one and only, never topped Captain Jack Sparrow played magnificently by Johnny Depp. His show stealing performance *made* this movie. Now one of my all-time favorites I can't wait for it to be released on DVD. This is simply a MUST SEE!

Summary: More effusive praise & a few asides.
Review: A tremendously fun movie. In slight contradiction to the other reviewers here, Mr. Depp did not merely act his role extremely well, he completely submersed his personality into Capt'n Jack Sparrow and made him come alive as a real person. When I looked at the screen I did not think that Johnny Depp makes a great pirate, I thought, "Now HE'S a pirate I can like! Wish there had been some like him back then." [Edward England came close, but his career as a pirate came to an abrupt end when his crew marooned him for being too lenient to captives.] To borrow words from Harrison Ford, "I thought the POINT of acting was that you looked at the screen and thought --now THAT'S a [pirate]!" Mr. Depp succeeds in this. As to the rather churlish comments of one picayune person who thought it was stupid for the English to keep fighting foes they couldn't kill -- it's called SELF-DEFENSE! The undead pirates were attacking them and fighting back was better than, "We can't kill them so we'll lie down and die...." Finally, a note for everyone who wondered about Sparrow's eye-liner and/or suggested sexual ambiguity: Sailors, especially ones who had sailed in the vicinity of the East India Company(origin of Sparrow's pirate brand) and thus areas where use of kohl was common, used said kohl to cut the glare of the sun reflecting off the ocean. Much like football players use that black stuff under their eyes, but are in no way sexually ambiguous. Drink up me 'earties, YO HO!!!!

Summary: I agree with San Francisco
Review: I have to post my total agreement with the 50 year old father from San Francisco who is captivated with this wonderful movie and it's star, Johnny Depp. He mentioned that he is a straight man who finds himself relating to women who swoon over Johnny Depp. I am a gay woman and I find myself doing the same thing!! I have always appreciated Johnny Depp as an actor, but this magnificent performance of his has been somewhat of a revelation to me. I find myself constantly looking for Johnny Depp movies on TV. I bought Edward Scissorhands and Don Juan DeMarco last week from Amazon to add to my Johnny Depp collection. I have only seen Pirates once in the theatre, but I could easily view it over and over again. You can sense the joy that Johnny Depp must have experienced in playing Captain Jack Sparrow. He truly made that film far more enjoyable than it otherwise would have been. I agree with Mr. San Francisco that Johnny Depp should be nominated for an Academy Award (and should win!). I too would have an emotional investment in who wins. A movie that brings so much joy to its viewers does not come out very often, and a performance that captivates millions of viewers the way Johnny Depp's did, is very rare indeed. Johnny Depp has always made wise choices in the roles he plays and this one is a stroke of genius. After all, he was responsible for Jack's characteristics and mannerisms--even his gold teeth. While some people merely enjoyed the movie, some of us, like Mr. San Francisco and I, were transported by it. Hypnotized. Mesmerized. Changed forever somehow. Go Johnny!

Summary: Pirates: Need I say more?
Review: There are 3 kinds of movies are enjoy the most when done right: Horror, romantic comedies, and of course PIRATE MOVIES!!! :D The plot revolves around William(Orlando Bloom) and a girl(Forget her name, played by Keira Knightly) who have a run in with some pirates. Keira Knightly's character has a medalion that Caption Barbosa(Geoffry Rush), the caption of the Black pearl(hence the title), needs so that they can become mortal again. So of course Keira Knightly is kidnapped and William goes to her rescue with the help of captian Jack Sparrow(Jonny Depp). And well I wont say anything more in regards to the plot.! I guess its basiclly your typical pirate movie in the plot sense, but its GREAT.! Its better then average.! It has marvelous music, action sequense, beautiful locations, and great acting all around(Especially Depp he is absolutely perfect and amazing as Jack Sparrow. He really makes the movie. Though Geoffry Rush is quite good as well and of course Orlando Bloom is just plain hot and hahahaha anyways...). It seems like you're reading a VERY exciting book and it was A LOT better then I had expected it to be. So go ahead and see it. If you don't enjoy it, there must be something wrong with you.! Review: There were no bad eggs in this movie! I have seen it 9 times and each time I have loved it! Of course, it helps that Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom are some of the best looking actors to ever have graced the big screen.(= I love you Johnny Depp!!!

Summary: Surprisingly Well Done
Review: I'll admit I had my doubts about a movie based on a theme park ride. However, the vastly underrated Johnny Depp proved me wrong, and I couldn't be happier. Without giving away any plot info, I'll just say that the movie is a good blend of humor, action, and mystery. It also features great performances by some very talented actors, including the aforementioned Depp, Orlando Bloom of "Lord of the Rings", and the always entertaining Geoffrey Rush. Not only did I enjoy seeing this in the theatre, but I'll definitely be buying it on DVD.

Review: My daughter saw the movie five times...I only made it to three (only because I felt silly going to more...since I'm 40!) A truly "fun" flick...lots of action, comedy and overall adventure. Johnny Depp was awesome as Jack Sparrow, he stole the movie. Orlando Bloom is gorgeous, Keira Knightley was wonderful. I could see the movie a hundred times and never tire of it. I've pre-ordered already! My daughter wants to dress up as Jack Sparrow for Halloween. It's just such an overall enjoyable movie that really leaves you wanting more. Hope the sequel is as great.
