Summary: Average; not a big mind-boggler
Review: Frequency was an average movie. It was enjoyable to watch, and I don't really have any regrets seeing it. I liked the plot of this movie because it was fun to watch on a Saturday when I had nothing else to do. It is just another movie that kills a couple hours of your time. It was simple to understand, and it didn't really leave me thinking afterwards. The only thing I don't like about this film is its perception of time and the message it conveys. It says that something that happened in the past can be changed...but this is technically impossible because it already happened. Of course, everything works out in the movie. This movie says that man can interfere with nature and get away with it. In a far, far superior movie, 12 Monkeys, a much different message is brought to the viewer. It shows the consequences of man's interference with nature and time. Also, it left me thinking afterwards because there were so many ambiguous events in the movie. It could have been interpreted in a dozen different ways. But as I said earlier, Frequency delivers none of this. It is a simple, closed-ended plot and storyline that is just a 117-minute diversion. In conclusion, watch this movie if you're looking to kill some time; not if you're looking for a chance to put you brain to work.

Summary: A fast-paced action/drama worth seeing twice in theaters!
Review: Frequency is a type of movie that has as much suspense and action as it does drama, which isn't easy to do. Many films have tried and lose the plot in the process, but, fortunately, Frequency doesn't. Some say the movie is hard to follow, well it shouldn't be if you pay attention. Dennis Quaid plays the father who died 30 years ago, which his son played by Jim Caviezel in the present ends up talking to him, via radio, in the past and they do things that changes the past which they have to correct. Seems quite a complicated plot, but the movie gives you time to catch up if you need it. The action is well done and the drama is performed superbly by Quaid and Caviezel. I highly recommend this movie too all, it probably will be in my top ten of the year. GRADE: A

Summary: The magic word is "Frequency" - and "Yahoo"
Review: This movie is both nostalgic and suspenseful, an extremely rare but effective blend. I was seriously touched by the father-son relationship in this movie, which is prominent but not overplayed. I haven't figured out all the time loops in this one (I'm not sure the writers ever did, either) but Frequency was not written for Scientific American, and the ambiguity adds to the flavor of the movie. After all, it is never explained exactly HOW a man can speak into the past 30 years, but we can accept the mystery and miracle surrounding the event. Is it a miracle? The question of the ethics of tampering with history comes into play. Whether the communication link between father and son is a blessing or a curse is not resolved until the end, a nice touch which keeps our interest, and keeps the movie from becoming predictable. The character of the father is developed well within his own time, but I wish the son's character had been explored more. There's a lot packed into this movie - it may seem a little long - but the whole package is well worth watching.

Summary: Frequency: Not what you'd expect
Review: I saw this movie yesterday with some friends. It is an excellent movie. It isn't a sci-fi flick or anything. It is the very moving story of a young cop trying to come together with his father in the past to change what has happened. This movie is very easy to get caught up in. The plot is constantly twisting, since changing the past results in changing the future. I reccomend this movie strongly, although at times it can be a little graphic in the images.

Summary: A Truely Amazing Movie of Guts, Determination, and Love.
Review: Gregory Hoblit's unabashedly sentinmetal fantasy yarn about a modern 1990's police detective, John Sullivan (James Caviezel in a star-making performance), talking to his long deceased fireman father, Frank Sullivan (an equally brillant Dennis Quaid), from 1969 through the use of an out-dated ham wave radio is extremely laughable in concept but becomes exceedingly compelling as it plays poignantly on every viewer's tender emotional wish that loved ones could survive with them through time and past death itself. The story begins with a magnificent fire-fighting sequence displaying the heroic traits of Frank Sullivan as he barely escapes death after performing a daring rescue operation that his superior's had previously deemed too dangerous. Frank's utopic family life is then shown where we meet Frank's beautiful wife Julia (Elizabeth Mitchell) and his wholesome son Johnny (Daniel Henson). Thirty years later, we now witness an adult Johnny suffering due to loss of his father in fire-fighting accident thrity years previously. The film explains that because of sun spots and rare atmospheric discharges Jon's radio can now communicate with his father exactly 30 years in the past to the day. Knowing how cliched and silly this premise sounds, Frequency works due the strength of the performances, the intensity of the movie's pacing, and the heartfelt power of the movie's central story. For anyone seeking a fantasy with passion and authentic feeling, I highly reccomend Frequency to those who enjoy a good sob story and even those who don't.

Summary: One of the best movies I've seen in a long time
Review: I usually don't spend money to see movies in the theatre, I just wait for them to come out on video. But when I saw the previews for this movie, I thought it had a very interesting plot. I don't regret for a minute going to see this movie at the theatre. It was a very heartwarming story that includes suspense, action as well as drama. Also, the song at the end by Garth Brooks is incredible. It sums up the overall feeling of this movie. I strongly reccommend seeing this movie.

Summary: Gets me all choked up :)
Review: Its something about this movie that strikes a cord in me. Maybe its how important a father, son relationship is. I'm not sure, but there are many times in this movie that i got very choked up. There aren't to many times i can say that. Forget all the question marks about the storyline and taking to someone in the past. I found it just made the movie more entertaining. Something done in the past changes the present right before your eyes. I thought that was very interesting and creative. Paradox, blah who cares, its a movie. A movie which i highly recommend.

Review: As a Firefighter, it is obvious why I wanted to see this movie. But after finding out that there are only a couple good fire scenes, I was hooked on the plot! This is an excellent movie and really makes you think.

Summary: A Must See
Review: "Frequency" is one of those rare films that has something for everyone: action, Sci-fi, romance,plot twists,everything, and it makes the viewer feel good, at the end. Dennis Quaid has shown his romantic side, and should become a very much-in-demand actor, after this film. The time thread was similar to the "Back To The Future" ideas, but was executed around a wonderful father/son relationship, and around a thriller plot involving a serial killer. Run, do not walk, to see this film, then do as I did...have Amazon e-mail me as soon as it is made available on DVD. You won't be disappointed. Mike Colwell
