Rating: Summary: Tenchi fans should not miss out on this one ! Review: Tenchi The Movie 2: The Daughter of Darkness, AKA Tenchi Muyo!: Manatsu No Eve ("Midsummer's Eve"), is undoubtedly one of the greatest among the other three Tenchi movies. It still has some of that "traditional" Tenchi humor, highly detailed animation, pulse pounding action, and a bright cast of unforgetable characters, plus two new characters exclusive only to the movie. Now I'm about to tell you what this movie is about (Sorry ! No spoilers, if you want to know every part of the movie !). Christmas has passed, but something strange is about to happen to Tenchi...again. After praying on his mothers gravesite, he found a beautiful young girl by the steps of the Masaki shrine. Her name is Mayuka, a girl with a body of a teenage girl and a mind of a young child. She comes up to Tenchi calling him "Daddy". When Tenchi heard this, he began to freak out. But he wasn't the only one who freaked out. Ryoko and Ayeka were acting very jealous (mostly it's Ryoko) when they set sight on Tenchi's so-called daughter. And just like Tenchi, Mayuka harnesses the same power as her "father" and can activate the Light Hawk Sword (it's not the real one). According to the predictions of bubble-headed blonde girl Mihoshi, she could be a girl from the future but no one knows exactly who the future mother could be. Could it be Kiyone, Ayeka, Ryoko, Mihoshi, or...Sasami ? There's no proof of it ! Yuzuha, a demon from the dark world, is dead set on getting her revenge on Yosho, the former prince of Jurai a hundred years ago and currently Tenchi's grandfather, for being beaten by his Juraian guards on the day of Startica. Will Tenchi be up to the challenge when he faces Yuzuha in a dangerous battle ? Find out when you get or rent this movie. Now let me talk about how this movie looks. The animation is extremely perfect like all of the Tenchi series and movies (Tenchi in Tokyo looked a little weird, but it didn't lose its sense of brightness). The sceneries, characters, and the special effects are still quite the eye catcher when it comes to pure DVD quality. The sounds are still good with the catchy music, perfect voice acting, and sound effects. The only flaw in the voice acting is that the actors who played as Kiyone, Yosho, and Nobuyuki are from the Tenchi in Tokyo series. But who cares anyway ?! In terms of DVD, just as expected. You still get the dual langauage features and scene selections, plus the "Tenchi Encyclopedia" feature, where you will learn about characters, places, and ships from the Tenchi series. And furthermore, you will be able to view trailers of the Japanese original and catalogs for Tenchi merchandise. All in all, one of the greatest Tenchi movies of all time and it truly lives up to the prequel ! If you're a big Tenchi Muyo fan, buy this one now ! It's definently worth it !
Rating: Summary: This is mroe for die hard tenchi fans than anime fans Review: Don't get me wrong, this is a pretty good piece of work. However like so many otehr anime films based off series this is to short and is more connected to the series than the origional film. It's still entertaining but is a little more silly than the first. This time around Tenchi and the Gang must unravle the mystery behind the girl who claims to be Tenchis daughter. She shows up out of no where and starts calling Tenchi Daddy. Obviously the girls are not happy. WHat they don't know is that there is this little demon who wants Tenchi dead and is using the daughter to accomplish this task. Through more comedy and a pretty cool ending, this hour long "mini movie" tells a pretty good story, but is more liek the series than the first. The reason I keep comparing this one to the first is because the first Tenchi movie was incredible. I am not a Tenchi Muyo fan and the first had me in it's grasp the entire time. This one is little more lackluster than the first. However if you are a Tenchi Muyo fan (series) than you will enjoy this film ther is no doubt about that.
Rating: Summary: A very cool video! Review: In the movie Tenchi walks down the steps from the Masaki shrine. He then turns around to see this teenage girl name Miyuka. Miyuka claims him as her "Daddy." When he appears at the house with her thr whole other gang comes out. Sasamie, Miouchi, Kiyone are amazed while Ayeka and Ryoko are jealous because they think Miyuka is trying to get Tenchi as a boyfriend. Miyuka exclaims to them as Tenchi is her daddy. The whole gang gasp and Ryoko and Ayeka says to Tenchi if he knows her and he says no. Yuzuha a evil demon or some other sort made her on purpose. Miyuka says she is from Startika. Sasamie says they celebrate Christmas on Earth while in Startika they celebrate Christmas in the Summer. You have to watch this video!
Rating: Summary: Tenchi!? A father?!!! Review: Ohhhhhhhh. Neat movie, but if you think it's a sequel to the first one you're sadly mistakened. I'n the movie a demon named Yuzuha has held a grudge with Yosho for many years. But does she try & destroy him herself? NO! She then creates a young girl(Well, teenage girl), Mayuka, who then comes outa nowhere calling Tenchi "DADDY!" Yuzuha controls Mayuka & targets Tenchi instead of Yosho (It was NOT a mistake either.) Now, HOW is Mayuka TENCHI'S daughter? Well, Yuzuha simply melted Tenchi's hair & her own together(encoded DNA). But when things go to far, Ryoko & Tenchi take the risk & go to Yuzuha's nightmere world!
Rating: Summary: Much Better Review: In contrast to my review of the first Tenchi movie, this one was MUCH better. Sure it is still a little serious and "deep," but hey that is what movies are all about. The DVD itself is breathtaking. The artwork is alive as you watch it, and the soundtrack is golden (especially in stereo.) The story I will not spoil for you, but I have to hand it to the Tenchi team, they are if nothing else original! You will get the general idea of the plot from the editor's reviews so I shall say no more other than, if you are a true Tenchi fan you will love this DVD!
Rating: Summary: Tenchi's a father! Review: I would strongly recommend that you have at least seen Tenchi Universe before you watch this as some of the information in the series will be needed to understand the plot. The story is that one day a young girl with blue hair shows up and starts calling Tenchi "daddy".Ayeka and Ryoko are both shocked by this and Ryoko trys to kill her.The animation is brillant all the way through. The story has much more action than the first movie and is in my opinion better because of this.I can't wait to see Tenchi Forever! :)
Rating: Summary: Wonderful!! Amazing!! Review: As a lasting fan of Tenchi, I found this movie the best out of the lot. I can't get over the music, especially the stuff they played when we first saw Mayuka; that music-box-sounding melody is so beautiful! The comedy in here is wonderful, especially that provided by Ryoko's jealosy. Even now, when I watch it for the 11th time, I laugh untill I cry. As always, the battle scenes are amazing. Also, I can't help feeling warmed towards Uzuha when she is watching the apparation of the Startica tree, and when she was watching Sasami play with fireworks. It is as if she wishes that she could be a part of that too. Although the talking and knife-throwing toys were a little over the top, and that giant teddy bear was just plain creepy, I would still recommend this video to anyone, anime fan or not.
Rating: Summary: The best Tenchi Muyo Movie! Review: I liked this movie even better than the first Tenchi movie! I think that it is funnier and is more dramatic. I thought it was a good story line that Tenchi's "daughter of darkness" Mayuka was created from the Demon Yuzuha's and Tenchi's hair. It's kinda sad too. I strongly reccomend this title to people 13 and older for a scene of complete nudity, breif language and a scene of sex. (Even thought pioneer ranked it with the 16 and up crowd. I find that an inappropriate rating!)
Rating: Summary: tenchi 2 Review: One day Tenchi was walking back home and he saw a beautiful girl.. the first word that came out of her was "daddy"... What would you do if this happened to you??? Tenchi brought her home and this gave Ryoko and Ayeka a lot of things to be jealous of. The villain in the movie is called Yuzuha. SHe was in love with Yosho tons of years before tenchi was born. Yuzuha has come to take her revenge by trying to take tenchi into her world.. The movie is a classic. It brings all the characters of tenchi in a great story that keeps you on your toes wondering what'll happen next?
Rating: Summary: Diehard Tenchi fans won't want to miss this! Review: At first the movie didn't look too promising, mostly because of its length. I didn't see how it was possible that a movie could be crammed into a 60-minute time slot- but 'Daughter of Darkness (Manatsu no Eve)' proved me wrong! I'm sure that you've all heard the general synopsis by now, so I won't bore you with another. Instead, I'll just tell you the terrific points, which was almost everything. First, the music was absolutely beautiful - not as lovely as that from 'Tenchi Forever (Tenchi Muyo in Love 2)', but as good, if not better, than that from 'Tenchi Muyo in Love'. Second, Mayuka's (Tenchi's 'daughter's') personality was well-developed, and I soon found myself falling in love with her personality, a clash of Sasami and Mishohi, perhaps. She fit right in with Tenchi-tachi. Also, the bonding between characters was absolutely beautiful. Whether it be Ryouko and Aeka's heartwarming talk by Funaho, Tenchi and Ryouko's touching scene on the rooftop, or Sasami and Mayuka's bonding scenes, they all showed character development and such. Finally, if you are a fan of Tenchi/Ryouko, this is the movie for you. As mentioned before, Tenchi and Ryouko have quite a few touching scenes, the rooftop scene in particular. Also shown is how deeply Ryouko's love for Tenchi runs. We also get to see the more emotional side of Ryouko-san. There were a couple things that weren't all that great, or just didn't fit. One was why Mayuka had to lick/kiss Tenchi to bring her to Yazuha's domain. Also, I don't quite see why Yazuha went after Tenchi as opposed to who should have been her target- Yoshou, Tenchi's granfather. Also, if the movie were even a mere half-hour longer, the ending would have been better than it already was. However, none of these things made the movie worthy of less than 5 stars. I have seen all three Tenchi movies and, in my opinion, this was above and beyond the other two. However, I DO NOT recommend this to anyone who hasn't already seen the Tenchi series. The movie starts assuming you know all about the characters, and I'm sorry to say, you'll be lost if you don't have at least some background information on Tenchi-tachi. Also, the movie deserves the PG-13 suggested rating Amazon.com gives it. Overall, this is a terrific movie, one that a diehard Tenchi fan won't want to miss- and the perfect addition to any Tenchi collection!
