Rating: Summary: MEWTWO [DOMINATES] IN ITS NEW SEQUAL! Review: I got this movie the first day it came out! I was dying to know what happend to Mewtwo! It's the best movie I have ever seen besides Spaceballs. The storyline is great!! In the first movie, Mewtwo erased everyones' memory but forgot to erase Giovanni's memory. Now Giovanni found out where Mewtwo is and wants it to work for him again! The music is good! It's somewhat the same as the first movie's music. Great animation! The only thing wrong is that the movie had some errors. How does Ninetails swim across the lake when it's a fire type?! Mewtwo and Pikachu are my favorites and this movie has both! This is a must for pokemon fans like me!
Rating: Summary: What? No Pikachu mini-movie? Review: Though many assume that this was a movie that went directly to video, Mewtwo Returns is actually a special that was shown on Japanese TV a year or so ago. Basically, at the end of Mewtwo Strikes Back, Mewtwo made everyone forget about him and the events that took place on his island... except for the one who funded his creation, Team Rocket leader Giovanni. After a quick recap, we find that Mewtwo and the clones has settled down on a remote mountain lake in the middle of the Johto region and that Giovanni has tracked him down. As you might expect, Ash and company are in the same area, along with Jessie, James and Meowth. Through a series of events, they all find themselves trying to save Mewtwo and the clones from the clutches of Giovanni and an elite Rocket member, Domino. Visually, this is brighter and sharper than the other movies or episodes. The animation is very good, even with the occasional glitch. The sound is ok, but the music, which was taken from the first movie, has a lot of obvious edits in it. If you were expecting a huge, all-out battle between Mewtwo and Giovanni, you'd be mistaken. The action in this movie is rather tame compared to previous movies. The focus in this movie is more on the brooding Mewtwo and his trying to figure out what his purpose in life is. Older anime fans will love the more mature tastes of this movie (and recent episodes of the series), though younger fans might get bored with it. The DVD has the opening for the latest season of the show, as well as trailers for the last three movies. But true Pokemon fans will gobble up the best feature of the DVD; the uncut version of Mewtwo's Origin. This is really the first ten minutes of Mewtwo Strikes Back that was cut out of the US version, which delves deeper into Mewtwo's cloning and the true reason he was so angry in the first movie. This section of the DVD is shown in widescreen, which is a huge plus. Audio commentary is missed, but it really doesn't detract much from the DVD. Overall, this is highly recommended for Pokemon fans, and even more recommended to win over people who believe Pokemon is just for toddlers.
Rating: Summary: Good way to tie up the loose ends. Review: I enjoyed this story because it was only a few minutes over an hour. It was something that you could rent if you had a free afternoon or buy if you were a big pokemon fan. The story, like I said, it short and sweet. Of course if you are really just a fanatic of the show then there is no reason to actually see this movie, or any of the movies for that matter, because the movies do not ever reflect on the story line of the show. If you've seen the second Pokemon movie you would know this. (Here's a way of proving it: Ash saw Articuno in the second movie which took place in the orange islands, but during the season of Johto League Champions there was a mini series about Articuno and Ash claims he's NEVER seen one and wants to catch one.)Anyway the movie is a good. There isn't any fighting of pokemon, though I know that is what we all really just want to see! Oh and by the way the does DVD provides you with a little more info on why Mewtwo was the way he was in the first movie and why the way he is in this movie.
Rating: Summary: One of the better pokemon movies Review: This was a straight foward storyline with Giovanni plotting to recapture mewtwo. Not many real battles in the movie, although some scenes are quite intensly drawn and that kinda makes up for it. Overall a good addition to the pokemon saga.
Rating: Summary: What?!?! Review: As soon as I saw this was coming to video, I had to have it! heh yeah right! It's good Mewtwo Returns saves the world with Ash Brock and Misty's help. As usual Giovonni's trying to get Mewtwo again so he can rule the world...again! It ends happy. But the DVD version has a special showing of the clone of Ai or as they renamed her Amber! Wow! Arent we lucky!?!? I didnt see it but I do plan to. So get it!!
Rating: Summary: I'm not reviewing the dub, just the original. Review: I have only seen the Japanese version of this special (it's not a movie - they aired it on TV and stuff). So that is what I review. It is just as beautiful as the first movie (Myuutsu no Gyakushuu), and gives it closure. And Domino is everything you want a Rocket to be. ^_^ The art, animation, and background music is just lovely. And then you've got those great songs "OK!" and "To My Best Friend." This is a fabulous work of art that should be in every Pokemaniac's collection. :) Now then... once I watch the entire Raikou Special, and you can review it here, I'll give all ye people my two cents. ^.^
Rating: Summary: MEWTWO IS BACK Review: Okay,i love lugia but it's so cool to see mewtwo again. And mew is not in this one for some reason. The story:it starts off with ash, misty and brock walking around johto to catch a bus.Mewtwo and the clones live on a tiny island. Then at night this poke scientest guy and a girl named domino come to visit ash and them. They try to climb some mountian to get some special water that heals people and pokemon.Giovanni finds mewtwo on his little hiding spot. They figure out that domino is acutally a TR member. They meet up with mewtwo....well,you get the story. It may not have a mini movie or be to long but it's still great
Rating: Summary: I am a pokemon addict Review: I thought it was like better than cast-away, and Titanic and Pearl Harbor put together. It had the best plot twists and romantic climax I have ever seen. Peace out.
Rating: Summary: Short but good Review: Pretty much every thing about this movie is good. The animation is exellent, the music is beautiful (it's the same as the first movie) and the characters are very well done. Mewtwo is acually pretty gental and he's convinced that him and the other cloned pokemon are not of this world (He makes that very clear) but he's still pretty powerful, and Ash is so sweet^_^. If you're a poke'fan you're defenetly gonna want to see it.
Rating: Summary: Second best of the four Review: Pokemon 4: Mewto returns, is the direct sequel of the first Pokemon movie. In my mind, it was considerably better than the second and third pokemon efforts (I thought they relied too much on total inanity). It is basically a solid film, and if you understand and are appreciative of the pokemon corpus you are more than likely to enjoy this film. Team rocket plays an especially appealing part as one gets to view them as a neutral force compared to the direct evil of the team rocket higher-ups. Speaking of which, agent 009 (team rocket's female version of James Bond) is an especially appealing character on many levels. At any rate, the film does as well as any film that is based on a half hour cartoon can do. It doesn't try to reach the emotional heights (and lows) of pokemon 1 (a truly stirring work), but in my mind, that reflects wisdom rather than incompetence (no need to repeat what has already been done). Again, for pokemon fans this is a sure bet. For those of you you with an open mind, give it a shot. Cheers.
