Summary: It's Two Hours of Deja Vu
Review: Harold Ramis directs his pal Bill Murray in this comedy about an egotistical weather reporter named Phil who gets stuck in a time warp in Punxsutawney, PA. Every day, it's Groundhog Day. You might think the film is nothing more than a gimmick, but each time certain events recur, there is renewed freshness. Interestingly, even though his character is obnoxious, Murray manages to evoke sympathy with his character's plight. As Phil learns the pros and cons of his situation, so do we, until finally we all learn a valuable lesson. One minor flaw with the movie is the uneven script. Most of the humor is evident in the first third of the movie, when Phil insults just about everyone in sight. By the end, he is a changed man, and the movie seems to take on a little dramatic preachiness instead of simply intelligent comedy. Still, this film got Hollywood to notice Ramis' talents as writer AND director.

Review: A great movie. I've seen it over a dozen times. I love the plot... an arrogant guy who gets the chance to find out the tru meaning of life... to "Live everyday to the fullest. It is so cute seeing Bill Murry become a honest descent person. I highly recommend this movie!!!

Review: This is a movie that seems to get better each time I see it and I'm sure I've seen it over 20 times. I poke fun at people who watch the same movie more than once and cannot get enough of Phil, Rita, and Phil, the big rat. Bill Murray says this film is special. Folks, it is pure magic.

Summary: One of Bill Murrays funniest movies!
Review: Groundhog Day VHS~ Andie MacDowell, Bill Murray et al. is a hysterical movie about a TV reporter whom is stuck in the same day over and over. When he goes on the suicide binge, i.e., jumping from the building, sitting in the bath with an electric toaster; these scenes in themselves are definite classics. My favorite scene in the entire movie is when he has kidnapped the groundhog and they are driving the pickup together; in this scene he, i.e., Murray says the following to the groundhog " never drive angry". I thought this was hilariously funny. It does not hurt that the love interest is Andie MacDowell; a woman whom I find to be very attractive on so many levels, e.g., she has beautiful hair and a face that is carved out of stone (like a roman statue).

Review: Laughter and Romance are the key elements here in this intelligently directed film by Harold Ramis, where a weather man (Bill Murray) is able to turn his life around for the better and how he wins the heart of his co-worker (Andie MacDowell) and the people of a small town whose lives he is able to make better. See this movie with someone you love.

Review: This is a movie everyone can relate to. It's a story about life. A story about a man who has to find himself before he can escape into tomorrow. It makes you laugh and cry all at the same time. You can watch this movie a hundred times and still find things you missed before. Whether you have seen this movie or not you must own it.

Summary: Grows on you
Review: This movie is great stuff. In it, Bill Murray plays a misanthropic weatherman who gets stuck in a time loop, and keeps on waking up every morning in Punxatawney Pennsylvania on February 2nd. He is funny, but still basically a jerk (a funny jerk) for about the first half of the movie. Eventually, it seems to start to sink in that he is in this little town for keeps, and he may as well appreciate what it has to offer, and what he might have to offer it. Gradually, he starts to actually value life for the first time ever. He learns to play a mean jazz piano; ice sculpting; auto mechanics; basic medical skills, etc. etc. etc. He ends up "getting the girl" in the end, but that isn't exactly the point, I don't think. First he has to learn to see what is beautiful or valuable in the world around him, as well as inside himself, and to act upon that understanding, before he is even seen as a human being by the people around him. This movie has heart, and really makes you wake up and see the world in a different, better light. I paid this movie the ultimate, and most appropriate compliment after I bought the tape -- after I saw it the first time, I just rewound it, and immediately watched it again.

Summary: One of Bill Murray's best
Review: In a time when so many "comedies" are front loaded with their best material and then weakly trail off, this film is a good example of how a movie can start off hilariously then proceed to get funnier and funnier as it goes along! The supporting cast does a fine job, but this film is essentially a Bill Murray showcase. Watching his character Phil's various approaches to the bizarre Twilight Zone episode he finds himself in is not only funny but at times very insightful. After periods ranging from taking advantage of the situation to suicidal despair, Phil finally decides to start working on himself. When his diligent efforts at self improvement make him the toast of the town that he initially hated but has since come to love, the once unattainable goal of getting the girl of his dreams becomes virtually effortless. It's a rare film indeed that can be so highly entertaining while driving home such an important point. Bravo to Bill Murray and also to Harold Ramis for his excellent directing of a highly original film.
