Rating: Summary: just superb Review: Really, really good. As other people here have said, they really develop the characters, especially Ryoko and Tenchi, and the scenes with those two are worth the price of the movie itself.
Rating: Summary: The second Tenchi movie is very appealing Review: I was amazed. This is the first Tenchi movie I have ever seen and right now it is my favorite anime. The movie manages to keep the feel that you recieve when you watch the televison series, but it adds more and enhances the feeling you already in Tenchi. The art seems better than in the t.v. series (not that I am dissing the normal art this just seems graphically eye appealing) the music is very nice as well. The thing is that I was not even supposed to go over ages 13 and up (I'm only 13 after all) but my mother decided to let me slip just this once... Oh, well, the new characters are very well developed and man you just gotta feel sorry for Yuzuha (my favorite character). If you like Tenchi I feel that this movie will not disapoint you. As far as parents should know there is some blood, tiny bit of cursing, a very near to naughty scene, and a nude hot springs scene ( which is a real big whoop, you don't even see anything)All in all a very pleasing movie.
Rating: Summary: Not an actual sequel Review: Not an actual sequel to the first Tenchi movie, this is more linked to the OVA series, where as "Tenchi in Love" was connected to Tenchi Universe(TV series). Which doesn't exactly explain Kiyone's appearence(one the new characters to appear in Universe), but then again, a movie is meant to be enjoyed, not analyzed. And enjoy it, I did. Tenchi, on the way home from the cemetery, comes across a girl, Mayuka, claiming to be his daughter. In reality she is a clone of Tenchi and a demon, Yazuha, sent to cause trouble for Tenchi and his grand father. This movie is much funnier than the first, with Ryoko providing most of the chuckles. The story is good, as is the action sequences at the end. A good soundtrack(the closing song the highlight) making for a good title for Tenchi fans. Even if you're not, give a go anyway.
Rating: Summary: An Interesting Sequel Review: The second Tenchi Muyo movie had the same great quality as the first (in colors especially). As you read on, you will see the advantages and disadvantages of this movie and edition.STORY: A blue-haired girl arrives at the Tenchi house claiming she is Tenchi's daughter. Her name is Mayuka. She looks like a really cute girl, and everybody likes her, except for Ryoko who suspects evil intentions and is also jealous. It is soon realized that she is being controlled by a demon with a sad past. I'll let you watch the movie to figure out more of the plot. VISUALS: As in the first, the visuals are magnificent. The colors are really well done and the lights shine really brightly. These pictures really entice the viewer. SOUND: Extremely clear and the Dolby Surround Sound gives great effects. Unfortunately (whether is was just the DVD I got or not) there were a few instances where the characters spoke from one of the speakers in the back and it was extremely low and impossible to hear. Simply turn on the subtitles when these instances occur. Also, there is the usual option of watching it in Japanese, and thisis always my favorite. EXTRAS: For those who had never seen Tenchi Muyo before, but stumbled upon this movie, it really doesn't matter. Included with the DVD is The Tenchi Encyclopedia, and although their is no motion clips it serves its purpose of going deep into the back stories and into the characters. It even shows the difference betwenn the OVA'a and TV Series. More features include two theatrical trailers (in Japanese), and the ability to set languages and subtitles. OVERALL: A great experience, but the villain was just a little weird. She had a great story but the toy part was a bit too strange. Of course, the movie includes hilarious scenes (i.e. the teddy bear with the retracting blade). Tenchi fans will love it, and others will too. Receives 4 stars for the usual Tenchi madness and comedy; loses one star because it doesn't compare to the series. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Not as good as the first but it was very sweet and charming! Review: This is a very good movie for Tenchi fans and for people who don't know the storyline can follow this plot line easy. It's about a girl who comes along the road and comes up to Tenchi and claims that she is Tenchi's daughter he brings her to his home because he doesn't know what to do about it. But Ryoko,Ayeka,Sasami and Mihoshi are all going nuts about wondering who could be the girl's mother? Well, who could be the girl's mother?
Rating: Summary: The Equal to The First Movie. Awesome! Review: Tenchi the Movie 2 is definitely a worthy sequel to its predesesor. This movie gets more into character development than the first movie, and it is just as charming, touching, funny, and well animated. This movie introduces two new characters to the Tenchi Universe, the lovable and cute Mayuka, and the sinister, but rather sad villain Yuzuha. As was said in other reviews, Ryoko fans must see this movie, as she is one of the charaters this movie focuses on the most, and many of the movie's most touching scenes involve her. It would help the viewer to see some of the Tenchi OVA Anime TV episodes to see where some of the nuances of the movie come from, like the origin of the lighthawk sword, but it isn't nessesary to understand the plot. A quaint note about Tenchi 2 is that it is a rather Christmasy Anime movie, so this is a great movie to watch around the holidays if you like Anime. Again, this movie is one of the best of all Japanese Animation, and anyone who buys it will not be dissapointed.
Rating: Summary: I wish I were Tenchi for one reason Review: I do not know too much about the Tenchi Muyo series, but after seeing the first Tenchi movie and the second, I have to say I am intrigued by it. The background consisting of a guy who lives in a house with several women who all want him turns out to be pretty cool. The second movie is also incredibly funny! Great touch with Myuka wanting to be with her "daddy" in the bathtub. The first two movies, the second especially really make me have to look into the series.
Rating: Summary: I'm not sure what movie YOU people were watching Review: Ok, if you've actually seen ANY other Tenchi Muyo!, or any other Anime at all, you'd know this movie was rather terrible... bad voice acting, the story was hardly coherent, and it's barely an hour long, which in my opinion means it's an oversised episode, not a "movie". If you're buying Tenchi Muyo, buy the first one or the third one, two of the best films ever made, be it Japan or America. This movie was an embarassment to the Tenchi Muyo series as a whole. I'm sure Taro Maki is sorry.
Rating: Summary: Excellent one of the best Animes I've seen Review: I really enjoyed this wonderful DVD although sorter in length then the original Tenchi Move: Tenchi Muyo in love It had lighter story line and also had the english voice actress of Sakuya from Tenchi Muyo in love to play his "Daughter"
Rating: Summary: The better Tenchi movie of the first two Review: Those reading the description should understand what I mean is that Tenchi 2 is a better "Tenchi movie" then the first. That means it is more for the Tenchi audience then Tenchi Muyo In Love, which was like a side story that anyone could watch, but didnt' really do much with the characters. It isn't as good on a whole as a TMiL, thanks to where it concentrates its efforts on, but Tenchi fans should really love this one. Those who are fans of the series though should have no trouble following the movie, even if a bit short and fast paced. If they had stretched out a few scenes, added some additional dialogue, and so on and added about 10-15 minutes onto the movie it would've been better, but only as far as pacing goes. The characters were really what recieved the majority of the work here. Several key character elements were touched on here. Ryoko lovers MUST SEE this movie! If anyone ever wondered what she would do if Tenchi ever rejected her I think this movie gives you the pretty basic idea. The two new characters are fantastic and you'll learn to care for Mayuka and feel sorry for Yazuha. Those dissapointed with the fairly generic Kain will fall in love with this fascinating demon. If you're wondering which universe it takes place in, it features the character designs from the OVA universe, but is not set in it as far as I can tell due to several key differences. My only complaints overall besides the pacing are the awful cardboard slip the case comes in and the fact that they didn't bother to translate or even put subtitles for the song during the movie's credits. I'm frankly shocked here as this is the first time I can recall the Tenchi crew not translating a song into English. This one is definitly one Tenchi fans should pick up. If you aren't a Tenchi fan already watch the OVA and the first movie to get an idea of the characters before you get into this one, otherwise you won't be able to understand or appreciate a lot of the work in the movie. The last thing I'll note is that if you're one of those "I hate all dubs" people then Tenchi is the one anime that might change your mind. I find it shocking Pioneer kind of just slapped on the English voice names as the end of the credits. I mean these people really put a lot of effort into their characters! Give them some credit.
