Summary: This is my Favorite Bill Murray Movie!
Review: This movie is my favorite Bill Murray movie. It has everything: laughs, touching moments, sadness, and a great plot! Bill Murray as Phil Conners, a TV weatherman out to cover the Groundhog Day festival keeps reliving the same day over, and over and over again. And it's always Groundhog Day. Andie MacDowell is beautiful as Rita, Phil's producer, who Phil falls in love with after trying to get his act together day after day after day. Chris Elliot is also funny as TV cameraman Larry. A romantic comedy of the first order! Great to watch on a rainy day. Best comedy scene: Watch the Groundhog drive the pickup truck with Phil! Funny!

Summary: Spend your time seeing something else!
Review: Let me start by saying I'm a Bill Murray fan. I've been watching him since his great days on Saturday Night Live. With that said, this film has to be the worst I have seen during my stay on this planet! They took a good plot and slaughtered it. If the rating system allowed zero stars, I would have exercised it here. My wife and I watched this, dilly of dull, film together and could hardly keep our eyes open. This wasn't due to fatigue but rather the monotonous, monotone, stodgy way it DRAGGED on and on. As for the other reviewers who viewed this film more than once... I say, there's time lost you will NEVER get back. Get a life!

Summary: A surprise.
Review: I am not a Bill Murray fan. For the most part he plays the same cynical character each time. That's why I never bothered with this film. But in a moment of boredom, I watched it. What a pleasant surprise.

Great movie? No. But much better than some romantic comedies that enjoyed more publicity (think "Runaway Bride"). It was fun to watch Murray's character evolve in this movie. It was fun to see the various ways he chose to make use of the repeat of the day. Of course, being stuck day after day with Andie McDowell is no bad deal.

Anyway, it was a good movie afterall. Just a good, fun movie.

Summary: Completely Brilliant! , a timeless classic
Review: Arrogant and self centred TV weatherman Phil Connors is given a chance to fundamentally change himself in this reworked and updated version of Dickens a Christmas Carol.

What would you do if you had the gift (or more likely the curse) of immortality but were condemned to spend it in the same tiny provincial town and to re-live the events of one isolated day? Phil goes through the whole spectrum of emotions as he tries to come to terms with his unique predicament. Frustration, anger and rock bottom despair. Eventually he comes to accept his lot and starts to enthusiastically indulge himself in a completely selfish manner. He tries desperately to seduce Rita his producer, but she always manages to see through his veneer of pleasantness to the ugly character underneath. Its hard not to be moved by Phil's despair when the Ray Charles track 'You don't know me' is played. Much much later on he stops thinking of himself and begins unselfishly to help the townspeople through their day. As in life we reap what we sow, and Phil is eventually rewarded for his new found humanity.

Groundhog Day is a truly great film and it works on many levels, as a black comedy, a love story, and a spiritual journey. It's one of those rare films that you can watch over and over and still feel it's impact. Bill Murray deserved an Oscar for his performance and the supporting cast were totally solid too. I defy anyone to see the Ned Ryerson character (needle nose Ned, Ned the head) and not feel the urge to damage him in some way. Buy this classic film and enjoy it forever.

Summary: Groundhog Day - A LAUGH OUT LOUD RIOT!
Review: This movie is hysterical! It's the type of comedy you can watch numerous times, and STILL find hysterical! Bill Murray excells in his role of the bored, sarcastic weatherman sent to cover the yearly Groundhog festival in Punxsutawney, Pa. In the movie, Murray is forced, by some unexplained glitch in the cosmos, to relive the VERY WORST day of his life, over and over and over again! The laughs in this romantic, comedy/ fantasy never seem to stop, and the ending is a happy one, leaving you wanting to replay this movie OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN! I DEFINITELY recommend it! No Movie collection would be complete without it!

Summary: An outstanding movie, both funny and profound!
Review: I have watched this movie multiple times, and there is always something more to gain from it. Great philosophical insights embedded in terrific humor. Bill Murray at his best!

Summary: Me TOO
Review: Well, I loved it too. And I too can't believe that it hasn't been recognized as one of the finest comedies ever made. I'm also surprised that no-one has put it in the same category with "Joe vs the Volcano," another terribly under-rated comedy with a very subtle sub-text.

I find myself coming up the stairs at work humming "I got you babe . . ." each and every morning.
