Summary: Be careful what you wish for. You just might GET it.
Review: A well-done DBZ movie has cool moments, major power conflicts, a neat main villain, and beats on the main characters a lot. This one delivers. Cooler, brother to psychotic supervillain Freezer (yes, all of Toriyama-sensei's names are like that) comes to challenge the upstart "monkey" (as his people call Saiyajin) who defeated his little brother.

Cooler is, well, cooler than his brother was. He sounds the same and looks quite similar, but he's MUCH tougher and meaner. He saw Goku's capsule escape the destruction of Vegita-sei at Freezer's hands years ago, but didn't intercept, saying it was Freezer's own problem. Cooler clearly outmatches Goku on every level, but won't kill him immediately because he knows that what he's seeing isn't what could defeat his brother. He insists on seeing the Super-Saiyajin transformation, and will push Goku until he gets it. Which, of course, he does.

This makes an excellent double-bill with "Return of Cooler" (Japanese title translates more to "Attack of a Billion Power Warriors" or something of that nature), where Cooler gets a return match.

Summary: Cooler's Revenge AKA The Best of the Strongest vs Strongest
Review: Cooler's Revenge AKA The Best of the Strongest vs Strongest this is a great movie I've only seen it in Jap so far but I think that Funimation will do a good job. I really wish that Pionneer would do all the movies so it will be like watching it in Jap with all the cursing and swearing but they would be talking in English. I just bought movies 1 and 2 (Dead Zone, and Worlds Strongest) Uncut and Pionneer did the dubbing and they had all the swearing and on Dead Zone it had a cut beggining it was really cool. This movie will well worth your money the fight scenes are great and it has probabbly the best Movie Plot. If you haven't pre ordered it yet DO IT after you read this review it is one of the great DBZ Movies.

Summary: a fine waste of money
Review: DBZ, GAG! don't waste your money on anything with the title Dragon Ball Z. Go spend your money on a decent series like Trigun or Cowboy Bebop. I only gave it one star because it didn't have a zero stars option.

Summary: One of the best dbz films I have ever seen
Review: Does anybody remember when Goku fired his kao-ken times 4 kamehameha wave at vegeta and both thier beams clashed ?Does anybodey remember a couple years a go when they showed the freiza saga for the first time . Remember whaen Goku went super saiyan for the first time . Ah those days were great . These newer buu eppisodes have been lacking what made those old eppisodes so great . But then came Coolers Revenge, a great dbz DVD I was taken back to those times when I watched it , buy Coolers revenge . Even the english version was good ! My favorite scene was when cooler transformes and goku fires a kamehameha wave at him . Cooler jumps up and plows right through it . He was like swimming in it up to Goku ! The special effects were great . In the scene I described above the kamehameha beam glowing with these cool computer effects . This is the best dbz film I have seen yet . The backround music was a very nice touch . I look forward to the seconed cooler film . I hope funimation dose as good a job on that feature as they did this one .

Summary: Tight Movie! Cooler's Revenge Rocks!
Review: First of all this is one of the tighest movies I ever saw for DragonballZ. Well this movie takes place on earth where you see Goku training. Then he is going camping which is ruined by Cooler, who is Frieza's brother. Goku and everyone has to fight him and his goons. But I better stop talking or I might just ruin the Movie. The Music was cool too, I would give it a 8 out of 10.The fight scenes were cool also. This movie really gets you into it. It has action, humor, and cool music. A must buy for any DBZ fan who wants to see a good DBZ movie.

Summary: An excellent Dragonball Z film
Review: For those of you who don't know, alongside the standard Dragonball Z series, 13 movies, 2 specials, and 1 OVA/OAV were released. Most of these were strictly for entertainment, as there is no way most of them could possibly have taken place. Also, none of them are very long (they are about the same length as 2-3 standard episodes.) Read on for my review of Cooler's Revenge, the fifth Dragonball Z movie.

SETTING: This movie occurs during the three-year training period between the Frieza and Cell sagas.

STORY: It's a peaceful time on Earth. But in Dragonball Z (the movies in particular), peace just doesn't last. A crew of fighters from space arrives on earth, led by none other than Cooler, brother of Frieza. He announces that he is here to wipe out the remnants of the Saiyan race - something his brother failed to do. Before long, a heated battle is going, one of the most intense ones the Z Fighters have seen yet.

DID IT HAPPPEN?: This film could never have occured. Haiya Dragon (Icarus in the dub) appears, but he was introduced in Tree Of Might, a film that could never have occured, therefore this movie is automatically rendered false. Likewise, the only time this movie could have occured is during the LATTER half of the three years since Vegeta is obviously gone, training in space, but for being the latter half, Goku is SEVERELY underpowered. I thought he learned how to control Super Saiyan transformations when he was on Yardrat! Oh, well. The movies are strictly for entertainment.

WORTHWHILE?: This isn't a great film, but it IS one of the better ones. Fans of Frieza are going to love Cooler. However, there's really nothing to make this (or most of the films) stand out above the rest.

MISC.: As in your typical Dragonball Z DVD, there are virtually NO EXTRAS. And, of course, some scenes are mistranslated (Japanese is a VERY DIFFICULT language to translate, so some of this is forgivable.)

OVERALL: A good film, but really only recommended to fans of the series.

Summary: this is a really cool movie
Review: i actually havent bought this movie but i have the original copy of it from japan. there is a boring part of the movie but there are some really cool fight scenes. i suggest if you get the dvd version, only watch it with the japan language on because funimation does a really bad job on the voices and music for the movies. no offense. if you really want to get it, get it for your collection. It is not worth the 21 dollars from here. get it at best buy where it is only 15 dollars. hope this info helps you decide.

Summary: A little bet of a letdown.
Review: I don't believe Dragonball Z is very well suited to the limited running time of movies. DBZ is much better suited to the series where it has more time to develop the characters and create tension.
This movie seemed even more predictable than the other ones, but I think the main problem was the short length of the battles especially the one with Gohan on his way to deliver the Sensu beans and the final fight. Granted given the characters it makes sense that the battles weren't allowed to go on longer, but there wasn't enough tension built up throughout the movie.
Concerning the soundtrack, how lame. The only time the heavey metal or whatever ... it is worked was with the History of Trunks, the other times it's just been stupid.
All that being said I don't even think I would consider an essential viewing for a DBZ fan like most of the other movies I would.

Summary: Japanese language DBZ fans stay away.
Review: I had already seen this movie on a fan subbed computer file, so I knew the actual movie was good. What I didn't expect was what an atrocious job Funimation did at transposing the original Japanese version to DVD. To start off, there is NO sound coming from the Japanese audio track for the first four minutes (the set up part before the movie starts) or for the outro/credits. Secondly, the Japanese language is not even close to being directly translated. Instead they seemed to have just made up their own dialog altogether. There are several instances where there is no actual talking on screen, yet the subs pop up with this inane "westernized" dialog. I'm guessing that instead of actually translating the Japanese, the subtitler just typed word for word the english dialog track. If you are somebody who likes the english dubbed version then you might as well save yourself a few bucks and get the edited english dubbed only version. If you are a fan of the original Japanese series and not the homogenized/westernized version shown on the Cartoon Network, I would urge you to find the fan sub of this movie.

Review: I have not seen the movie, but I know that if you buy the video
you get 3 cards for the Dragonball Z card game.
