Summary: Great Restoration
Review: "Yellow Submarine" is very late 60's, and interesting. What I found most interesting was the terrific restoration job done on the DVD. They took a so-so mono soundtrack, cleaned it up and turned it into a full 5.1 Dolby Digital. The video has also been cleaned up.

I was also impressed at the number of listening options they offer. You can watch the movie with the Dolby 5.1 soundtrack, with the original mono soundtrack, with the director's commentary or, best of all, with just the music. When you select that option the dialog is removed and you hear only the incidental music and the Beatle's songs in the film and you hear it in 5.1 surround.

They didn't neglect the .1 channel, BTW. I had to turn down my sub because it was shaking the walls!

Summary: I love this movie!
Review: I grew up with the Beatles, and I love their music more than any other artists'. When I was four my father showed me "Yellow Submarine," and though I have to admit that it was awfully trippy for a young child to watch, I still love it. The animation is so unique, and I think it is beautiful to see the sixties kept alive by such a colorful film as this. It is a bit too acid-like to show really young children; the effects and some dialogue would make it hard for them to understand what was going on. However, I would say that you could never be too old to enjoy this movie. It is very origional, and entertaining, and written with a lot of humor. Oh, and of course, the music. In fact, the only complaint that I have about the new edition of this movie is that the sound quality on the songs seems to have greatly declined. I know that everything was digitally remastered, and the visual effects benifitted greatly, but the songs seemed almost lke they had been hollowed out. The music is the best part of the film, and the only part wherein you are hearing the Beatle's real voices, other than their cameo at the end. Overall, though, I was extremely happy when the film was re-released, and even though the music suffered on the film, I can listen to the CD if I want to enjoy the music, untampered with.

Summary: Yet Another Classic
Review: Simply put, this is a timeless celebration of all that the Beatles encompass...music, joy, wit, brilliance, innocence, confusion, meaning, peace and immortality. Just one more way for them to shine on - beautifully.

Summary: I loved this Movie!
Review: I got this movie for myself last Christmas and it brought back happy memories I associate with listening to Beatles music. The quality of the picture is excellent and the digital sound makes the music sound like you are in the studio with the Fab Four! Very amusing, with funny cartoon characters and a cool psychedelic feel to it!

Summary: It's somthing very special...
Review: Being a huge Beatles fan i was excited to finally get to see this film. I was not disappointed. Granted, it may be a little weird to watch the first go around for those people who have been brought up to believe that watching any animated movie that's not Walt Disney is wrong. Don't expect a movie along the lines of The Lion King or Aladdin cause you won't get it. Don't ask too many questions either because by the time you come up with answers, the movie is over. Just sit back, enjoy it, and by all means, don't take it so seriously.

Summary: Better than ever before!
Review: The Beatles are the absolute best band in the world and their best songs are in this video. It's my all time favorite Beatles movie. It seems that the ninety's have turned kind of psychedelic, and I love it.

Summary: Greatest Child (and Grown Up) Movie Ever
Review: This movie is magical. You can watch it again and again. The animation is superb, the music is excellent, and it's really funny! Lots of visual puns. The guys who made it had lots of fun doing it, and it shows. Its a positive message too: all you need is love. It's a children's movie, it's an adult's movie, it's a classic that stands alone.
