Summary: Design Flawed
Review: The movie and the shorts are great. The picture and sound are great. You then have audio choices: French with English subtitles or English with the same English subtitles. They do not let you view this DVD without subtitles. Very, very frustrating and annoying. Why the heck a major flaw like this would not be caught in pre-production I don't know. It is frustrating to ponder this question. If I had it to do over a gain I would wait till they re-release this DVD sometime in the future. If you just can't wait though, the picture and sound quality are great. Gotta give it 1 star for the gross design flaw, though.

Summary: This looks like a bootleg copy.
Review: The transfer on this DVD is very bad and reminds me of a bootleg copy and not something from a production house. When I saw this movie back around 1985 I saw it dubbed in ENGLISH. I am a typical American and hate sub-titles so where is the dubbed version at now? With DVD's multi-lingual capabilities you would have thought they would have added the dubbed version on the english track but they did not. I still like the movie but as far as this DVD goes save your money and wait for it to reappear at another time, and hopefully done right this time.

Summary: Le dvd fantastique!
Review: Of course i am going to say the same as all of you, great but there is a problem with the subtitles. But i am going to tell more about the toon in french 'cause i am not feeling very confortable (clever ;-)) when using my poor college-english.

Summary: A cult classic movie!
Review: This French/Czech animation is basic in comparation to Star Wars or Star Trek, but the story captivates you mind and makes you into another world. When I saw this movie, I couldn't believe how great it was!!!

Summary: Or is it Savage Planet?
Review: Superior, poetic, high-concept, French animated sci-fi about a distant world inhabited by super smart (and really big), fishy-looking aliens who keep humans as pets - that is when they're not hunting, maiming, and poisoning them like gophers. One day a tiny human gets hold of an alien learning "ring" and becomes super smart himself, quickly passing on his newfound IQ to his fellow dinkys. War ensues a la Gulliver, and the secret dream life of the aliens becomes their undoing. Much carnage, philosophy, and brutality, especially for a pastel-drawn feature. Originally played in theatres on a double bill with "2001: A Space Odyssey," under the more appropriate title which translates to "Savage Planet."

Review: I saw this movie so long ago I almost forgot about it, untill I went and saw The Cell and to my suprise and delight it was being shown on T.V when I told my son about this movie and what it was about he sounded very excited to see it and now I can buy one here it was very thought provoking and scary when I was much younger, but I feel the message is the same and would recomend this film to any who are sci-fi freaks and cartoon lovers everywhere. I can't wait to get mine.

Summary: Best Animation Film there is!
Review: I saw this film in a theatre years ago. I absolutely loved it. The animation is great and the concept was weird, a totally out of this world imaginative story. The unique music well fitted for the storyline. I highly recommend this movie to people who are fans of animated film. This is truly my number one best recommended animated film. I watched this movie many times and NEVER grew tired of it.

Summary: Wow, what a planet.
Review: I first saw this video 20 years ago. And it was fascinating, thought provoking, enigmatic. And by the way, my 10 year old liked it also.

Summary: Cool, see it if ya want to be spooked! LOL!
Review: Bonkers! I just got back from seeing this majorly bizzare movie, LOL! It's really weird, especially in French with subtitles! I wouldn't recommend bringing the kiddies, heehee! It was really well done though and the animation was cool too!I got the impression that this movie is about humans abducted hundreds or maybe thousands of years ago by alien giants to a strange planet who don't really know they are from Earth and think they are just subserviant creatures, which in fact they are! Whoa! Heavy duty stuff! It would've been cooler is the Oms (humans) found out their roots and got back to Earth! At least, this is my interpretation! Have fun at the movies, if ya got the guts, lol!

Summary: Fantastic Film
Review: Came across this film for the first time around two a.m. one summer morning in 1986. It was being broadcast on a late-night cable t.v. program known as "Night Flight." Unfortunately, just prior to it starting, I had to leave to take a friend home. But being a fan of animated films, I didn't want to miss it, so I popped a tape in the VCR to record it. When I came home, I went straight to bed. The next morning when I woke up, I played the tape. I simply could not believe what I had just recorded. This film has been an all-time favorite of mine ever since.

Over the years, I have tried to find a copy of the movie, and was finally able to find one through a mail-order catalog about four years ago. Upon watching the new copy, I discovered that it had been edited, and discovered that my original copy was edited as well. Both copies had parts that the other did not. Being a perfectionist, but one without the proper film editing equipment, I tried unsatisfactorily to combine the two copies into a good quality, complete version. I began to think I'd never have a good copy of this great film.

Fast forward to this past weekend. While browsing at a record & movie store, what did I see but a nicely packaged 25th anniversary release of the film. Of course I snatched it up, brought it home, and played it. To my delight, it was complete, and a great reproduction as well. However, one thing I could do without is the poorly-matched English subtitles with dubbed English.

I know it's a cliche - but one I can't escape - "They just don't make them like this anymore."
