Summary: A GOOD START TO THE TRILOGY.
Review: This movie trilogy will be regarded as one of the best epics of our modern time along with star wars. The movie has a great story and fantastic visuals. The climatic ending is one not to be missed and leaves you wanting to see the next movie. My only gripe with the movie is that the beginning of the movie was a bit slow.I would recommend this movie to any fan of fantasy adventure movies.I cant wait to see the return of the king.

Summary: Boring Movie
Review: This movie is EXTREMELY BORING! Everybody said the film is so exciting, but I couldn't wait for the movie to be over! I kept looking at the time and it seemed to go on forever. It is too long and TOO boring. OVERRATED!

Summary: The long awaited
Review: The lord of the rings movie was annoused in um 1999 I think and boy I was exited. Peter Jackson has done a great job of transforming the book into a movie. They have taken out Tom Bombadil but who cares he wasn't that intresting anyway. The special effects were cool to. I don't remember the book saying that Aragorn has a beard. Many people were upset at the end. Everyone wanted more of the action. 10/10

Summary: Much better than the theatrical release.
Review: This version of the movie is far better than the pared-down version released in the theater. So much more has been added to enhance the storyline and the characterization that this is worth the extra money. I haven't watched all the extras on the third and fourth discs but I don't really care for the behind-the-scenes stuff.

Summary: So much better!
Review: Let me just add my "huzaah" to the ones listed below: this version is SO much better than the original cut. It makes more sense, is more true to the book, is better written, all in all blows the movie cut away. I watched it with a sense of relief: I didn't want to hate these movies but I was so disapointed with the original version that I had a hard time being enthusiastic about them. This is what it was meant to be, and now I can be a raving fangirl about these stories again without shame.

So ditch your old copy of the movie (if you ever got one) and buy this one instead. It's worth it.

Fair warning: it's broken into 2 portions, so you get a potty & snack break halfway through. You'll need it.

Summary: Best version of the film
Review: Most of the extended cut DVDs out there are not done this well. This is perfect, better than the 2-disc DVD. A must buy. Widescreen only.

Summary: One ring to rule them all
Review: Long had fans of J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" novels waited for a film worth making. The first in New Line Cinema's adaptions of Tolkien's novels, THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING is just that. In fact, it is the best film since about 1994.

Elijah Wood plays Frogo Baggins, the young Hobbit who discovers that his Uncle Bilbo's (Ian Holm) magic ring is actually the source of a wild hunt which involves elves, orcs, and other creatures of Middle-Earth. After being informed of the nature of this seemingly indestructable ring from wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen in one of his greatest roles), Frodo sets out for Rivendell while being chased by the hooded Ringwraiths. When finally he narrowly escapes death and arrives at the city of wonder, it is decided that a group of people shall bring the earth to Mt. Doom and destroy it - led by young Frodo. Thus the first live-action adaption of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Fellowship of the Ring" hits full-thrust.

Peter Jackson's THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING is a beautiful masterpiece of fantasy adventure, filmed in gorgeous New Zealand to give it that ancient, mystical feeling. Jackson's directing is terrific; he also scripted.

As a matter of fact, the script is the film's only problem, and a slight one at that. Tolkien fans may find themselves disappointed, as about 1/5 of the novel has been deleted from the film; for those people, I recommend the Extended Version. But true die-hard Tolkien/LOTR fans will find a gorgeous film.

Terrific special effects, terrific direction, terrific acting, terrific film. Of course, there is also Howard Shore's finest achievement as a score and some beautiful contributions by new age favorite Enya.

The first installment of THE LORD OF THE RINGS is unmissable. If you have not seen it, you have no idea what you're missing. It is, possibly, the greatest film of all-time. Leave it to one "Ring" to rule them all.

Summary: 13 Oscar nominations!!!
Review: This is simply one of the finest, most entertaining films since the glory days of "Star Wars." The last film to give me this kind of buzz was "The Matrix" in 1999. After seeing "The Fellowship of the Ring" I came out of the theater so enthralled and giddy that I went home, called up three of my closest friends, and went out the very same night and saw it a second time. I now own it on DVD and I look forward to so many things, from the special effects to the glorious score, each time I pop it in my player. This movie is a visual feast filled with excellent acting and filmmaking expertise. It won 4 Oscars, but eventually lost out to "A Beautiful Mind" for Best Picture. This should have won all 13 Academy Awards. This is a genuine masterpiece.
