Summary: A Christmas turkey, if you will excuse the pun.
Review: If you are a conneuisseur of bad movies, then this one's for you. Dudley Moore, a fine Brit actor, is totally wasted(must have been the money) as an elf who leaves Santa's workshop and gets sucked in by an evil, corrupt toymaker BZ(played by John Lithgow of THIRD ROCK FROM THE SUN fame!) who wants to commercialise Christmas for his own ends. Well, this bit sounds familiar, note the media tycoons who hype parents into beating each other up over the hottest toys(Ho-ho-ho)(Oh dear, groan, bad joke). One could say that was one of the movie's merits, being ahead of its time! I give it two stars also because it is a very colourful film for young children who don't have half a brain to realise that Tim Allen's recent THE SANTA CLAUSE is far more enjoyable and answers more questions about kid's interests in Santa Claus at that time of the year . . . Never mind. And I thought MYSTERY MEN sucked . . .

Summary: Maybe the Kid's Won't Notice It's A Coca Cola Commercial
Review: More for the kid's than for adults. Hopefully the DVD version will have a better picture. When the little rich girl takes a plate of food out to the orphan and carefully sets down a can of Coca Cola, I expected the white polar bear puppets to make an appearance. But remember, this is for kids--and they really seemed to enjoy this film. Performances are broad enough and the movie is colorful enough to hold the attention of the very young.

Summary: Santa Claus: The Movie
Review: My family and I love this movie. It has humour, suspense, tenderness, a whole gambit of emotions, and puts Christmas in a good respective about giving and receiving. The beginning gives a nice explanation of how Santa Claus came about, and the later half is light hearted and funny much of the time. And for a 1985 movie the special effects aren't all that bad!

Summary: MAGICAL
Review: My partner and I think this is one of the most wonderful Christmas films ever made. The Santa is so believable, in looks, voice, size and smile.

The only problem for us is that it is only available in USA and Canada format on video.

Us poor "BRITS" would also like to own the video.....come on guys, there is an incredible market here.......GIVE US A UK FORMAT VIDEO! .

Merry Christmas, and a very happy Millennium to all our readers!

Simon.

Summary: One of those great Christmas classics that you gotta watch!
Review: Since I saw this in theaters when I was a kid it has become a Christmas classic for me! There are two great films to show your kids to explain Santa Claus, this film, and the Rankin and Bass classic Santa Claus is Coming to Town! Both films give a great explanation of how Santa became Santa, with an engaging plot thrown in to boot! Both are necessities! Along with Rudolph, the oringinal and the Live Action Grinch, and tons of others you can find on my Christmas favorites lists here on Amazon. Anyway, this one opens with the story of Santa's origins, introduces Dudley Moore as a misfit elf along the way (sort of a take on Rudolph, without the abuse from the peers), and expands to include two children from different sides of the track and an evil, scheming toy maker reminiscent of Dan Ackroyd's old SNL character. The characters are great, the story is fun and the budget is big! This is a great Christmas classic for the whole family! I'm looking forward to picking up the DVD next Christmas, as the VHS copy is shamefully bad!

Summary: I watch this movie every year on tape without fail.
Review: Since the release of this movie, I watch the tape of it every year without fail. I think it has been written and acted out in a very realistic way.

Summary: Fantasy Greatness
Review: St. Nick is threatened by corparate greed when a rengade elf begins making toys for a greedy tycoon. Great underdog fantasy for younger holiday viewers.

Summary: wonderful way of explaining Santa Claus to young children
Review: The first part of this movie is magical as an explanation of how Santa Claus came to be a legend. All of the stories about Santa, why his suit is red, how all the toys get made, etc are artfully used. The second part of the movie sadly deteriorates as time moves to the present. I have watched this video with my handicapped son who remains childlike as an adult for many years and it is one of the loveliest things about our Christmas.

Summary: Best Santa Ever!
Review: The man who plays Santa in this movie is the cutest, sweetest, most magical Santa Claus ever captured on film. I swear to this day...this man IS the real Santa. They could not have done a better job in casting this film. I get goosebumps every time they show Santa take off in the sleigh for the first time. Outstanding movie!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Top film!
Review: The most essential part of my families christmas plans, barring presents and food, is to sit down and watch this film. The film itself contains so many unusual elements which inspire the "christmas feeling" throughout my family. It really is a magical film.
