Summary: Well-written, clever, unexplained plot!
Review: Why he's trapped forever in the same day is never explained, but it really doesn't matter in the end! This was a fun film, and I especially liked the progression regarding Phil Connor's approach toward dealing with his permanently living the same day over & over. First, he can't believe it, then he cynically tries to take advantage of it, before falling into despair, and finally lifting himself above it all. It's both an enjoyable and satisfying experience to witness his "rebirth" as a human being, although it's really not any kind of serious film! Bill Murray is perfectly cast, although I'd have rather seen someone like Meg Ryan in the female lead, instead of Andie McDowell. But that's just me.

Summary: Watch it When You're Depressed
Review: This movie is definitely an "upper". It's one of those rare movies that can be watched over and over, and still seem fresh. Bill Murray is terrific - probably the best he's ever been. Awesome!

Summary: Hilarious post-holiday pick-me up feel good entertainment!
Review: The concept of reliving one particular day in your life until you reach perfection (or what you think is perfection) is very intriguing to me. This is one of many reasons I enjoy this film so much. Murray's comedic timing reminds me of Cary Grant. Murray does sarcasm to perfection.

Summary: Fun movie with "meaning"
Review: This movies has a guy trying to get a girl, car chases, explosions, cute animals, great music, etc.

It also shows that if the meanings we give life are artificial they still matter. As well as the value of doing the best with what life's given you.

Should be watched by all existentialists & science fiction fans too, I say. Everyone else too. You won't learn a thing if you don't want to. Well, maybe a little.

Summary: amusing, philophical, and a little redundant...
Review: The movie may be redundant but it still keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting for Phil Conners to woo his unlikely, undeserved soulmate, played by McDowell. The cabin fever he gets from daily groundhog sightings are hilarious; it's going to be a long winter for Murray in this one. In the middle of a long session of grooming himself for Rita, Phil is also forced to mingle with the all the locals like"Ned-the- Needle-Nosed-annoyence, Nancy the fiancee, and the "sweet old woman" running the quaint little bording house. The film, part slapstick with a little black comedy mixed in, also has daily doses of Sonny and Cher...Director Ramis plays with our minds. We feel Phil's pain as he tries, gets frustrated, and trades his apathetic stripes for Rita's approval. I loved it. We shake our heads with the Bartender (appropriately) and still hope he wins over Rita. Check it out. It puts deja vu in a whole new perspective. Just ask the kitchen staff.

Summary: It's A Wonderful Life -- upside down!
Review: Think about it: "Groundhog Day" and "It's A Wonderful Life" are actually the same film. They are both about appreciating the incredible gift of life. The only difference is that in IAWL everybody changes except Jimmy Stewart; in GD, everybody stays the same except Bill Murray. The moral: Only by learning to truly love others can we find happiness in our own lives. This is a zen movie. Harold Ramis -- you the man!

Summary: Suprisingly innovative time travel (or lack thereof) movie!
Review: How can you keep from loving a movie that can take a person living the same day over and over again and make it an edge-of-your-seat, what-can-possibly-happen-next kind of film?

Ramis should be recognized as a true genius for his ability to develop this wonderfully innovative story line into a full length feature film. I say this because I expected Ground Hog Day (GHD) to become repetitious, and it never does, except where the repetition is an integral part of the gag.

Further, the movie has a beautiful spiritual overtone to it: we watch Murray's character, Phil Collins, unfold as he learns to handle the immortality of Soul. GHD has chronicled the stages of man as he evolves from ignorant bliss to living with pure love in the moment! This movie should be required viewing for psychology students.

Unlike other Murray films (who seems to be cast in these kinds of spiritual roles), the spiritual treatment of GHD never gets manic (like the end of Scrooged), or into some really heavy moments (like The Razor's Edge). Whether this welcome change reflects Murray's growth or that of the writers is something only they know, but I like it.

The Razor's Edge is one of my favorites too because of it's deep spiritual message, but not one that I'd watch with any one at any time as I would with GHD. In fact, the biggest "problem" I have with GHD is that I find myself watching it over and over and over...

I suspect that you will too!

Summary: A Great Movie
Review: When I first saw that movie, I thought that I really had to get it on VHS. Since I got it, I've seen it many times and I always still think it's just great! I guess the fact that you can follow the way someone goes by trial and error is the main attraction in that movie, that's what makes this movie so great!

Summary: In Bill We Trust...
Review: Well , without Bill Murray , "Groundhog day" would be a sweet movie with a lot of good ideas and the lovable Andy McDowell. With Bill Murray , it becomes one of the best comedies made in the 90's , each scene is pure pleasure and this movie represents the perfect frame for his talent. Maybe his best role , with "Ghostbusters" , and "Scrooged"

Summary: FOR AN HONEST OPINION, READ THIS
Review: Fantastic, amazing, brilliant, clever and entertaining. This video had me in stitches throughout. After all seeing many trashy films this was a refreshing change. Sometimes I feel like I want to relive one of my own days over and over again and I think of this movie and wish. Great acting, great script and generally errr....Great. What else is there to say CLASSIC!
