Rating: Summary: Best movie in the whole wide world!!!! Review: Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" is totally brilliant, and I absolutely LOVE them. "Return of the King," however, holds a very special place in my heart. It is a great story, outstanding special effects, and a charming cast and crew to do the impossible. Thanks Peter!!!! We all love you!!!
Rating: Summary: The End of All Things Review: Here at long last is Peter Jackson's triumphant conclusion to his LOTR trilogy. I first saw the film on opening day, but it has taken me this long to be able to write about it for many reasons. The first of these is that I needed to absorb the story more fully, even though I read the book previous to seeing all of the films. The second is that I wanetd to write my own thoughts, without being influenced by what others thought. So here goes...With Return of the King, we are given a fuller representation of the dynamics between the many characters who we have met and followed over the course of the previous two films. At the center of the movie in terms of powerful performances are Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn/King Elessar, Ian McKellen as Gandalf the White, and Sean Astin as Sam and Elijah Wood as Frodo, respectively. Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan are also great, as are Bernard Hill and Miranda Otto. There are many wonderful scenes, including the Ride of the Rohirrim, Gandalf comforting Pippin during the siege on Minas Tirith, Sam showing us why he's an underrated character at the foot of Mt. Doom, and the beautiful, visually and emotionally stunning coronation scene. The real punch comes, though, at the Grey Havens, the most visually beautiful and truly heartbreaking scene I can recall in a film. To those who say that the film has too many endings, the ending comes out of the book, and the important thing is that we see the final fate of our hobbit heroes. The Trilogy would have lost focus without it. This film catapults the trilogy into my all time top 5 (exact number to be determined).
Rating: Summary: It keeps going and going and going and going ect. . . . . . Review: This is such a boring movie. It's funny though becaues the chance that the person reading this is some LotR nerd who has nothing better to do than go around and say all the 4 and below star rating weren't helpful in their purchase of the movie (even though they probably own it already) is probbly a 90% chance. I fell asleep during all three movies, and I'm a huge fiction/fantasy fan. These have to be the lamest movies ever. Read my sequel of the LotR trilogy if you want to here, http://beavisfro.tripod.com. I also left a review on MSN if you care enough to go look for it. These are the most pointless movies ever. The concept is lame, the characters are annoying, and the story is dragged out to fullest extent. The hobbits must die, and so must the old wizard guy. I guess I should mention the never-ending ending of the movie. I counted 11 more scenes after I thought the movie was going to end (when Frodo and Sam get picked up by those flying things). I could see 2 or three more scenes, but eleven did it, and that's when I started to openly make jokes at the movie in the theater. What a peice of crap movie.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: this movie is the best! i highly recommend it for anyone but small children. the battle scences are great. Elijah Wood was once more playing the inoccent hobitt on a journey. Orlando Bloome shined agian in his role of Legolas. Viggo Morteson was just bloody brillant for Aragon. As a fan of the book series, Peter Jackson was able to sew together a series that will last well over a thousend years. The special effects were exellent but in some parts a little over done. Liv Tyler and Hugo Weaving also made this movie a great film. Overall this film has it all. Romance, a journey that seems to never end, the test of a friendship and much much more! You have to see this film more then once!
Rating: Summary: WOW!! Review: This movie was fantastic. My whole family absolutely loves it, even my mum which is surprising coz she doesn't even like this kind of movie, which really surprised me. Anyway it one of the best movies of the age and really worth getting.
Rating: Summary: Simply Breathtaking Review: Give this movie a chance. sit down, let yourself be immersed into the lands of middle earth, and feel for the incredible characters (especially billy body and sean astin). ignore the hollywood hype, the stupid jokes about wizards, hobbits, elves, the commercialism of this trilogy and even the eleven academy awards (which i am very very happy about, by the way). i've heard backlash from people calling it boring, long, "gay" (frodo and sam; merry and pippin), and predictable. i didnt understand and it angered me that people would be so naive and immature about it. they say, there's a billion characters, a billion places, and nothing makes any sense. it's pointless and insignificant because its about made up people in a made up land. it's not real because nothing of it exists...nobody cares. it'a about a short guy with hairy feel who tries to destroy this little ring. if you let it, it will truly inspire you. it has the power to move and touch your heart in a way you'll never forget. watch how war, corruption, greed, and hatred destroys...and how it changes the most innocent of beings and who they become. watch true, pure, and completely unconditional love. perhaps those who didn't enjoy it doesnt know how it feels to know that you're going to lose in the end, but still finds the strength to go on. perhaps they don't know how it feels to love someone so much that you would give your life to save them. times have changed. the great legends of swords and honor and bravery have passed into the present day in which we kill for money and jealousy, in which we lie and cheat, and soldiers die far from home without a clear reason or cause. lord of the rings bring back a time when men would follow their kings into death, when friendship and brotherhood was a bond so strong and powerful, when people dont care about fame or fortune, when they lived and fought so that the peoples after them could live in peace. fairy tale, perhaps. but heartbreaking nontheless. and the story is timeless- "even darkness must pass". watch their eyes and their tears and the undying hope. THAT, my friend, is what the lord of the rings is about. you tell me nobody cares...I care. "glad to be with you, Samwise Gamgee. Here at the end of all things" - Frodo
Rating: Summary: Gran finale Review: Once more, Peter Jackson, his cast and special effects crew don't disappoint the viewer / Tolkien fan. From the beginning of the series, it seems Jackson was able to enter Tolkien's mind and bring to the big screen the beautiful and colorful Middle-Earth and its different characters. And now, the trilogy is completed. In the end, with what are we, Ring fans, left with? This third movie seems to me the apotheosis of all epic movies. Excellent acting, brilliant direction, characters we all want to be acquainted with, special effects that left me with a hanging jaw (the scene in Aragog's cave was one of the most impressive I've ever seen, the Minas Tirith battle, the oliphants, and many, many more). After watching the final scene in "The return of the king", what I find most striking is the commitment Jackson (and crew) and his actors showed from the beginning of the project. I mean, "Lord of the rings" is an epic with a huge scale, and has legions of (demanding) fans all over the world. This could be a total flop. Thank God it's not. In the end, after two years of shootings, editings and such (and two years of waiting for us, viewers) the movie trilogy of Lord of the Rings is something that will never be forgotten. Of course it's different, in some parts and aspects, from the books, but to transform a written story into a visual one is never an easy task. This Jackson did. With a touch of genious. Fantastic entertainment, this is the best part of the trilogy; those three hours passed in a flash. Grade 9.5/10
Rating: Summary: GREAT Flick...(and a word about Mr. Money-bags) Review: First, it's a no-brainer to say that "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy was great and that "The Return of the King" was the best of the 3. What does take some "brains" is to compare it to the simplistic "Star Wars" movies!!! They were pure good vs. evil, with innovative (at that time) special effects. The story, written by George Lucas, was heavily influenced by Japanese Samurai traditions and many other "mysterious" things. Don't get me wrong, I loved the first 3 "Stars Wars", ie., IV,V, and VI, but I haven't been as thrilled with the latest two. But to compare the classic "Lord of the Rings" to those stories is like comparing apples to oranges; both fruits, end of story. "Mr. Money-bags" is more of a "Mr. Wind-bag", judging from how much he likes to see his rants in print. (see, "see more about me" on the review). Maybe if we just ignore him, he will go away.
Rating: Summary: Another rag on "money-bags" Review: His "review" was most definetly some kind of joke. He could see the zipper? I have to say, I can't say more then what these wonderful people have said about this movie, but I can say that I have an insurmountable amount of respect for Andy Serkis. He worked hardest on the screen and yet was never seen, really, apart from playing young Smeagol. This was a breakthrough in technology, using electronics to morph Andy's face and movements into the creature Gollum - simply amazing. Anyway, I'd like to thank you for the funny joke, HAH HAH.
Rating: Summary: One of the best. Review: The Lord of the Rings~The Return of the King is one of the best movies ever. I saw it at a movie theather and couldn't have been happier with the ending. I reccommend that anyone who likes LOTR books should see the movies. I never read the books but I can guarrente the movie was better thn any book. TTFN
