Summary: A breathtaking, sweeping Disney masterpiece
Review: with its breathtaking visuals and sweeping story, "Beauty and the Beast" deserves to be at the top of the best animated films of all time, alongside "The Secret of NIMH" and "The Little Mermaid."The story and initial impact not affected by the musical sequence that Disney added in for the special 2002 release, "Beauty and the Beast" is the classic story of a beautiful, kind girl who finds a heart of gold in a hardened man whose cruelty earns him cursed to be a beast, until he can find true love before his twenty-first birthday, or he will be cursed to remain a beast for all time. The story is impeccably written and the voice actors (Paige O'Hara, Robby Benson, Angela Lansbury, etc) imbue their characters with life, spunk and character. With its gorgeous animation, incredible voice acting, solid morals and flawless story; it's not surprising that it garnered a 1991 Academy Award nomination for Best Picture and won Academy Awards for some of the songs written. My advice, see it before or when it comes out on the Platinium Edition VHS and DVD {...} to fully appreciate the love and work into creating this. If you like it, buy both the VHS and DVD. The DVD is especially to die for, because it features documentaries into "Beauty and the Beast", the original and new version of the film, both of which have been restored to their original brilliance; and other good stuff. Buy it, rent it, I don't care, but see it. It is worth the money to relive this masterpiece over and over. Worth every penny.

Review: I think this DVD will be great. Beauty and Beast is my favorite Disney movie. It came out in 1991, the year I was born. I went to see it in IMAX and I own the original version on VHS. I think that the special features will be cool! I also like the new seen "Human Again" I saw it on the IMAX. I love the show also! I can't wait until it comes out!

Summary: Beauteous.
Review: Alas, I do not own the platinum DVD edition. I only have the pewter, VHS tape edition. But a gorgeous movie is a gorgeous movie. Before this film's release, I was convinced that nothing could hold a candle to Disney's version of "Sleeping Beauty." And his production team virtually abandoned fairy stories from 1960 on, concentrating on a much more slapstick, comic avenue of films. But this movie mirrors everything that was in style with his classic fairy tales-- from a musical score as sophisticated as anything on the Broadway stage, to a stunning adaptation of the book (which enhances the will and affection of the heroine 100%), to graceful, genteel, and just plain beautiful animation. I remember being in the theater and hearing the "oohs" at the scene of Belle and the Beast in formal dress, as they dance to the title song (seen from the wonderful chandelier crane shot). This was the moment I knew I was watching something stellar. When it received a best picture Oscar nomination, I cheered right in front of the TV.

Review: I saw this movie when I was 3 years old, and it is the first movie I ever remember seeing. I am so excited for this edition, because I still watch this movie all the time at the age of 15!

Review: I have rewound the VCR tape so often, I lost count. Beauty and the Beast is a movie that you will get lost in an forget what's going on around you. It reassures you that their is always hope and love always prevails! I'm excited that they are now putting it on DVD! It took long enough!!!!

Summary: A Must-See For the Whole Family...
Review: ... but for reasons other than recreational. You see, Beauty and the Beast is the ultimate metaphor for abusive relationships. Belle, of course, has been raised in a quaint, provincial village. She thinks she knows about men ( she keeps away from Gaston, of course ) but is dragged into the Beast's dangerous game. Belle feels that it is her duty to bring out the Prince Charming in the Beast, and so agrees to stay with him and hopefully change him. The household appliances ( clock, candle ) are various symbols of the Beast's anger management problem
( the fire burning within him that makes him so beastly and the clock representing time in general ) and it goes on like that. The Forbidden West Wing represents men's power in society. The west wing is, of course, the wing from which American politics are run from. Belle, as a woman, is forbidden to go there. Eventually, however, she makes nice with the beast, deluding herself that she can indeed change him ("There's something sweet/and almost kind/but he was mean and he was coarse and unrefined ). And then there's the title song, sung by the teapot ( that boils over so frequently ). The title song includes lyrics such as, "Barely even friends/Then somebody bends/Unexpectedly". The somebody bending would be Belle, who has to change herself in order to please the Beast. The song continues with such lyrics as, "Just a little change/Small to say the least/Both a little scared/Neither one prepared/Beauty and the Beast." This represents every girl's ultimate fantasy. One little change, and suddenly she and her man are together forever in their roles assigned by society: beauty and the beast. Finally, there's,
"Tale as old as time/Song as old as rhyme/Beauty and the beast". Man has always been dominant over women in society, ever since Adam and Eve ( thus the tale as old as time would be the Holy Bible ) and the song as old as rhyme would be the "tune" every woman has to play to please her man.
Are these little "dropped hints" intentionally placed ? Well, it's up to the viewer to decide.

Summary: Excellent movie for the entire family!
Review: Can you believe it, this is 2002 and the first time I have ever viewed Beauty and the Beast. What a wonderful family movie, rates right up there with the little mermaid. My daughter mentioned this was her favorite so I broke down and purchased one. Wow, she was right this is a number one movie. I'm only sorry it has taken me this long to see it.

Summary: This is THE best Disney film ever!!!
Review: I didn't expect so much of this film when I saw it in the cinema. But it really got a place in my heart. I just love it.
The comedy in it is excellent and so is the drama.
I have two favorite scenes. "Be my guest" and when they dances in the ball room.
In this DVD they will include a whole new song and when there is a new song, a new scene will follow. It will be really exciting to get this fantastic film on DVD.
If you haven't seen this film yet, go ahead, you wont regret it.
If you are seeing one film this year, see Beauty and the Beast. If you see two films this year, see Beauty and the Beast again. and again, and again...

Summary: How Can You Not Love It!
Review: I love this movie. When i first saw Beauty and The Beast back in 1991 I fell in love with it as did many others. This is one of my favorite Disney movies. I also loved the Lion king and Aladdin. Another great feature to this movie was it's soundtrack, when I first saw this movie I couldn't help but to sing all the songs to it. I am also excited that it is coming to DVD. I have been waiting 11 years for this.

Summary: It's Beautiful
Review: It's been over seven years since I saw the movie, and last night I picked it up from my shelf again. I had not forgotten the plot or the music or the script, but I didn't really like it as a kid, but when I saw it this time, I loved it. It was because I understood more and I truly believe that this is the best Disney Classic movie of all times (nominated for six Academy Awards).
We follow the tale of Belle, who lives in a quiet village in a normal life. But one day she goes looking for her lost father, an inventor on his way to a fair with his invention, and she finds herself in a large castle with a mysterious beast. She finds out that her father had wandered his way into the castle and she exchanges her freedom to free her father. Soon, we see the beast's love for her and romance sparkle between them as time passes, with a little help of the castle servants, who have become enchanted into house hold items. The beast was a prince who's cruelty and selfishness doomed him to become a beast until he can learn to love and earn the love back, but before a magical rose stored in his bedroom start to wilt and if it does totally, he would be doomed to be a beast for all time. But if succeeds the spell would be broken.
The characters are extremly well-thought of and they keep the movie alive. We have the bad guys, one by the name of Caston, the town buff and handsome who initially likes Belle, but his personality is cruel and selfish. We have his idiotic side-kick, LaFoo as well. All this is the normal type of characters he would see nowadays in a Disney cartoon.
I'm sure nearly all of us have seen this masterpiece, and it's worth picking it up again!
