Summary: This is my life
Review: Okay, so I'm neither a man nor a weather-forecaster. Still, the first time I saw this movie back in the 80's, I knew it was about my life. Back in those days, I couldn't understand why nothing was going the way I thought it should, no matter how hard I tried to bend and twist my will and that of others to fit my plan. Ah, the ego - it is a marvelous misconception.

Our hero, Phil Connor (Bill Murray), has enough ego to choke - well, certainly to choke any interest the lovely Andie MacDowell might have in him when they end up trapped in a small town in the middle of a blizzard, on GroundHog Day.

For her, it's a one day event. Heck, for everyone but Phil, it's a one day event. But Phil - well, Phil wakes up again and again to the sound of "I've Got You Babe" - same day, same people and the only way things change is when Phil's behavior changes.

Unfortunately for Phil, but fortunately for those of us watching this movie, it takes him several wake-up calls before he gets it. I've tried figuring out how many years these repeated days add up to - but I can't and it doesn't really matter.

Some of us learn slowly, and when we are in the midst of 'getting it', this movie is a comfort. We're not the only ones! There's hope!

An under-appreciated movie, and Bill Murray is the perfect star. He manages to be obnoxious and unlikeable in the beginning, and even if you don't like his style much (I really am not a Bill Murray fan), you end up liking the guy in the end. This is a great movie to watch when you're feeling down, stuck in life, and need some hope and encouragement.

Summary: FUNNY
Review: I never got to catch this movie in the theather or cable. Only on regular tv. After seeing it on in it's how it was meant to be presented I love Groundhog Day ten times more. Funny! Hurt your belly funny. Easy one of my favorite Bill Murry Movies. There aren't a lot of DVD special features on the disk, but the clarity of the movie is really the only thing that matters here. And that is excellent. A must have for the collection if you are ever up at 2am and want a laugh.

Summary: Does he see his shadow? I'll never tell.
Review: Someone recently complained to me that they didn't like this film because it "was kind of like the same thing over and over and over again." Isn't that the point?

Weatherman Bill Murray finds himself re-living Groundhog Day over and over and over again. In a part written for Murray's wonderful comedic talent, he gets bored and the viewer gets to enjoy the many and varied ways that Murray tries to do himself in. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending upon how you look at it, he awakes the next day to find that it's the same day all over again.

Murray is joined by co-anchor Andie MacDowell (a mediocre actress who does a convincing job in this film)and eventually falls in love with her. His attempts to make her love him fail as well.

Will he ever live the day just right...right enough so that when he wakes up it's tomorrow? You'll have to watch it to find out.

This is a simple, yet clever and fun film. Don't go into it expecting too much and you'll enjoy it through and through.

Summary: My personal favorite Romantic Comedy
Review: What would you do if you lived forever? How about if you just lived the same day, over-and over? This is the premise for the brilliantly done "Groundhog Day."

Phil (Bill Murray), a disenchanted Television Weatherman, finds himself stuck once again, in Puxatawny (sp?)PA on Groundhog's Day. Only this year he gets more than he bargains for. For whatever reason (not very important), Murray wakes up every morning to find it is Groundhog Day again. During his single day of life, Phil falls in love with Andie MacDowell, who of course wants nothing to do with the shallow, self-centered Phil.

In the end, Phil realizes that orchestrating a love affair with MacDowell is not going to work. It is then that he begins to grow as a person and becomes quite likeable.

I enjoy this movie very much and watch it several times a year. More movies should be made like this.

Summary: Well done DVD for a minor film
Review: This movie is one of my favorite romantic comedies. What would you do if you were immortal? Another twist, what would you do if your actions had no lasting consequences? I found no problem with the color fidelity on the DVD, although I did see some scratches and blotches, but I've seen worse. Since this movie isn't about the cinematography, this isn't a major problem. For a relatively minor film the DVD is very good. The DVD has no extras and the subtitles were not verbatim.

Summary: Great plot, great philosophy, great comedy
Review: Bill Murray plays a not too sympathetic TV weatherman who's suddenly stuck in a snowy town he hates to be in. He's stuck there because he wakes up morning after morning at 6 a.m. to the same day, February 2, Groundhog Day.

He just can't escape, he's there, in the same place, whereas everybody else live through this February 2 for the first time.

He experiments with this life of his. He tries to be evil, tries to be over-good, tries not to care, tries to care too much, tries to commit suicide in all possible ways.

Until he decides to live. To exploit all the positive and creative possibilities of living and not growing older and not having people blame or praise him for what he did yesterday (today!).

An interesting philosophical experiment, more intense than other movies that play with similar thoughts.

Summary: Classic Murray.
Review: When my friends and I saw this in the theatre we couldn't stop laughing. A great comedy, truly a classic. Bill Murray is at his best here with great acting, directing and screenplay. If you don't like dark humor you may want to pass on this one, but I'd recommend seeing it. It's a must have for any film collector.

Summary: The Best of Bill
Review: Hey, so this flic is "Popular in: Wheaton, IL", my home town! I felt so bad about dissing Bill so roundly for The Razor's Edge, I had to log back on and do this. I don't know if this qualifies as one of Siskel and Ebert's "guilty pleasures", but I simply adore this movie. I've seen it so many times, and I still chortle all the way through. I'm glad it's becoming a holiday classic. Bill, the big lug, is pitch perfect as the pompous doofus who finally gets it right. Andie McDowell is charming, and even that highly grating jackass Chris Elliott is sufferable.

Summary: A comedy classic!
Review: How could anyone not enjoy this movie? I start laughing just thinking about it! This movie is definitely one to own - I have seen this movie many times, and it has never gotten old. Bill Murray at his best.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: watched it over and over and over
Review: This movie is SO funny! I've seen it as many times as there are groundhog days in the movie. You can see the progression of Murray's character, too, as he moves from shallow and sarcastic to deeper and more caring. Nothing but thumbs up.
